Idiot of the Week: Mother Supporting Trump: "No Big Deal if Men Grope My Daughters"

Idiot of the week (right) and her 2 teen daughters who agree with the idiot.
This week's IDIOT is a MOTHER of 2 daughters, who thinks it's perfectly fine for a man to grope her teenage daughters. Here's the story from MSNBC, AND the video interview if you don't believe it:

A female Trump supporter in Bozeman, Montana told her own daughters live on air that men groping women was “no big deal.” She also insisted that even if the assault allegations against Judge Kavanaugh are true, it “doesn’t take away from his character and his job to do what he needs to do as a Supreme Court nominee.”

An unidentified woman made a point of telling her two teen daughters this during a live interview Tuesday on MSNBC. “Groping a woman? At 18?” she said, before asking her daughters, “I mean, how many guys do you know who think that’s no big deal?”

After the two girls nodded in agreement, the mother reiterated, “It’s not a big deal.”

Gay Valedictorian Rejected By Baptist Parents - Gets Full Scholarship

Seth Owen on the Ellen Show
It's nice to see good come out of a bad situation. However, it's important to realized that Every day a young gay person gets thrown out of their house by their idiotic, bigoted, hyper religious parents. It happened recently, and a brilliant, gay young man was tossed out. When his story became known, people came to his rescue and he wound up getting a scholarship to college.
He still talks to his bigoted parents, which is more than most would do. They even put him through that ridiculous and harmful "gay conversion therapy" which has been deemed illegal in several states already.  However, focus on and enjoy this good news story

Ellen DeGeneres Gives Gay Valedictorian Rejected By Parents A Heartwarming Surprise

Georgetown University student Seth Owen was left speechless during an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Tuesday when he received an unexpected surprise from the host.
Owen, who hails from Florida, shot to viral fame in July after one of his teachers launched an online fundraiser to help him cover his college tuition. The 18-year-old graduated from Jacksonville’s First Coast High School at the top of his class, but he’d been unable to afford the $20,000 bill for Georgetown after his Southern Baptist parents ostracized him because he identifies as gay.
The fundraising campaign had a relatively modest goal of $20,000. It ended up raising $141,636 in just two months.

VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5zPWWEiHT0

In his chat with DeGeneres on Tuesday, Owen said his father discovered he was gay during his sophomore year. At that point, he said, he was sent to reparative, or “conversion,” therapy aimed at “curing” him of his same-sex attraction.
“The dangerous part about that is, as a patient, I believed that this health care professional was doing what was best for me,” Owen said. But a breaking point came during his senior year of high school after his church enlisted a new pastor who began preaching anti-LGBTQ sermons.
“I asked to go to a different church, and they said that I would either have to go with them or move out. And so I decided that day that I had to move out,” he said. Though his relationship with his parents remains “difficult,” he’s chosen to maintain contact.
“At the end of the day, they’re still my parents,” he said.
When Owen’s situation became widely publicized, Georgetown responded by offering him a full scholarship. Now, he said, he plans to use the money from the fundraiser to launch his own scholarship fund “for people in similar situations.”
At that point, DeGeneres presented the student with a $25,000 check toward the scholarship.
The heartwarming moment was preceded by Owen’s words of praise for DeGeneres as an outspoken LGBTQ rights icon.
“When I was writing my papers at 2 a.m., I often had to look up your videos for inspiration,” he said. “There were so many times that you really pulled me through, so I really appreciate that.”

A Great Cozy "Pet Boutique mystery": Collared for Murder

Annie Knox has written three books in the "Pet Boutique Mystery" series, and I've now read all three. The latest, "Collared for Murder" was as interesting and well-done as the first two. The lead character, Izzy, a 30 something woman who owns "Trendy Tails" pet Boutique in Minnesota, is surrounded by great characters including a quirky aunt named Dolly, a goth-type lesbian co-worker named Rena who bakes dog biscuits, Izzy's boyfriend Jack a police officer, and of course her dog and cat among others.
This books kept me guessing who the murderer was, although there were only a few suspects! You gain insight into cat shows, too. Well-worth the read.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Groomed for Murder’s Izzy McHale is back, and her pet boutique, Trendy Tails, is raking in the green. But someone else in town is seeing red.…

The Midwestern Cat Fanciers’ Organization is bringing its annual weeklong retreat to Merryville, Minnesota. While that’s perfect for Izzy’s business, it unleashes headaches for everyone else. The event has lots of workshops on the care and breeding of cats, and it culminates in a cat show with a fabulous prize—a platinum collar dangle worth some big bucks.

Cattiness, of course, ensues. But the claws really come out after the prize disappears, and the wealthy director, Phillip Denford, is done in with a pair of grooming shears. Now Izzy and her furry friends, Packer and Jinx, can’t waste time pussyfooting around. They have to solve this case before a killer pounces again.

Rob's Photos & Experiences from Event: "In the Doghouse" Store, Douglas, Massachusetts

On Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 I (Rob)  flew to New England to give a lecture about "How Pets Communicate from the Afterlife" in a new pet boutique called"In the Dog House."
Shawn, Gladys and Rob
There was a nice group of people attending and several people had their own experiences with their pets giving signs.
THREE  SHARED EXPERIENCES
One woman relayed a vivid dream in which she was in a neighborhood house and she heard the footsteps of her 2 cats who passed coming to the second floor where she was standing atop a stair. She said she awoke from sound!
Dreams are one way that spirits can give us messages.
After the talk, a man approached me and explained that he's a farmer, and he was feeling guilt. He explained that one of his cows had a stillbirth. He said he wondered if there was anythiing he could have done. The answer from spirit was "no."   Spirits make their decision to come to Earth even as stillborn children or animals. That was part of their spiritual journey.
A third person shared her experiences living in a haunted house.

Cool Discovery:Drought reveals remains of German ‘Atlantis’ in lake

We love history and archaeological finds and thought this latest one from Germany was interesting when ruins of a village was discovered.

Associated Press reported : A sustained drought in Germany has revealed the ruins of a village abandoned when a large reservoir was created more than 100 years ago.

German news agency dpa reported Sunday that a bridge and the foundations of Berich — known locally as the Atlantis of Lake Eder — have recently emerged from the waters in the central state of Hesse.

Germany’s third-biggest reservoir is being drained to keep water levels on the Weser river high enough for shipping.

Like many European countries, Germany has seen remarkably little rain in recent months.

The government is expected to decide whether to provide federal aid to farmers whose business has suffered from the drought. Eight German states have already reported drought-related damage amounting to 3 billion euros ($3.4 billion).

In this Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018 file photo the foundation walls of old buildings appear at the riverside of the Edersee in Waldeck, Germany due to a low water level because of a drought period. –The Associated Press

Update: Rob's Dislocated Thumb Surgery

Off with the old clunky cast!
It was the first week in August when I (Rob) had surgery to put my right thumb back into it's socket (using 2 titanium screws). It became dislocated (severely) and it couldn't be popped back in (they tried for about 5 hours in July in a hospital).   Now,  after 7 weeks of wearing a hard cast, I finally got rid of it and it was replaced with a smaller, hand cast. So there's good news times 2, but still an inconvenience for quite a while.

STATUS OF THE THUMB  -  The doc took X-rays and said that after 7 weeks, the bones are fusing fast, but it's not complete.
thumbs up before the 2nd cast

The whole idea is that the two bones are screwed together then fuse together and seal the joint in the lower thumb.

THE GOOD PART!  It's actually not an inconvenient thing, and there's a Benefit! The arthritis that hurt like Heck is gone as the joint fuses. So, I appreciate the bright side of it.

THE INCONVENIENT PART - The less bright side is that I need to continue wearing this hand brace until Mid-November...Ugh.

AN IMPROVEMENT - But, I can actually take this off only to shower, so that's much better than putting a plastic newspaper bag over a large hard cast every day.

The new cast is much smaller and easier to deal with
HOW IT HAPPENED - I lift weights using dumbbells, and I think that the weight was too heavy against my thumb and popped it out. Oh well! Nothing like getting injured while trying to get healthy! -At least the Arthritis in it will be GONE! Yay!

Idiot of the Week: Bicyclist Drives on to Opening Bridge; Almost Crushed

This week's idiot is a drunk woman on a bicycle who thinks for some reason, that she can ride over
an open bridge... here's the story and video!

MENASHA, Wisc. (WFLA) - Scary video out of Wisconsin shows a woman on a bicycle falling into an opening on a rising drawbridge.

The video, taken the night of July 4, shows the bicyclist squeezing between the lowered barrier arms of the bridge. She hits one and nearly falls off her bike but continues riding.

The woman then rides her bike right into an opening as the bridge continues to rise.

According to WBAY, it took about a minute before people nearby realized what happened and came to her rescue. Several people worked together to get her out.

The 37-year-old woman suffered facial injuries but thankfully did not fall into the water below.

Police tell our sister station WFRV they believe alcohol was a factor.

Jakarta, the fastest-sinking city in the world

If you think that mankind isn't affecting the environment, go visit Jakarta in Indonesia. Jakarta, is the fastest-sinking city in the world. Here's the story from BBC News.

Jakarta, the fastest-sinking city in the world
BBC News 8-14-18

The Indonesian capital of Jakarta is home to 10 million people but it is also one of the fastest-sinking cities in the world. If this goes unchecked, parts of the megacity could be entirely submerged by 2050, say researchers. Is it too late?

It sits on swampy land, the Java Sea lapping against it, and 13 rivers running through it. So it shouldn't be a surprise that flooding is frequent in Jakarta and, according to experts, it is getting worse. But it's not just about freak floods, this massive city is literally disappearing into the ground.

"The potential for Jakarta to be submerged isn't a laughing matter," says Heri Andreas, who has studied Jakarta's land subsidence for the past 20 years at the Bandung Institute of Technology.

"If we look at our models, by 2050 about 95% of North Jakarta will be submerged."

It's already happening - North Jakarta has sunk 2.5m in 10 years and is continuing to sink by as much as 25cm a year in some parts, which is more than double the global average for coastal megacities.

Jakarta is sinking by an average of 1-15cm a year and almost half the city now sits below sea level.

VIDEO:
https://youtu.be/J3UomZkVgAo

The impact is immediately apparent in North Jakarta.

In the district of Muara Baru, an entire office building lies abandoned. It once housed a fishing company but the first-floor veranda is the only functional part left. The submerged ground floor is full of stagnant floodwater. The land around it is higher so the water has nowhere to go. Buildings that are so deeply sunk are rarely abandoned like this, because most of the time the owners will try to fix, rebuild and find short-term remedies for the issue. But what they can't do is stop the soil sucking this part of the city down.

But the impact on the small homes right by the sea is magnified. Residents who once had a sea view now see only a dull grey dyke, built and rebuilt in a valiant attempt to keep seawater out.

"Every year the tide gets about 5cm higher," Mahardi, a fisherman, said.

The rest of Jakarta is also sinking, albeit at a slower rate. In West Jakarta, the ground is sinking by as much as 15cm annually, by 10cm annually in the east, 2cm in Central Jakarta and just 1cm in South Jakarta.

ON TAPE: Trump Jokes about Niger terrorists after 4 U.S. soldiers killed.

Trump said "They knew what signed up for."
ATTN Armed Service Men and Women ;  The president can be heard joking on tape about the
terrorists in Niger soon after 4 U.S. soldiers were killed.. Still want to support him and the Republicans who support him (98% of them)?
Anyone who is in the military and supports Republicans need to think again. They have NO respect for you, (or the FBI, CIA, or any Law Enforcement).
You've been persuaded into thinking they support you - they're only interested in military might, not the people making the sacrifices.

Trump Makes Light Of Terrorists Who Killed U.S. Soldiers In Omarosa Tape

A newly released audiotape shows President Donald Trump seeming to make light of the deaths of four U.S. soldiers who were killed Oct. 4, 2017, in an ambush in Niger.

The tape was recorded about two weeks later by former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman during a meeting the president had with his communications team about the ambush and the movement of terrorists.
Manigault Newman played the tape Monday for MSNBC host Craig Melvin and said the way the president makes light of the situation shows just how “unhinged and inappropriate” he is.
On the tape, the president explains that the attacks were carried out by terrorists from the Middle East who went into Africa “to try and, you know, cause problems there.”
Trump then said that the goal of most of the terrorists is to get back to the U.S., “because this is where they really want to be.”
“So it’s a rough, uh, business,” he said, then to laughter he added, “I wouldn’t, I don’t think I’d want to be a terrorist right now. [laughter] It’s not a good life, but it’s, uh, the only thing that — What else is there?”
Manigault Newman told Melvin she felt Trump’s comments were disrespectful of the soldier’s deaths, especially when he and his staffers laughed at the remarks.
“They were laughing because he’s, like, making light of the situation, he’s saying, ‘Well, I wouldn’t want to be a terrorist,’ she said, “But it’s not a laughing matter. We lost four American soldiers and four of our allies, the Nigerien troops that we were fighting alongside.”
Manigault Newman said the president’s cavalier attitude toward the soldiers in Niger is even more insulting in retrospect, considering the way he spoke with Myeshia Johnson, the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson, one of the soldiers killed in the attack.
“He couldn’t remember my husband’s name,” Myeshia Johnson told ABC’s “Good Morning America.” “I heard him stumbling on trying to remember my husband’s name.”
The president also told Johnson that her husband “knew what he signed up for.”
Johnson added: “And it made me cry because I was very angry at the tone in his voice and how he said it.”

According to a report commissioned by The Guardian newspaper, about 200 heavily armed militants attacked U.S. and Nigerien forces on Oct. 4, 2017,  in the village of Tongo Tongo. Witnesses described hearing gunfire for six hours without any reinforcements showing up, despite the village chief’s repeated calls for help to Nigerien authorities.

“Everything that happened could have been prevented if help had arrived sooner,” Karimou Yacouba, a local member of parliament, told The Guardian.

This tape isn’t the only one released Monday by Manigault Newman, formerly the director of communications for the White House Office of Public Liaison and a former contestant on Trump’s reality show “The Apprentice.”

She also played a recording on “The View” in which Trump could be heard ranting that his presidential rival Hillary Clinton is “getting killed now with Russia” and that the “real Russia story is Hillary and collusion.”

Tom's Mom's Surprise 80th Birthday Party Part 1

Mom Ruth and her birthday cake!
On Saturday, Sept. 15th we helped give Tom's mom a surprise 80th birthday party at the social center in the over 55 complex where she and her husband Bob (tom's step dad) live. There was months of planning that went into the 3 hour event.
PARTY PLANNERS
Bob and Tom's sister Lisa arranged for the rental of a room, and worked the invitations. Lisa also got in touch with some family members in other states while Bob worked invitations to local friends.
Mom and Bob
Tom planned catering through Mission BBQ (which was fantastic) and the entertainment of a Tarot Reader!  He also made a special music channel on Pandora Radio that played his mom's favorite songs - like Elvis tunes.

OTHER STUFF-  Tom worked with a florist to get 6 table flower arrangements. He ordered small jars and special labels he affixed that said "Ruth's 80th birthday," and put ribbons on all of them.
Getting lunch
The jars were filled with homemade cookies from our friend Jeff Feldhaus a pastry chef!
Tom, Mom and Lisa
SLIDE SHOW -  Tom and I worked together on a powerpoint presentation featuring about 50 photos of his mom through time. We used our computer and borrowed a projector from our friend Margaret and displayed them on the wall of the room.

Table of friends
CAKE AND DESSERT -   Early in the planning we asked our friend Jeff Feldhaus a pastry chef to make the huge sheet cake for 24 people, and he made various other treats. He made sugar and chocolate cookies in each jar (that everyone got to take home). He also made raspberry and lemon bars,  small brownies and butterscotch bars!
The cake had two layers of raspberry filling and was perfectly decorated and DELICIOUS!

MASTER OF CEREMONIES- I (Rob) have no shame, so despite a headcold I volunteered to get everyone to sing Happy Birthday, and announced lunch and dessert.

Tom's Sister Lisa and 2 friends
The entire event was great and everyone seemed to enjoy it.  It was a great day!
