Franklin Update: Dog Spinal Surgery Recovery: Week 4
Almost four weeks ago, our 10 year old red Dachshund, Franklin had emergency

surgery to correct a ruptured disc in his spine. His recovery had been
slow, but this week has been a marked improvement. He's finally able to stand on his back legs and walk short distances before falling down.
*We do his leg stretching exercises 2 times a day as instructed*
Franklin's back legs were paralyzed when the disc ruptured and the
doctor told us it means FOUR weeks of post-surgery bed rest. Here's a video of Franklin walking on Sept. 30, 2014. His surgery was Sept.7, 2014.
We're still carrying Franklin outside and back inside, and "tail walking" (holding by base of tail so he doesn't fall over when doing his business outside), or using a bathrobe tie under his tummy near his back legs to keep him steady when he walks.
