Our Christmas with Governor O'Malley and his Wife Katie

Earlier this month, we went to the Christmas Open House at the Maryland Governor's Mansion. Governor O'Malley and his wife have been doing this since he got into office (unlike the trollish GOP Governor before him who didn't). We stood in line to get inside and take a self-guided walking tour through a couple of beautifully decorated rooms, which you'll see in these pictures. We were totally surprised with Governor Martin O'Malley and his wife Katie were standing in the hallway, taking photos with anyone that wanted them! Tom and I love the Governor, and we both think he's really handsome. So, I let Tom stand next to the governor and Martin put his hand around Tom (something Tom won't forget!). Here's the photo the Governor's Mansion posted on their website.

Here's the Governor's Mansion from the outside.

This is the entry stairway as you come into the mansion's front door. It's really beautifully decorated and well-lit. The Governor and his wife were standing next to a Christmas tree to the left of the stairway for photos.

In one of the rooms, the Arbutus, Maryland, volunteer fire department set up a beautiful and large model train Christmas display. In another room, were a pianist and a choir, singing Christmas carols.

We walked through one of the dining rooms, too, where the Governor had spiced hot apple cider and lots of Christmas cookies to eat. At the end of the brief tour, we were given pewter Christmas ornaments with the Maryland crab on them. They're now on our tree. We'll go to his house any time! What a great (and hunky) host.
