Book of the Week: Royal Love by Josie Naclerio

If you enjoy police thrillers with romance, "Royal Love" by my friend Josie Naclerio is a fantastic story. That's today's book of the week.

We've been good friends for many years and have always helped each other out with our books. She has several series of books, one being about the Carabineri (Italian police) called "The Italy Protectors" series (and they all have HOT covers). - It does help to read them in order because she introduces the characters in later books.

Another called the "Hockey series" and another about the Canadian Mounties.  (You can read summaries of 2 of the series below)

Josie has a unique style of writing, where she tries to "put you in the moment." She's also one of the most amazing storytellers. She creates her characters and gives them backstories, family ties, friends that become the key character in their own books in each series, and takes you to locations around the world (although the Italy series mostly happens in Italy, there are adventures that take you elsewhere).

When I was reading it I was anxious to get to the end to find out how it was resolved with the criminal characters. I didn't expect some of the big things that happened to Nico, the main character who is a Carabineri (Italian police) officer, and it will surprise you, too.

The romance aspect of it was also intriguing, bringing a love interest who was royalty. In the beginning, you would never expect things to come together. Josie weaves an interesting story with a lot of great charcters and a LOT of police action. Because I'm a gay guy,  I can only say about the romance parts they are steamy, although I wish it were about two guys. :)  Seriously, though, this is a GREAT read!

ABOUT ITALY'S PROTECTOR SERIESThe Italy's Protector's Series, formerly The Carabinieri Series, by Josie Naclerio are set in stunning Italian locations, from Pompeii, Florence, Rome, Naples, and other areas. The series follows the lives of Italian Carabinieri, and other Italian polizia dedicated to protecting their country, cities, towns, and balancing the search for love.

From ancient ruins, past ghosts, family secrets, fighting crime, and escaping destiny and the ever present evil and its intent on wreaking havoc in their lives and those they love.

ABOUT THE HOCKEY SERIES - The hockey series follows the players of the Boston hockey team and their search for romance while striving to win hockey's ultimate prize. Past ghosts spring up in their attempts to foil each's pursuit of love and winning The Cup.

"Carabinieri Love": Another Great Novel by Josie Naclerio

I just finished enjoying Josie Naclerio's novel "Carabinieri Love," the third in the Carabineri (Italian military police) romance series. This is  another well-crafted novel with engaging characters that you want to come together. Just like the first 2 books in the series, this would make a great movie.

Like books 1 and 2, "Love in the Ruins," and "Italian Love," the central character is officer in the Carabinieri. A Carabinieri, for those of us who are unfamiliar with the word, are the national gendarmerie of Italy who primarily carry out domestic policing duties. It is one of Italy's main law enforcement agencies, alongside the Polizia di Stato and the Guardia di Finanza.

The officer, Riccardo Mariani, was born into a family that operated one of Italy's biggest movie studios, but he walked away as a teenager. The novel contains dark secrets, twists, turns and a lot of unexpected things, including a twisted adversary.

Riccardo's love interest is Sophia, Italy's foremost actress. There's love, anger, disappointment, romance and a story that will keep you wanting to read to the end! The other thing that I enjoyed about this novel, is that it builds on all of the characters the author introduced in her first two novels in the series, so you know what's happened with them.  Another great Carabinieri novel from Josie Naclerio!

I recommend read them all, and it does help to read them in order so you see how the characters interact and build over time. Five of five stars.

A Fantastic Novel of Police Action and Romance: Italian Love by Josie Naclerio

My friend Josie Naclerio recently published her third book in a series of romance/police action novels called the Carabineri Series (Italian military police). I read and reviewed the first one called "Love in the Ruins"  and it was awesome. It kept my attention, and I really felt as if I knew the characters. Like that book, book 2 in the series, called "Italian Love" is equally as enthralling and builds off two of the characters from the first book.
So, here's how I summarize this book:Secrets, Steamy Seduction, Kidnapping and Police Action

In book 2 of the Carabineri Series, Federico, a handsome military policeman in Italy's Carabineri force longs for love, although still coping with witnessing a horrific murder. When he learns about Abbey Capelli there is an instant fascination and it's mutual. However, an attractive Greek businessman is also vying for Abbey's love and seems ready to do anything to get it. In this story of secrets, steamy seduction, romance, kidnapping and police action, the author takes you into a world where a man must truly fight for love.
***ANYONE who likes POLICE ACTION or ROMANCES should read these. I told her that BOTH of these books need to be made into films. Really!

Book Review: Love in Ruins, by Josie Naclerio: A Police drama, passionate romance with an exotic Italian setting.

Here's my official review on "LOVE IN RUINS" by Josie Naclerio. I don't normally read romances, but this one was much, much, much more that that. It's a 5 of 5 Star Novel: A Police drama, passionate romance with an exotic Italian setting. This has all the makings of a great movie!

This breakthrough novel has everything. It has engaging characters that you grow to care about. It has police drama, sizzling romance, and all in the mysterious setting of Pompeii, Italy.

This is a police drama with a passionate romance that brings together the lead characters, Gian, an Italian military police officer with a past the resurfaces to haunt him, and Rebecca, an American archaeologist from Texas who is working in Pompeii. Fate brings them together, and a ghost from Gian's past may tear them apart.

As I read this, I thought this would make a fantastic movie. The writer paints a clear picture of the settings, characters, and their feelings. There's also the aspects of family dynamics the author covers brilliantly, bringing in the main characters' two families. I found this to be a page turner, and it kept me on edge, wondering when and how the "ghost" from Gian's past would catch up to him.

Truly, this author has a great future. She knows how to tell a story, make characters come alive, and keep the reader interested.
