I (Rob) have never been much of a Marvel Comics guy (I'm a DC comics guy with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman,
Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Atom, Red Tornado, Spectre, etc.), but I've always like Marvel's Daredevil. So, I bought Marvel Comics' Essential Daredevil, VOL. 6 (Trade Paperback). The stories are a lot more simple than comics today, and there were a lot of 1970s lingo in it, bringing back memories. There was a continuing storyline, though, so you got to see the character and supporting characters evolve. *Sadly, today, Marvel has so many titles for the same characters that you can't really develop them- it's too confusing*
This was a good collection, and I enjoyed it. You will too, if you're watching the Netflix Daredevil show (see below)
WHO IS DAREDEVIL? - Living in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of New York City, Matt Murdock
is blinded by a radioactive substance that falls from an oncoming
vehicle. While he no longer can see, the radioactive exposure heightens
his remaining senses beyond normal human ability.
His father, a boxer
named Jack Murdock, supports him as he grows up, though Jack is later
killed by gangsters after refusing to throw a fight.
After donning a yellow and dark red, and later an all dark red costume,
Matt seeks out revenge against his father's killers as the superhero
Daredevil, fighting against his many enemies including Bullseye and the Kingpin.[2] Daredevil's nickname is "the Man Without Fear." He first appeared in Daredevil #1 (April 1964).(Thanks to wikipedia for this great summary so I didn't have to re-write it!)
CURRENTLY ON NETFLIX - Netflix, of which we don't subscribe, has a Daredevil television show. We've heard it was pretty good, but there's enough stuff for us to watch on cable (my favorites are the Flash, Gotham, Arrow, Big Bang Theory, Amazing Race). (from NETFLIX:"Marvel's Daredevil" is a live action series that
follows the journey of attorney Matt Murdock, who in a tragic accident
was blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses. Murdock sets
up practice in his old neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, New York where he
now fights against injustice as a respected lawyer by day and masked
vigilante at night. Starring: Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll,
Vincent D'Onofri)
