A Dog Guest and a Perfect Dog Walk Day

L: Tom, Franklin and Rocky. R: Rob, Tyler and Dolly
This weekend, we took in a canine guest for the next week, and he's been here before. So, he got a

special treat when he got to take a long walk on a perfect Saturday with us and our kids because the weather finally cooled.

Our friends Jill and Ken (who are like family) asked us to watch their little dog Rocky as they headed out on their annual 9 day vacation. We've enjoyed Rocky's company in years past, and our 7 year old Dachshund,Tyler our 14 yr old Doxie Franklin, and 13 year old Weimaraner, Dolly all  know Rocky, so it was all good. Tyler sometimes doesn't like other dogs (even some he's known for a while!).

Here in the Mid-Atlantic, we've been enduring a heatwave for about 10 or more days with high humidity and temperatures in the 90s. On Saturday morning, July 7, a cold front had moved through bringing low humidity and cool morning temps in the 60s.

So we put all the canine kids in the car and drove up to a nearby industrial park. That's always a good place to go to avoid other dogs, and enjoy peace and quiet. It was perfect. The sky was a crystal blue, the temperature a crisp 63 degrees Fahrenheit, and no other dogs to worry about. We took an hour walk and all the kids were exhausted by the end.

Tyler and Dolly speed walking!
Nothing like a peaceful dog walk on a beautiful and unusually cool summer day!  Enjoy the simple pleasures life brings.
