Mondays on my blog are about local things we do, or local events and things. Today is a "What did you do - Blog." What do you do for entertainment in southern Maine and New Hampshire? Well, the weekend of August 24-25th offered Apple and Peach picking and a Pride Festival, so we did both! Today's blog is about the Pride Event and some really good organizations we encountered there.
OTHER VENDORS - The Mass General Brigham hospital was there, and asked attendees about concerns in health care for LGBTQ people. That was really thoughtful. There were a number of "Get out the Vote" booths, Black Lives Matter, jewelry and crafts vendors and 2 others I'll spotlight that we found interesting:
WHO IS 603 FORWARD? - In tackling the generational crisis facing New Hampshire, 603 Forward educates, engages, and activates working-age adults to drive pro-next-generation policy change and support like-minded leaders in their pursuit of public office. Whether it’s testifying at hearings, engaging with local elected officials, knocking doors for a young leader or recruiting the next generation to public office, 603 Forward is building a future for our generation to thrive. POPE MEMORIAL HUMANE SOCIETY OF COCHECO VALLEY -A community-funded, nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, Pope Memorial Humane Society (PMHS) is dedicated to promoting the humane treatment of animals in Strafford County, NH and Southern Maine. We are a safe, temporary home for more than 1,000 surrendered, lost, abused, neglected, or unwanted animals each year. https://popememorialcvhs.org/
COMICS SHOP! - My comic book shop is in Rochester, and just a 4 minute walk from the festivities, so we dropped in (although we go every Wednesday). Of course, I had to get something!
