Visited Jason Hisley's La Cakerie! (A MUST)

Tom, Jason and Rob
Jason Hisley is a world-class baker and owns La Cakerie in Towson, Maryland (north of Baltimore) and in downtown Baltimore. We met Jason through our nephew Kenny. They make amazing gourmet cupcakes, muffins, cakes (and amazing wedding and event cakes).  pretzels, scones, cinnamon rolls, sticky buns, mini pies, cheesecake, donuts and croissants. All of them are delicious.
When there, we saw a cake that looked like 2 heads for a Halloween party!
We bought one of each cupcake and they were ALL amazing. Tom loved the Pumpkin and I've enjoyed every chocolate combination he makes (about 5) .
Btw- Jason is a tall guy, about 6 feet tall, and has a "Sweet" tattoo on his chest (he didn't show it to us, we saw him reveal it on the Food Network competition). :)

The Cake Van
ABOUT LA CAKERIE - After graduating from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI with a Bachelors degree in Baking & Pastry Arts, Jason traveled to Europe and received a pastry certification from the Restaurant School in Vitznau, Switzerland. This opportunity allowed him to explore other cultures in Europe and practice my art of baking with a global perspective. This fundamental pastry training was his springboard into the culinary world and even allowed him the opportunity to compete on Food Network pastry competitions.
Everything looked awesome!

NOW ON TELEVISION - "Halloween Baking Championship"
YOU may know Jason as he has appeared on the Food Network and is currently on the "Halloween Baking Championship" on Monday nights at 9pm EDT  during October.

Gift/Memorial Suggestions

Several of our friends have lost loved ones (human and pets) and we found that one of the best ways to honor their memory is to give to an animal charity.
What better way to recognize a life of love, than by giving another life a chance for love?
We donate to many animal rescues, but because we volunteer with
DC Weimaraner Rescue and Coast-to-Coast Dachshund Rescue, those are our 2 favorites.
Consider giving the chance of life to a dog or cat.

About us

We're two married guys who enjoy the simple things in life, especially our dogs. We volunteer for dog rescues, enjoy splitting dinners, exercising, blogging, helping friends and neighbors, ghost investigations, coffee and tea, Tudor history, weather, superheroes, comic books, mystery novels, traveling, 70s and 80s music, classic country, piano, gardening, writing books on ghosts and spirits, architecture, keeping a clean house, cooking simply, and keeping in shape. You'll find tidbits of all of these things on this blog and more.
