Book of the Week: Murder She Wrote: A Little Yuletide Murder

Just before Christmas, I read the latest Murder She Wrote mystery called "A Killer Christmas," which I blogged about on December 26th. But I remembered another Christmas-themed book in the series called "A Little Yuletide Murder" by Donald Bain and Jessica Fletcher, so I re-read it the week of Christmas. That's the BOOK of the WEEK!

I've read most in the series (there are almost 63) and I re-read them. It's my all -time favorite mystery series, and this one is a great read. It's about the town Santa found murdered in his barn and there are some odd characters as suspects. There are a lot of twists and turns to the story and it's solved as only Jessica Fletcher can solve it. So, if you're looking for a great christmas-time murder mystery, get a copy of this one! It was published back in 1998, and 27 years later, it's still an awesome read!

BOOK SUMMARY: Jessica Fletcher is planning to spend a cozy Christmas in Cabot Cove. But when Rory Brent is found shot to death on his farm, there will be no peace on earth until his killer is found. Snooping into the small town's past for a motive, Jessica is determined to deliver the killer before Christmas. The trouble is, the next sound she hears this silent night may be a scream--her own?

Fantastic Mystery! The Ghost and Mrs. Fletcher (Murder She Wrote series)

We're both big fans of the 80s-90s TV show "Murder She Wrote" and the mystery book series has been as great as the TV show. I (Rob) have now read the 45th out of 47,  and it was amazing. It's called "The Ghost and Mrs. Fletcher" by Jessica Fletcher, Donald Bain and Renee Paley-Bain. The mainstay characters were in the novel like Mrs.Jessica Fletcher, mystery novelist; Sheriff Mort Metzger; Dr. Seth Hazlitt; Eve the newspaper owner/reporter, and Mara the bakery owner. The story involved the death of a man who owned an historic house that's supposed to be haunted. But the mystery is much deeper that could be imagined, and the twists and turns were really engaging. I read this book in 3 days (usually I read a book every 2 weeks). Truly one of the best mysteries I've read. 5 + out of 5 stars!

Here's the book summary: In the USA Today bestselling Murder, She Wrote series—make room for Jessica Fletcher as she cleans house to catch a killer who hasn’t got a ghost of a chance.
Angela Lansbury as Jessica Fletcher
Jessica’s friend, Eve Simpson is the town’s premier real estate agent and has recently taken on the task of selling one of Cabot Cove’s oldest properties—the Spencer Percy House, built in 1805 by a sea captain for his young wife. Its current occupant, Cliff Cooper, a crusty former carpenter, is convinced he’s about to die and wants the house sold so he can give the proceeds to his grandson, who spent much of his youth there.
But Eve’s got quite a challenge on her hands. Not only is the building in deplorable physical condition, it is also rumored to be haunted.
When Cliff’s deadly premonition becomes a reality, Dr. Seth Hazlitt is not so sure the man died of natural causes. As Jessica tries to get to the bottom of Cliff Cooper’s death, a medium hired by Eve attempts to rid the house of the alleged apparition. B
ut if Jessica isn’t careful, she may be the one who joins the ranks of the dearly departed.
