We Adopted DASH (our foster dog)

Tom, Dash and Rob on
Gotcha Day 8-10-18
Yesterday, August 10th we made the call. It was Dash's "Gotcha Day." After taking in little 8 pound, 10 year old Dash from a county kill shelter, we adopted him.
Our friend Shelley who volunteers with Dachshund Rescue of North America called us 3 weeks ago about Dash and said that he was in the shelter for a month and his time was up unless a rescue took him. So,Shelley asked if we could foster him and we agreed. We weren't considering fostering or even adopting as we are busy with Dolly, Franklin and Tyler, but it was that or Dash's final fate.
Since then, Dash has fit in nicely with our kids and loves hanging out with Tom on the couch. He's s happy (to be in a home and out of a shelter- where he was scared we were told).

So, help us welcome this little Dachshund/Chihuahua mix!  He reminds me a little of Sprite (who passed in July 2013, and was the same mix , but much more Dachshund).
Since we only know Dash's birthday is "August" and it's now August, we assigned him Tom's Grandfather's birthdate of August 15th.  So, next week we will celebrate Dash at 11 years old and as a member of the family.
Thanks again to Shelley for asking us to foster him, save his life, and welcome him into our clan.
