Bryn Corach is the former home of outdoor activity pioneer Thomas Arthur Leonard with guests believed to have included playwright George Bernard Shaw. Mr Leonard become the founding vice-president of the British Youth Hostels Association in 1930 and he used the building to introduce the now popular practice to the UK. Dafydd Hardy says the property “offers enormous potential through completion of works to provide a beautiful, detached family home together with an exciting business opportunity”. Interested buyers have included homeowners and hotel and leisure companies. “This building, although in need of some repair and upgrading works, offers potential for conversion to holiday apartments or a lucrative holiday letting business,” the estate agent says. The original structure of the building is listed for its social historical interest as a hotel and for its ‘special architectural interest and definite character’. The interior is of the period with high coved ceilings, open fireplaces and French windows. Dafydd Hardy said: “We’ve had a great deal of interest in Bryn Corach which has the most stunning views over the town of Conwy, the castle to the front and down the valley to the rear.(Photo: The villa has views of Conwy, the town's famous 13th century castle and the River Conwy. “Interest ranges from individuals who are looking for a main residence to companies seeking hotel and leisure sites with a difference, bringing much needed local jobs to the area. “I don’t think it will be too long before we effect a sale, and the lucky purchaser will have bought a historic building project.”
