December 24, 2009
Hi all - Most of you know I'm a meteorologist- so here's my christmas gift to you:A Christmas weekend forecast for MANY CITIES!!
FORECAST CITIES: Boston, MA; Portland, Maine/Portsmouth, NH; Birmingham, AL; Macon and Atlanta, GA; Nashville, TN; Baltimore/Washington, DC; Eastern Virginia/Virginia Beach, VA; New York City;; Dallas, TX

TRAVELERS NOTE: Major snow / rain system affecting central US today from Michigan and Minnesota through Iowa, Illinois, the Ohio Valley, Missouri, Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee Valley, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Oklahoma – ALL PUSHING EAST>>>> Be prepared for Travel Delays!!

WEATHER SUMMARY FOR THE MID-ATLANTIC: high pressure will remain across the mid atlantic today. A storm System will affect the region late christmas eve night through Saturday with a wintry mix initially followed by rain. An upper Level low will influence the region sunday and monday...then cold High pressure builds in for mid week. From the Mid-Atlantic up to NYC. Because of the solid snow pack, we've got cold air trapped at the surface, and we're expecting below freezing overnight temperatures from NYC to Baltimore/Washington. That means that any rain falling (especially before Daybreak) may freeze on pavement… causing black ice. The precipitation will be light, and will likely start in the Balt/Wash area by 4 am Christmas morning- so travel is recommended TODAY. It will move from SW to NE.
