This week's book of the week, "Lost in Time" by A.G. Riddle, was really fascinating and enjoyable. It combined time travel, science and dinosaurs! Those are three things that intrigued me when I saw it pop up on my Amazon feed, so I bought it, read it, and loved it. **I was also encouraged that the author self published the way I do, and now he's known world-wide and has 4 potential film deals!) That's today's book of the week.
The author really takes in the reader with the characters. The story is fascinating. It's about a group of scientists trying to create a machine that will transport goods to various places in the world to expedite shipping... but it turns out their creation is used to exile criminals to a prehistoric past. When one of the scientists confesses to a murder he didn't commit (because he thinks one of his relatives did it), he's thrown back into the Triassic period. Meanwhile, his teenage daughter in the present tries to solve the murder... and there's a time travel twist.
I was captivated as a reader, and wanted to know how it ended. In the middle of the book, there was a twist I didn't see coming, and it was ingenious.
I also appreciated the way the author divided the book up into 5 major sections. That was really helpful, because as the story progressed, it was a good way to indicate major story shifts. I also love it when authors write short chapters. It makes it easier to read. This is a 5 of 5 star read.
PERSONAL NOTE: A.G. Riddle published his first novel using Amazon KDP. That's the same platform where I've published all 14 of my books. He was discovered there and now has another publisher and he just signed an agreement for a possibility of making 4 of his books into films. That's a success story!
ABOUT THE BOOK: Lost in Time by A.G. Riddle is a science fiction thriller about a scientist, Sam Anderson, who is framed for murder and sent back 200 million years to the Triassic period as punishment, using a time-travel device he helped create. While surviving among dinosaurs, he must find a way to get back to the future to save his family, who are simultaneously trying to uncover the truth and clear his name in the present. The book blends time travel, mystery, and suspense, with a plot that involves a conspiracy and a race against time across different eras.
