Unemployment
fell below 6 percent for the first time in more than
six years, dipping to 5.9 percent in September with the economy adding
248,000 jobs, the Labor Department reported on Friday. The last time
unemployment was below 6 percent was in July 2008, when it was 5.8
percent.
WANT MORE PROOF?
The number of new jobs easily surpassed expectations —
analysts had predicted 215,000 jobs created last month, according to a
Bloomberg survey.
Friday’s robust jobs report comes at an opportune time for the White
House as it makes a final push ahead the midterm elections to highlight
the economic recovery during the Obama administration. This is the last
