Watched 2 Great Older Movies on DVD: Tombstone and Daredevil

Tombstone poster
Recently we watched two older movies we have on DVD that we really enjoy. Tombstone and Daredevil. Of course, we also caught up on seeing Downton Abbey Season 4 again in preparation for the new season which starts in a couple of days.

TOMBSTONE- (1993)  "A++"
This is one of Rob's all-time favorite movies that covers a period of time in the life of Wyatt Earp and his two brothers Virgil and Morgan, with Wyatt's friend Doc John Holliday,- gambler and gunslinger extraordinnaire.
This is one of the most historically accurate depictions of their time in Tombstone, Arizona in the early 1880s when the brothers and Doc wound up facing the lawless "cowboy gang" of thieves who arrived there after fleeing Texas. The movie's crux occurs during the shootout at the O.K. Corral (actually happened in a lot behind it) on Oct. 26, 1881.
Shootout at the O.K. Corral
  BTW- Rob is an amateur historian on Wyatt Earp- and has traced Wyatt's movements all around the U.S. and traveled to many of the places Wyatt lived.
   The movie is excellent. The actors were amazing, the characterizations were perfect (and match history's accounts). The costumes, scenery, interactions, customs- right down to the Chinese immigrants building the railroads and hosting opium dens, were on target. So many of the events depicted were written up in articles at the time in the Tombstone Epitatph newspaper.

DAREDEVIL -"A"  - This is a Marvel Superhero movie that for some reason didn't get rave reviews, but we love it. Ben Affleck was dead-on in this movie, and really made the character come to life. We also liked the villain that Colin Farrell played. We are disappointed that a second film wasn't made.

Daredevil is a 2003 American superhero film written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson. Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, the film stars Ben Affleck as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who fights for justice in the courtroom and out of the courtroom as the masked vigilante Daredevil. Jennifer Garner plays his love interest Elektra Natchios; Colin Farrell plays the merciless assassin Bullseye; David Keith plays Jack "The Devil" Murdock, a washed up fighter who is Matt's father; and Michael Clarke Duncan plays Wilson Fisk, also known as the crime lord Kingpin.
