Heroes of the week: Reilly Tree and Landscape of Plainville Identifies Thief

There are two ways to look at a story. One, focus on a criminal who wore a sweatshirt with a distinct company logo (that had only local and limited distribution), or two, focus on the company who was able to identify the fool and get him arrested. Today's blog focuses on the Company, who are HEROES for determining the identity of the crook. So, BRAVO to Reilly Tree and Landscape of Plainville, Massachusetts!
Here's the story from the Boston Globe>>

Sweatshirt with identifiable logo helps police catch break-in suspect

A sweatshirt with a distinct, easily identifiable logo helped lead police to a North Attleborough man who has now been charged in connection with breaking into a jewelry store in Franklin on July 31.

Patrick Maranda, 32, has been charged with breaking and entering nighttime for a felony, larceny from a building, and vandalizing property, according to Franklin police.

A warrant went out for Maranda’s arrest on Tuesday, and in conjunction with North Attleborough police, he was taken into custody around 3 p.m. that day. Maranda was arraigned on Wednesday.

Police had released surveillance footage of the alleged break-in on Facebook. In the video, the suspect appears to pound on the front door and makes his way in.

The suspect appears to be wearing a hooded sweatshirt with a logo on it. Reilly Tree and Landscape, the company the logo belongs to, helped with the investigation, according to police.

“The Franklin Police Department is aware that much attention was drawn to the clothing the suspect was wearing in the video,” police said. “The company, who self-identified publicly as Reilly Tree and Landscape of Plainville came forward early in the investigation and worked with our investigators to identify the individual. Their cooperation assisted this investigation tremendously.”
