Swinging Through the Trees at The Adventure Park

L to R: Tom, Scotty, Rob, Doug, Brian
Last week, my (Rob) brother and 2 nephews visited for a couple of days while looking at different colleges and universities in the region. But we got to take 2 days out of their schedule to enjoy some fun with them. One of the two days we found an amazing adventure park with zip lines, and balancing courses through the trees. Today we'll tell you about it (and we also went to Annapolis). Read on!

THE TREE TOP PHYSICAL CHALLENGE - It's called the Adventure Park at Sandy Spring Friends School and it's located at 16701 Norwood Road, Sandy Spring, Maryland 20860.

ABOUT THE PARK: This aerial forest adventure is fun, exciting and secure for all participants. We provide a harness and equipment and give you a safety briefing that demonstrates how to climb and zip line in the park. There are 13 separate trails of varying levels of difficulty. Each trail has zip lines but primarily consist of “bridges” between tree platforms made of rope, cable and wood configurations creating over 190 unique challenges. You will develop skills, endurance, and confidence during your time in the Park.

COLOR CODED TREE TRAILS - They have yellow, green, blue, black and double black diamond coded trails that range from beginner to most difficult. Tom and I did yellow and green with the boys, and then they tried a black diamond trail.. they did it, but Scotty admitted it was pretty scary, even buckled in.

There were several zip lines included, but we wished there were more. Of course, I'm afraid of heights, so this was a bit more of a challenge.

DON'T TAKE YOUR PHONE- They showed a bucket of over 100 broken phones that fell out of people's pockets, and smashed into the forest below. Not worth taking the phone for a picture.

ANNAPOLIS- Since we live close enough to Maryland's capital city, we took my brother and the boys there to walk around and grab dinner. They took some pictures outside of the Naval Academy, walked the main street, and took a couple of cool pictures of the State House.
