ASPCA issues warning about peanut butter

According to the FDA, pets with salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Contact a veterinarian if a pet has consumed a recalled product and has these symptoms, the FDA advises.

PetSmart has recalled Grreat Choice Dog Biscuits sold in seven different package sizes. In a media release, PetSmart said the recall was a precaution, and it was unaware of any reported cases of illness related to the dog biscuits. The Phoenix-based company has removed the biscuits from shelves at its 1,107 pet stores in the United States and Canada and from its web site.

The Grreat Choice Dog Biscuits being recalled were sold from Aug. 21, 2008, to Jan. 19, 2009. They are:
* Small Assorted, 32 ounces, UPC 73725702900. -Small/Medium Assorted, 4 pounds, UPC 73725700601.
* Small/Medium Assorted, 8 pounds, UPC 73725700605.
* Small/Medium Assorted, 10 pounds, UPC 73725702755.
* Large Assorted, 8 pounds, UPC 73725700638. - Extra Large Assorted, 8 pounds, UPC 73725700779.
* Peanut Butter, 4 pounds, UPC 73725700766.
