 Today we’d like to introduce you to Rob Gutro.  

Rob Gutro is an author, paranormal investigator and medium with Inspired Ghost Tracking of Maryland. He’s become known as a pet medium, although he communicate with pets and people who have passed. Since he was a child he could receive messages from ghosts or spirits (who have crossed over). As a scientist, he also provides some scientific explanations about how energy is the baseline for the afterlife and the medium that entities use to communicate. He has published 9 books, and all have been best sellers, and he’s won an international book award in 2021 and 2022.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way? Not a smooth road, but marketing my books has been the most difficult to do. It’s more time consuming and challenging than writing a book! – There have also been nay-sayers and critics, but they are far and few between. It’s always a challenge to not let those people discourage you. But persistence and determination are the keys to success. That and the ability to come up with creative ways to communicate- I’ve created lectures, post cards, press kits, searched for radio, tv, newspaper and podcast interviews, have attended paranormal conventions, work with animal rescues and much more.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do? I am an author, paranormal investigator and medium with Inspired Ghost Tracking of Maryland. I have become known as a pet medium, although I communicate with pets and people who have passed. 

Also- Something Unique in the paranormal field- I’m a scientist (Meteorologist) As a scientist, I provide some scientific explanations about how energy is the baseline for the afterlife and the medium that entities use to communicate. I’m proud of becoming known around the world for my afterlife readings of pets who have passed. Some of those readings and confirmations are in my books.

Never give up. Focus on the good responses, and make them drown out the negative ones.

My Shingles Experience (Vaccine Breakthrough): How It Happened, How I'm treating it

Shingles are a painful, swollen, red, scab-like disease that comes out on the skin, either on the torso or the face. Shingles feels like someone is holding a match to your skin- like it's on fire.  I have it on my face right now. 

   I had the vaccine, but that's effective only in 97% of the population. I'm in the unlucky 3% that get a breakthrough case despite having the vaccine (but thanks to the vaccine, it's less severe). WHY? I have asthma and psoriasis- which both weaken my immune system, so it was able to break through. Here's my experience, why I still got it, HOW I'm treating it, and why YOU should get the vaccine ASAP.

WHAT IS SHINGLES? Shingles, also known as herpes zoster, is a viral infection that typically causes a painful blistering rash. You get it if you had Chicken Pox when younger. It usually affects older adults or people with weakened immune systems. The rash typically appears on one side of the face or body and lasts two to four weeks.

MY STORY: I got the 2 dose Shingles Vaccine earlier this year.

It started when I developed a rash on my right cheek on Nov. 4th (Day 1). It looked like psoriasis. Little did I know it would open the door for Shingles. Again If you have an autoimmune disease, it will weaken your immune system. Since I have 2 autoimmune issues: Asthma AND Psoriasis. those allowed for a breakthrough shingles episode to make a return appearance (from 2012).

Five days later (Day 5), on Nov. 9th I had a dermatology appointment, and the doctor told me to use Vtama and a moisturizer, as it had the same appearance as psoriasis. She also put me on Prednisone to reduce the Inflammation.

By Monday, Nov 14th, it was WORSE and began BURNING. My face felt like someone was holding a match to my cheek. Continually!

I had a same-day visit with my family Doctor. He said "SHINGLES is Often mistaken for PSORIASIS." Good to know. - He confirmed the burning feeling is SHINGLES.

TOO LATE FOR ANTI-VIRALS - Anti-virals will reduce the longevity of shingles, but ONLY if taken in the first 3-4 days of the outbreak. Because I was 10 days into the outbreak, I couldn't take them. (Fortunately, in 2012, I caught it on day 3 and the anti-virals helped rid me of it in 2 weeks. I wasn't that lucky this time because it appeared differently and didn't burn at first).

TREATMENTS

GABAPENTIN TREATMENT - If you miss the anti-viral window (first 3 days), you get Gabapentin to help manage the pain.

WHAT DOES GABAPENTIN DO? Gabapentin is used to manage a condition called postherpetic neuralgia, which is pain that occurs after shingles. Gabapentin works in the brain to prevent seizures and relieve pain for certain conditions in the nervous system. Note: It is not used for routine pain caused by minor injuries or arthritis. BUT, it doesn't make the pain go away, just lessens the BURNING.

HOW TO STOP THE BURNING IMMEDIATELY - GET ACUPUNCTURE. - On Nov. 18th, my Acupuncturist, Dr. Tom Malik of ShorePoint Wellness, Crownsville, MD treated me for Shingles, and IMMEDIATELY after, the Hot, searing, burning pain was reduced to a Tingling. Since then - The only time it now burns is when I'm stressed. It's an AMAZING difference. Acupuncture Works!

COLOR CHANGES OVER 25 DAYS - In the beginning, it looked like psoriasis with light redness to the skin, and in small bumps.

On Day 10, it turned a whitish color.

By Day 14 it returned to a reddish color.

By Day 18, it turned very dark red.

By Day 25, the scabby area has diminished in size to a 2" by 1" in circumference area- and took on a lighter, more pinkish/white color. It also looked more scab-like.

HOW LONG DOES SHINGLES LAST? I've read conflicting info on-line. Bottom line: It could last between 3 and 11 weeks. YUP. 3 months on your face or torso, so don't get discouraged.

ANY LASTING EFFECTS?  A possible consequence of shingles is a chronic, often debilitating pain that can linger after the rash clears up. A less common complication affects the eye in up to one in four cases and may result in prolonged pain, facial scarring, and, in rare instances, vision loss.

MAKING THE BEST OF IT - Since I have VIDEO telecons at work, I tell people that I'm dressed up as the Batman Villain, Two-Face. (Pic right) - You have to laugh instead of being miserable about stuff you can't control.

WHY YOU NEED TO GET THE VACCINE - If you do get shingles, the vaccine is likely to make the symptoms milder and the illness shorter. The Vaccine does not guarantee you will not get shingles, but it will reduce your chances. You'll also be less likely to get shingles complications, such as post-herpetic neuralgia.

DAY 25 (Photo right) - On Nov 29th, the pile of shingles still sat on my face but it's now pinkish/white and scabby looking. It's getting smaller and has moved away from my eye and my lips- and is shrinking. It's also itchy, so keep it moist with the Shingles cream I mentioned above!

DAY 46: On Dec. 20, 2022, the shingles area had greatly decreased and was fading significantly. I still apply the Terrasil, Shingles Skincare ointment, daily with a moisturizer on top of it. That's because Shingles is drying the skin.

I'm hoping that by Jan. 1, which would close to 60 days, that it will be gone.

Bottom Line: Get the Shingles Vaccine. Especially if you have any immuno-compromising issues like asthma or psoriasis. The vaccine will at least make it less severe. I can't imagine how bad it would have been if I had not had the vaccine.

SUMMARY OF WHAT TO DO FOR AN OUTBREAK: *Get to a doctor or a walk in clinic ASAP if you suspect Shingles *Ask for an Anti-viral to reduce the length of the outbreak *Get acupuncture for them to reduce (in my case it was eliminate) the pain. *If too late for antiviral, you'll get Gabapentin for 30 days to ease nerve pain * Buy the Terrasil, Shingles Skincare ointment, and apply it 2-3 times daily. *Be Patient

Idiots of the Week: A Texas Family- All Broke into the U.S. Capitol

 Here's a whole family of idiots. What a wonderful family. NOT.  They're truly a bunch of IDIOTS ..

Texas Family Of 5 Sentenced Together For Breaking Into U.S. Capitol On Jan. 6

The parents got jail time and their three adult children were sentenced to probation and home confinement.

Five members of a Texas family were sentenced on Wednesday for storming the U.S. Capitol together on Jan. 6, 2021.

The parents, Dawn and Thomas Munn, of Borger, Texas, brought four of their children with them to the insurrection, three of whom were adults.

The adult members of the Munn family pleaded guilty to parading and demonstrating or picketing inside a Capitol building. According to court documents, they climbed into the Capitol through a broken window.

The parents were sentenced to 14 days imprisonment, 3 years probation and 90 days of home confinement. The eldest daughter, Kristi Munn, received 3 years of probation with home detention. The other adult children, Josh Munn and Kayli Munn, were sentenced to 3 years probation without home detention. The minor was not charged.

At the sentencing hearing, Dawn Munn said she was in Washington, D.C., to seek answers about the 2020 election, and continued to parrot concerns about election security in the U.S.

“I was looking for somebody to show me proof that our election was going to be secure,” she said, per CNN. “If we don’t have a secure election, we don’t have a country. This is a country by the voice of the people.”

Thomas Munn said he had never been political before. “I just kept watching what was happening on the news, and I felt we should speak out,” he said.  Asked what news programs he watched, he said: “Fox News.”

The family was brought to the FBI’s attention three days after the riot. The tipster said Kristi Munn had made numerous social media posts about entering the Capitol on Jan. 6, according court documents. The family also appeared in surveillance footage inside the building.

The Munns were arrested in July 2021 and each was charged with four federal crimes.

Hero of the Week: Maine yacht maker will pay off student loans for new employees

 This week's HERO is a yacht maker in northeastern Maine who understands the struggle to pay tuition, and has offered the benefit of paying off student loans for new employees! BRAVO! I wish my employers did after I graduated. No matter, we need to be happy for others who don't need to ensure some of the struggles we did- it's all about helping each other!  It's wonderful to see others getting help. Here's the story from the Bangor daily news.

Maine yacht maker will pay off student loans for new employees

In hopes of attracting more qualified workers, a yacht manufacturer is working with a Maine boat-building school to help finance education.

Hinckley Yachts, which employs more than 250 people in Hancock County, hopes to add roughly another 25 to 40 positions to its manufacturing and service sectors in Maine in the coming year. To help with boosting the number of trained boat builders in Maine, Hinckley has established a student loan program at The Landing School, an accredited boat-building school in Arundel.

“We are very committed to developing the talents of our existing team members and recruiting new talent to the industry,” said Geoff Berger, CEO of The Hinckley Company. “The program will support both efforts, as do all our managers and team leaders on an ongoing basis, by training and teaching our time-honored methods on the job.”

Through the Hinckley Yachts Student Loan Assistance Program, Hinckley will help pay off student loans for Landing School graduates who get jobs with the company, which employs 60 people at its service yard in Southwest Harbor and another 200 people at its manufacturing site in Trenton.

The Landing School, founded in 1978, allows students to earn diplomas in its wooden boat building, composite boat building, marine systems and yacht design programs, and Associate’s degrees in marine industry technology.

Yacht building has long been a significant industry in the state, but — like many sectors of Maine’s economy — has faced over the past couple of years an “unprecedented labor shortage,” Hinckley officials said.

Hinckley’s roots date to 1928 when it was founded in Southwest Harbor, where it initially focused on building lobster fishing boats. Now based in Rhode Island, the company specializes in power and sailing pleasure craft and has a network of service yards from Florida to Maine.

Richard Matthews, a spokesman for Hinckley Yachts, said recent high school graduates are eligible for the financial aid, but that the yacht company and the school are focusing more on recruiting people who are looking to switch careers.

“We’re working more than we ever have at the Landing School, where educators are collaborating with the industry to try to figure out ways to find new students,” Matthews said. “It’s more about people that want to reinvent themselves and change careers.”

Very Excited- My Books Received a Nice Bump in Sales after Coast to Coast AM Interview!

Early on the morning of Nov. 22nd from 3-5am Eastern Time, I had a wonderful interview on Coast to Coast AM with host George Noory about all three series of my books, Pets and the Afterlife, On Medium's Vacation, and Ghosts and Spirits. - Later that day, Amazon reported many of them (some years old) were back in the top 50, even top 30 in various categories. If you're a writer, seek podcasts and radio programs - and ask to be a guest. It makes a difference.  Coast to Coast AM is THE biggest Paranormal show in the world on air and on-line, and I'm humbled they asked me back this second time.   Today's blog shows you the Numbers / Rankings of the books -because, well, I'm really excited and proud.

Many of my books were well received by listeners of Coast to Coast AM after my interview on Nov. 22, 2022 and jumped in ranking on Amazon into the top 50 of various categories.
