Dog Rescue: A Visible Transformation!

Happy before: as an unhappy dog
In a previous blog, I mentioned that last  Monday brought a call for transportation for Coast-to-Coast Dachshund Rescue to transport 2 dogs to foster homes. Sami (who had back surgery), and Happy (from a Baltimore shelter).
Happy is a black and tan long-haired dachshund that was obviously ignored. When Shelley from the rescue picked him up, he was an overgrown, dirty, shaggy mess. She bathed him quickly before bringing him to me, and I drove him to northern Virginia to Katie who was placing him in a foster home.
Katie took care of getting Happy groomed, and now he looks like a dachshund (instead of a black poodle).
Happy is happy all cleaned up!
Katie said on Thursday:  "Happy's sniffles have progressed to bordering on pneumonia & the vet is stepping up his antibiotics.   He does look better all trimmed up though.  :o)"
So, even though he's sick, at least Happy can be happy about looking better and being clean for a change!

SAMI WAGS AFTER BACK SURGERY - Sami, the other rescue I transported from Shelley (who picked him up in Baltimore) and brought him to Katie in northern Virginia, had back surgery. Dachshunds are subject to back injuries if they jump off furniture, so they shouldn't be allowed to do that (try telling a dachshund puppy that... We know!).  Anyway, Katie reported and made this short video of Sami wagging his tail after surgery. That's a GREAT sign of recovery, and we hope he's able to walk again soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhSQ4nbtlZM
