Rapid City Police Dept. Outs a Military Woman- Gets her Fired

For anyone that says discrimination, hateful behavior and intolerance for the lives of gay people just don't happen - here's the latest example of it. This 9 year air force craftsman, Jene Newsome, was outed by a police department (who had NO BUSINESS telling the Air Force she was married to her partner... again the stupid Don't Ask policy here), despite the fact she wouldn't give them information about her partner (who apparently committed theft). There's 2 things wrong here: 1) Newsome SHOULD have told them where her partner was and let her partner face justice. 2) the Police should NEVER have informed the Air Force Newsome is gay. They have totally destroyed her life and career in one day. How would ANYONE feel if that happened to them?
- I think politicians like the local, anti-gay, hateful, idiot Donald Dwyer here in Maryland needs to be thrown out of office just like this woman lost her job. Maybe then he'd "get it."

Two Rapid City police officers are accused of deliberately bringing the same-sex marriage of an Ellsworth Air Force Base sergeant to the military's attention, allegedly costing Staff Sgt. Jene Newsome her military career.
The American Civil Liberties Union of South Dakota has filed an internal affairs complaint with the Rapid City Police Department questioning the conduct of Det. Tom Garinger and Officer Jeremy Stauffacher, according to Robert Doody, state ACLU director.
Doody believes that the officers maliciously sent a copy of a police report to the military that resulted in Newsome's dismissal from the service.
