Gifts that aren't all Things

Tom and I realize at this stage of our lives we have what we need, and wants are just those - wants, not needs. So, with Christmas "in the rear view mirror" we thought it would be a good time to reflect upon gifts. Tom  saw this list online and thought it was pretty much on target... and I added to it.
Gifts that aren't Things
This is my very favorite idea. These are things that your loved one could buy for themselves but probably wouldn’t. They make very thoughtful gifts for someone who is actively trying not to accumulate stuff.
  • Donations to dog rescues (we like doing this one)
  • Homemade cookies, cakes, or breads
  • Certificate for spa treatment
  • Gift card for haircut
  • Car detailing
  • Oil Change
  • Custom playlist on iTunes
  •  eBooks (or gift card for paperback books)
  • Tickets to local events
  • Subscription to an online magazine or newspaper
  • Consumables (especially beer or wine!)
  • Restaurant gift cards
  • Supermarket gift cards
  • Stationery
  • Coffee or tea :)

Gift/Memorial Suggestions

Several of our friends have lost loved ones (human and pets) and we found that one of the best ways to honor their memory is to give to an animal charity.
What better way to recognize a life of love, than by giving another life a chance for love?
We donate to many animal rescues, but because we volunteer with
DC Weimaraner Rescue and Coast-to-Coast Dachshund Rescue, those are our 2 favorites.
Consider giving the chance of life to a dog or cat.

About us

We're two married guys who enjoy the simple things in life, especially our dogs. We volunteer for dog rescues, enjoy splitting dinners, exercising, blogging, helping friends and neighbors, ghost investigations, coffee and tea, Tudor history, weather, superheroes, comic books, mystery novels, traveling, 70s and 80s music, classic country, piano, gardening, writing books on ghosts and spirits, architecture, keeping a clean house, cooking simply, and keeping in shape. You'll find tidbits of all of these things on this blog and more.
