It's great when people decide to use their talents to combat evil, just like real-life superheroes. Recently these good people of the week decided to do just that using their computer skills and talents to help the FBI identify track the insurrectionists who stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Open-source investigators have launched Jan6evidence.com, a slick new website
to organize digital evidence collected about the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.
The citizen sleuths have already made major contributions to the FBI's
investigation into the hundreds of suspects who stormed the Capitol on Donald
Trump's behalf.

Since the January 6 attack on the Capitol, hundreds of volunteers have scrutinized photos and video of the event. They have reviewed thousands of hours of footage, created timelines, identified and tracked persons of interest, synchronized videos, and provided analysis.
This site is an effort to help organize and visualize this crowdsourced information. Contributors include data scientists, academic researchers, software engineers, and many others. All are motivated by a desire to understand what happened on January 6 and why. Most wish to remain anonymous.
