Here's my official review on "LOVE IN RUINS" by Josie Naclerio. I don't normally read romances, but this one was much, much, much more that that. It's a 5 of 5 Star Novel: A Police drama, passionate romance with an exotic Italian setting. This has all the makings of a great movie!This breakthrough novel has everything.It has engaging characters that you grow to care about. It has police drama, sizzling romance, and all in the mysterious setting of Pompeii, Italy.
This is a police drama with a passionate romance that brings together the lead characters, Gian, an Italian military police officer with a past the resurfaces to haunt him, and Rebecca, an American archaeologist from Texas who is working in Pompeii. Fate brings them together, and a ghost from Gian's past may tear them apart.
As I read this, I thought this would make a fantastic movie. The writer paints a clear picture of the settings, characters, and their feelings. There's also the aspects of family dynamics the author covers brilliantly, bringing in the main characters' two families. I found this to be a page turner, and it kept me on edge, wondering when and how the "ghost" from Gian's past would catch up to him.
Truly, this author has a great future. She knows how to tell a story, make characters come alive, and keep the reader interested.
