Dash's 13th Birthday Celebration!

Dash at Petco with some of his presents
On Saturday, August 15th, our little Dash a 10 pound Dachshund/Chihuahua mix,
celebrated his 13th birthday (There were 2 different dates for his birthday on the adoption paperwork in 2018- the 15th and the 22nd so we opted for the 15th). This was only the 2nd birthday he's had with us as he came to us 2 years ago. In today's blog, you'll read about his birthday trip to Petco and how excited he was and how he came into our family 2 years ago.

DASH'S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION - Although we're in the middle of a pandemic, it's important to celebrate our kids' birthdays. So, Dash got a walk in the morning after breakfast (Tyler is recovering from his lumpectomy - non-cancerous surgery, and Dolly was too tired to walk). Later in the day we took Dash to Petco for toys and treats.
SO EXCITED-    Dash was so excited to be in the store that he actually Pooped in one of the aisles! It was embarrassing, but, hey, he's a senior, and when you're a senior, pooping happens sometimes. :)  One of the Petco employees noticed before I did and was picking it up for me.

TOYS AND TREATS -   Dash loves a stuffed toy in the shape of a bone, so I found him one. Also got him a small stuffed toy that looks like a chicken, because his nickname is "Chicken." (When he barks, his little bark sounds like a chicken clucking!). He also got some jerky treats.
He strutted out of the store with his head and tail up, and was a happy pup!

WHEN DASH CAME TO OUR FAMILY: In July 2018, our friend Shelley of Dachshund Rescue of North America told us about a little senior Dachshund/Chihuahua mix desperately needing to be rescued from a county animal shelter. The Shelter had so many dogs and Dash had been there the longest. He was OUT of TIME. So, Shelley asked if we would be willing to free him and foster him. We readily agreed. We freed him from the Anne Arundel Animal Control Center on July 21, 2018. He was there since June 10, and the shelter ran out of room... so he had to be fostered immediately. 10 years old, 8 lbs. Birthday: Aug. 22. We ADOPTED Dash on Aug. 10, 2018.
