Idiots of the Week: 12 Republicans Who Denied to Honor Capitol Police - from Insurrection)

This week's IDIOT is actually a group that numbers 12. This week, the Police who defended the Capitol building in Washington, DC were honored this week by Congress, EXCEPT by 12 ungrateful and hateful IDIOTS of the WEEK Republicans. ONLY Republicans voted against honoring these brave men and women after they protected lives during the Capitol Insurrection. That political party used to say they were the "party of the police" and now the truth comes out. It's Disgusting. One of the 12 Idiots of the week is Maryland's Andy Harris. He and the other 11 Losers should be ashamed of themselves and should never get another police officer's support. Before I get to the story, here are the list of Idiots to make it easier:

A DOZEN IDIOTS:   Andy Harris of Maryland  Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia,  -Matt Gaetz of Florida - Thomas Massie of Kentucky - Louie Gohmert, a congressman from Texas - Andy Biggs of Arizona, - Andy Harris of Maryland, - Lance Gooden of Texas, - Michael Cloud of Texas, - Andrew Clyde of Georgia, - Greg Steube of Florida, - Bob Good of Virginia - John Rose of Tennessee.

12 Republicans vote against honoring Capitol police for protecting Congress

A dozen Republicans voted against a resolution honoring US Capitol police for their efforts to protect members of Congress during the insurrection on 6 January.

The House voted 413-12 on Wednesday to award congressional gold medals, Congress’s “highest expression of national appreciation”, to all members of the Capitol police force.

The Republicans who opposed this honor included Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, Matt Gaetz of Florida and Thomas Massie of Kentucky. They and other opposing members said they had problems with the text of the legislation.

Massie told reporters he disagreed with the terms “insurrection” and “temple” in the legislation.

The resolution said: “On January 6, 2021, a mob of insurrectionists forced its way into the US Capitol building and congressional office buildings and engaged in acts of vandalism, looting, and violently attacked Capitol police officers.”

It also named the three officers who responded to the attack and died shortly after – Capitol police officers Brian Sicknick and Howard Liebengood and Metropolitan police department officer Jeffrey Smith – and said seven other people died and more than 140 law enforcement officers were injured.

“The desecration of the US Capitol, which is the temple of our American democracy, and the violence targeting Congress are horrors that will forever stain our nation’s history,” the bill said.

Louie Gohmert, a congressman from Texas, said in a statement that the text “does not honor anyone, but rather seeks to drive a narrative that isn’t substantiated by known facts”.

Gohmert separately circulated a competing bill to honor Capitol police that did not mention the 6 January attack, according to a copy obtained by Politico. His text also named the officers who died after the insurrection but did not specify the circumstances of their deaths, writing instead that they: “All passed in January 2021.”

The other Republicans who voted against the legislation were Andy Biggs of Arizona, Andy Harris of Maryland, Lance Gooden of Texas, Michael Cloud of Texas, Andrew Clyde of Georgia, Greg Steube of Florida, Bob Good of Virginia and John Rose of Tennessee.

All of the bill’s opponents, except for Massie, voted to object to state’s electoral votes in the presidential election in the hours after the insurrection.

Good Person Hero/Dog Of the Week: Shelter Dog Saves Man Who Gave Her a Last Chance at Life

As a dog dad and dog rescuer, I know dogs do amazing things. Imagine rescuing a dog that no one wanted to take a chance on who was on "death row" and that dog bonds with you immediately and actually Saves your Life!

It happened in New Jersey last month.

A 100 plus pound dog named Sadie was on "death row." No one wanted her until a man named Brian took a chance on her even after he was told she didn't take to men. Instead, Sadie proved how thankful she was to him, and saved his life. Sadie is the hero of the week. Here's the story from CBS News>>.

Rescue dog that nobody wanted saves life of new owner

  Feb 26, 2021 7:09 PM EST

The Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge in New Jersey is a shelter of last resort. "Our purpose is really to take the ones that don't have anywhere else to go. And that was Sadie," said executive director Megan Brinster. Sadie was nearly 100 pounds and she wasn't great with men, which is why three other shelters turned her away.

It's also why Brian Myers adopted her. "I thought, let me give this dog a chance because she's beautiful and I think I can work through her issues," Myers said. He thought he was rescuing her. Little did he know he was saving his savior.

"I was very lucky to have her the night that I had the stroke," Myers said. "I was getting up out of the bed and as soon as I stood up here, I fell straight down. And my cellphone was over there. And that's when I grabbed her collar and she pulled me out of this little space here." Sadie pulled him across the room to his phone.

"As far as I know she had never been trained as a service dog or anything," Myers said. Brinster said rescue dogs are often incredibly loyal. "When you have a dog who has lost something — all the dogs that come here have lost a family, a person, or they never quite had that. So when they make that connection, you really become their world," Brinster said. Myers said Sadie constantly tracks him.

Obviously she was there the night he needed her most. Myers was rushed to Englewood Health in Englewood, New Jersey, that night.

He spent a couple weeks in treatment and rehabilitation. Just before his release, he had a very grateful visitor. "She just immediately jumped on me and was kissing my face, knocked my glasses and my mask off, and I just thought, I love this dog," he said.

You don't need to be Doctor Dolittle to hear Sadie say, "I love you, too."

"Mr. Biden (Bring My Vaccine)" - A NEW Randy Rainbow Song Parody (to Mr. Sandman)

Randy Rainbow does it again!  Here's his latest brilliant parody. This is a parody of the song "Mr. Sandman"- and he ties it to the vaccine for COVID19.  In the beginning of it, there's also an hysterical short part (where he falls asleep).  Love this parody song!!

Another Great Sci-fi Book from Rick Poldark: Return to Primordial Island

If you like Indiana Jones kinds of adventures, filled with dinosaurs, supernatural objects and entities and civilizations of intelligent reptiles and apes, then you'll love Rick Poldark's second novel in his series. "Return to Primordial Island" was just as gripping and enjoyable as the first in the series. It's definitely a sequel and some of the main characters from the first novel are the center of this second novel (that just came out in October 2020). It usually takes me a couple of weeks (2-3) to read a novel, but I couldn't wait to see what happens next as the characters move through Primordial Island to combat al of the lifeforms that awaited them. 5 of 5 stars!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Barely surviving her first expedition to the primordial island, Dr. Tracey Moran joins a mission to rescue those left behind. Better armed and prepared, the new expedition finds the lost world in chaos. Dr. Peter Albanese, having accidentally awoken an extinct reptilian race, must now protect the friendly indigenous tribe from their relentless attacks. A sympathetic reptilian figure reveals some of the island’s history and sets Peter on a quest to awaken an extinct simian race and restore balance. All the while, an evil entity bent on escaping the island stalks Peter and the other survivors. Reunited, Tracey and Peter must contend with hungry dinosaurs, mythical forces, and corporate greed to restore balance and escape with their lives.

Franklin the Dachshund's Spirit Drops in for a Birthday Week Appearance

Our red, short-haired Dachshund Franklin passed on May 8, 2020 at the age of 16 years old. This week, On March 15, just three days before what would have been his 17th birthday he made a pretty surprising visual appearance. Here's what happened, and why it's not uncommon with dogs in spirit.>>

There are 2 dog beds in our kitchen. One is a large bed next to sliding glass doors. The other is a small rounded bed that is at the end of cabinet run.  The little bed sits in front of 2 feet of wall before the wall opens into our living room. So if you walk into the kitchen from the living room and look down to your right, you'll see the small rounded dog bed there.

(Photo Memory: Franklin loved sitting in that small kitchen bed)

That was one of Franklin's favorite spots to sit.

On Monday, March 15, I finished work in my upstairs office and had just come downstairs to go into the kitchen to make dinner. As I turned the corner, I saw Franklin's shadow in the bed!

Our other dogs, Tyler and Dash were behind me, so I instantly KNEW it was Franklin!

SO, WHY DID HE APPEAR? He made an appearance because this week is his birthday (actually, it's March 18th, the day I am publishing this).  Spirits of our loved ones, whether pets or people, will appear around birthdays, anniversaries (with pets, it's adoption or passing dates) or holidays. They make these quick appearances to let us know they are still very much around us from the other side.

WHY DID HE APPEAR AS A SHADOW?  As I've written in my Pets and the Afterlife series of books, spirits are energy. When they don't have quite enough energy to appear in full color, they appear as a shadow. Further, they can't maintain that appearance long, so his little shadow quickly disappeared, but not before I saw it and was able to identify him.

READ MORE SIGNS - You can read more signs in my series of books called "Pets and the Afterlife" - and there are three different volumes. All are available on Amazon and all have been Amazon best-sellers. In fact, Franklin's passing and first amazing signs are in my latest book "Pets and the Afterlife 3: Messages from Spirit Dogs" that debuted at Number 1 on Amazon under "Pet Loss/Grief" on January 7, 2021.

ABOUT  : Pets and the Afterlife 3: Messages from Spirit Dogs

This third volume in a series of books authored by Rob Gutro on pet communications from the afterlife focuses solely on how dogs and how they communicate from spirit. In addition, there is a special chapter by a licensed professional on how to cope with grief.

Through personal stories, pet parents relate how their dogs in spirit gave them signs and messages either directly or through a reading with Rob. This book will teach you how to recognize signs and receive messages on your own, and how to work through your grief. You'll learn when it comes to spirit there is no such thing as a coincidence.

"Your books made me understand a sign that our dog sent me, when she had died. It is true that, without the guidance you give, such signs would remain odd little events with no explanation." - Grazia Piombo

OUCH! Painful Ulnar Wrist Nerve from Typing - and How I Fixed It

If you've been in the telework mode during the pandemic over the last year as I have, it's easy to develop carpal tunnel symptoms and wrist pain. The trick is keeping your arm straight- in an ergonomically correct position. I tend to drop my elbow, OR have rested my hand on my mouse pad. The resting of the hand and rubbing it adversely affected my nerves in the Ulnar position of my wrist and it felt like it was on FIRE!  -   Then the fiery feeling continued when I wasn't typing and kept me awake at Night when I was trying to sleep. So, I went to the doctor - and he helped.  In today's blog you'll see what I did to help, so you can do it, too.

(Photo: The location of the fiery pain at the top of the Ulnar part of my wrist)

WHAT HAPPENED?
  First, Carpal Tunnel syndrome developed.
Second, the nerves on the top part of the Ulnar (part of the wrist) were very swollen and inflamed.
Third, it became so inflamed that even a shirt sleeve brushing it made it feel like it was on Fire!

HOW'S HOW WE CORRECTED IT:
1) MEDICATION TO REDUCE INITIAL SWELLING - He had to give me Prednisone (for 9 days) and that dramatically reduced the swelling
2) STRAIGHTEN ARM - I now make a conscious effort to keep my arm straight while typing (and NOT rest my wrist on the desk)
3) BRACE - At night I wear an arm brace to keep the wrist from moving. This helps a LOT
4) WORKOUT GLOVES- I work out every night. So, the doc recommended New Workout gloves with Wrist Wrap supports. I bought them immediately and they helped.
(Photo: the wrist brace I wear at night that eases the pain)

OTHER THINGS TO DO:
Try these tips:
  1. Adjust how you work or type.
  2. Use ergonomic and padded tools.
  3. Avoid activities that aggravate your symptoms.
  4. Avoid resting your elbow on furniture or armrests. ...
  5. Apply ice to the area.
  6. Wear a wrist brace or splint.
  7. Take OTC pain relievers or anti-inflammatory medications.

MILITARY ISN’T STANDING FOR CARLSON’S HATEFUL COMMENTS

Last week, Fox News’ Tucker Carlson insinuated that the U.S. military is becoming more “feminine” and complained about accommodations for pregnant servicewomen while praising the masculinity of China’s Navy.  Many high-ranking members of the U.S. military criticized Carlson’s words, including Gen. Paul Funk, Marine Corps Master Gunnery Sgt. Scott H. Stalker, Maj. Gen. Patrick Donahoe and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, who reportedly expressed “revulsion” at the comments.

One U.K. Homeowner Broke into their Wall to Rescue Their Cat

As a dog dad, I haven't had experience with cats, but I know their curiosity can get them in a LOT of trouble sometimes. Earlier this month, there was a story from England where a cat got into a chimney and the homeowner actually had to break through the wall and remove bricks from the chimney to get the cat out. That Darn Cat!  Here's the story>>

Missing Wirral (England) cat rescued from half-way down chimney
BBC NEWS, March 2, 2021
A missing cat has been rescued through a hole in a bedroom wall after getting stuck half-way down a chimney.

The mischievous moggy, called Fluffy, fell down the flue after climbing on to the roof of a house in New Ferry, Wirral on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021.

Firefighters could not see the cat from either end of the chimney so they decided to knock a brick out of a wall inside the property.

Fluffy's owner completed the dramatic rescue by enticing him out of the hole.

The adventurous feline had been missing for five days before he was spotted on the roof of the house in Grove Square.

But when a neighbour used a ladder to try to rescue him from the roof, Fluffy fell down the chimney, said an RSPCA inspector.

Fluffy's owner Tracey Baker said the cat "obviously got scared when someone went up to rescue him and he was stuck in the wall of the house".

"It was so nice to get Fluffy back. I kept him in for a few days and hope he has learned his lesson so he won't go too far again, I know he certainly missed his food," she added.

Wow! Pompeii: Archaeologists unveil ceremonial chariot discovery

We had the opportunity to visit the Italian ancient city of Pompeii in 2016, and it's a must-see. Before that civilization was buried under ash from the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D., it was quite the advanced society. They have street signs, the had restaurants with counters that had different containers of foods to choose from, bakeries, stone-lined streets, elaborate houses with painted murals, windows to allow light in, courtyards, arenas and so much more. As the city continues to be excavated even today, archaeologists find more things. This time it's a chariot!  Here's the Story from BBC News/and the release from Pompeii Archaeological Park

Pompeii: Archaeologists unveil ceremonial chariot discovery

Archaeologists in Italy have unveiled a ceremonial chariot they discovered near the ancient Roman city of Pompeii.

The four-wheeled carriage was found near a stable where three horses were uncovered back in 2018.

Experts believe it was likely used in festivities and parades, with the find described as "exceptional" and "in an excellent state of preservation".

The chariot was found in a double-level portico connected to stables at an ancient villa at Civita Giuliana, north of the walls of the ancient city.
Here's the link to the press release issued by the archaeological Park: http://pompeiisites.org/en/comunicati/the-four-wheeled-processional-chariot-the-last-discovery-of-pompeii/

(Photo: The chariot unearthed in Pompeii. Credit: Pompeii Archaeological Park, Italy)

A statement by the park described the ceremonial chariot as having "iron components, beautiful bronze and tin decorations" as well as ropes and floral decoration discovered "almost intact".

The Park's press release said, "Atop high iron wheels, connected by an advanced mechanical system, rests the light carriage (0.90 x 1.40 m), or the main part of the chariot, where the seat was located, surrounded by metal arm and backrests, for either one or two individuals. The carriage is richly decorated along both sides with alternating engraved bronze sheet and red and black painted wooden panels, whilst at the rear there is a complex and extensive decorative system featuring three distinct registers with a succession of bronze and tin medallions with figurative scenes. These medallions, set in bronze sheet and surrounded by decorative motifs, represent male and female figures in relief, depicted in erotic scenes."

Archaeologists say efforts to safely free the chariot took weeks after it first emerged during an excavation effort on 7 January.

They said the fragility of the materials involved made their effort particularly complex, with special techniques, including plaster moulding, used to uncover it without damage.

Idiot of the Week: Drunk, Gun-toting, Right-wing, Retired Florida Woman Threatens FBI

This week's Idiot of the Week is a retired woman from Boca Raton, Florida who was apparently at the Insurrection of the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and decided she would go on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook and post a video threatening the lives of FBI Agents who were going to question her. These Trumpanzees are seriously mentally ill. This woman is proof of that theory. Her video rant is laced with expletives as she chugged down booze. That's a dangerous combination: An old, drunk, right-wing, gun-toting, wacko.

Here's the story and video from reporter Brandon Lopez of WPBF-TV, Palm Beach, Florida.

WPBF-TV, WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A Boca Raton woman is facing charges after threatening to kill FBI agents. According to officials, Suzanne Kaye posted information on her Facebook page that she was present at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, the day hundreds of rioters overtook the Capitol while the presidential election results were being certified.

On Jan. 28, officials contacted her and were interested in learning more about her travel to Washington, D.C. earlier that month. Officials said Kaye denied having traveled to Washington, D.C., but said she was aware of people who did travel there.

She agreed to speak with the FBI and gave officials her address in Boca Raton.

A complaint affidavit alleges that on Jan. 31, Kaye posted a video to her Facebook page titled "ANGRY Patriot Hippie," which was captioned "F--- the FBI!!" In the video, Kaye announced she got a call from the FBI asking about her travel to Washington, D.C. She then said she wouldn't speak to the FBI without counsel and that she would exercise "my second amendment right to shoot your f------ ass if you come here."

The FBI said that implies using violence against FBI agents if they were to come to her home.

Kaye then posted the same video to her Instagram and TikTok accounts, according to an affidavit. Kaye appeared before a federal magistrate judge in West Palm Beach the week of Feb. 20. A bond hearing was set for Feb. 24.

Good People of the Week: Citizen Sleuths Create Website to Assist the FBI

It's great when people decide to use their talents to combat evil, just like real-life superheroes. Recently these good people of the week decided to do just that using their computer skills and talents to help the FBI identify track the insurrectionists who stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.  Here's the story:

Rescue Dog Became Krypto the Superdog on TV's Titans (Superhero) Show

As a dog dad, dog rescuer AND a huge superhero fan (especially loving Superman's dog, Krypto), this is a moving story of a rescue dog at death's door was saved by the producers of one of my favorite superhero television programs. This dog was given the chance to become Krypto.
Here's the story from Comicbook dot com

Titans' Krypto Has a Heartbreaking Real-Life Origin Story

Before Pepsi landed the role of Superboy's sidekick Krypto on DC's Titans, the dog was on the verge of being euthanized.

BY MATH ERAO, Comicbook.com March 1, 2021

Like many superheroes, the real-life dog behind Krypto on Titans has a heartbreaking origin story.

Animal trainer Melissa Millett spoke with Kansas' WKRG about finding Pepsi, the white dog that plays the role of Superboy's sidekick on DC's live-action Teen Titans TV series. Originally, the dog was discovered in Missouri as a puppy, clinging to life in the cold. He had heartworms and was up for being euthanized at the crowded shelter in Leavenworth, KS, that he ended up in.

"They took him to the shelter, and there’s just too many dogs, so he was at risk for euthanasia," said Millett, who trains animals for TV and movies. Luckily, Pepsi looked the part of the comic book canine. "The dog has to look like the comic book character, and Pepsi is the closest that we found to that original comic book character look," Millett continued.

As it turns out, it was something Kansas-specific that helped Pepsi stand out. "He was wearing a Kansas City Chiefs collar, and it looked like a superhero collar," Millett said. "So we took that as a sign, so we were just rooting for them in the Super Bowl. It’s amazing."

(Image: Krypto the Superdog, by Alex Ross)

Like in the comics, Krypto has superpowers similar to all Kryptonians on Earth. And Season 3 of the show will feature even more of the powerful pup.

"It’s an extremely popular show, and [Krypto] has all of Superboy’s powers. He can fly. He has human intelligence. He’s got laser eyes, just it’s really cool. I knew I wanted him to be a movie star, so all of his training is geared towards being a movie star," Millett concluded.

Season 3 of the show will feature even more characters from comic book lore. Starfire will have to contend with her sister, Blackfire. And with Dick Grayson now Nightwing and Jason Todd becoming Red Hood, Tim Drake's Robin will make his live-action debut.
