Spain Trip #19: Barcelona: Eating Out

L to R: Dan, Bruce, Tom, Scott, Gary, Doug, David, Rob
In today's blog, we're going to tell you about a couple of meals we enjoyed in Barcelona.
The first night we ate with the guys in our tour group at a Tapas restaurant.
Most of the rest of the time we found bakeries for a light lunch and other places that had dinner at 5 or 6 pm (because we can't eat before we go to bed.  In Spain, most people have dinner after 8 or 9 pm, and we think that's crazy!!  Besides, many of the restaurants were very pricey, but we always found good ones that were very affordable. In this blog we'll tell you about one of those.

The  Barcelona restaurant that's a great value is called La Garriga. We ate there a couple of nights during our stay because the food was good and it was very affordable!  It's always good to find reasonably priced restaurants on vacation.    We even met 2 others on vacation and had a great conversation. Nothing like making memories on vacation.

WHAT IS LA GARRIGA?  - Well, there are 2 answers. The first is that it's the name of a a municipality in the province of Barcelona and autonomous community of Catalonia, Spain. But the one we want to talk about is a great and moderately priced restaurant of the same name in Barcelona.
WHERE IS IT? Carrer Mallorca, 272. Tele. 934-874-765  redmallorca@lagarriga.com
There are tables outside on the wide sidewalk if you want to sit there, too. The inside is nice, though and there's also a bar. .
FOOD - The food was great. We enjoyed a hamburger and chicken sandwich. Tom had white wine, I had hot tea. The service was great, too.
COST- It's about $$ out of $$$$$ in terms of expense, so it's really reasonable!
For the 2 of us, the cost was about 14 Euros. (Some of the guys were eating in restaurants where it cost them 40 Euros EACH!)

A NICE MEMORY - One night in La Garriga we sat next to 2 women on vacation together. They were from Ireland and Scotland.Since we've been to both places,we enjoyed talking to them about their homelands. I told them about my new book "Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation." One of them surprised me and told me her favorite TV show is "NCIS."
