We love stories of people saving pets, and this one came from New York last week!
The article never mentioned the rescuer's name, though!

A brave dog owner risked her life by jumping into a frigid Central Park lake to rescue her precious pooch Sunday.
Cops said the bowwow lover was walking five dogs, including her own, near Lenox Avenue and Central Park North around 10:15 a.m. when one of the tail-waggers high-tailed it toward the Harlem Meer and dived in.

Despite temperatures that hovered in the teens, and “Danger, Thin Ice,” signs that ringed the partially frozen lake, the woman did not hesitate to take the plunge, cops said.

Police used a life preserver to pull her and the tiny dog out of the Meer, as witnesses and the four other dogs watched.
