On Sunday, August 11th, my (Rob) brother Doug, sister-in-law Sue, and my nephews Brian and Scotty were driving home from their vacation in NC and stopped overnight in Baltimore. So, Tom and I met them all for a nice evening. They had a hotel room near the Inner Harbor, so we met them there and walked over to nearby Fells Point for a great dinner sitting outside. The temperature was in the mid-80s, but we had an umbrella, and the restaurant faced Baltimore's harbor. The table was on the sidewalk, so we got to do some people watching, too.
It was great to see Scotty and Brian - and we had some surprises for them. Like their dad and me, they love the superhero "The Flash" so we made sure they had some good stuff to read on the way home.
We walked around Fells Point and enjoyed the waterfront, and then walked over to nearby Little Italy where we got some great Italian cookies and pastry. We brought it over to the Christopher Columbus statue nearby, and enjoyed the harbor and the other sights. It's amazing how big kids get so quickly.
Several of our friends have lost loved ones (human and pets) and we found that one of the best ways to honor their memory is to give to an animal charity. What better way to recognize a life of love, than by giving another life a chance for love? We donate to many animal rescues, but because we volunteer with DC Weimaraner Rescue and Coast-to-Coast Dachshund Rescue, those are our 2 favorites. Consider giving the chance of life to a dog or cat.
We're two married guys who enjoy the simple things in life, especially our dogs. We volunteer for dog rescues, enjoy splitting dinners, exercising, blogging, helping friends and neighbors, ghost investigations, coffee and tea, Tudor history, weather, superheroes, comic books, mystery novels, traveling, 70s and 80s music, classic country, piano, gardening, writing books on ghosts and spirits, architecture, keeping a clean house, cooking simply, and keeping in shape. You'll find tidbits of all of these things on this blog and more.
