DC Area Weimanarer Rescue: Available Weimaraners for Adoption as of 3/20/17

DC Area Weimaraner Rescue is located in Northern Virginia, and has quite a number of Weimaraners who are looking for a forever home. Weims are smart and high energy dogs. The rescue vets them, gets them updated on shots, and spays and neuters before adoptions.
If you're considering a Weimaraner please check out some of these great dogs here, and the link at the bottom to even MORE Weimaraners.
If you just want to help the rescue, they need donations to pay all of the vet bills for the dogs they rescue (because most of them come in needing shots, spay/neuter or other health issues).

Available Weimaraners for Adoption
Adoption Fee(s): Adoption fees pay for the spay/neutering and general medical care for each Weimaraner who comes into our rescue.

Steel
Adult Weims for Adoption

Steel is a 3 year old neutered male.  He has a tail!  Steel is good with other dogs and big kids.  He knows some commands and is pretty good on a leash.  He is also crate and house trained.
Steel is shy when he first meets you.  He would do best in a home with a fenced yard and without too many visitors.  Once he gets to know you he is a very sweet boy!

Charlie

Charlie is a spunky, young 11 year old.  He is good with other dogs and is crate and house trained.  He loves to be outside with you!  He will do "weim like things", such as get into the trash can, but that is what keeps us on our toes!  He needs some work on a leash, but is happy to please.  Charlie is no cats!

Gabby
Gabby is a 6 year old spayed female.  She is good with other dogs, kids and cats.  Gabby is crate and housetrained and is pretty high energy for being overweight.  She is on a diet and exercise plan.  Gabby knows some commands and hasn't met anyone she didn't like!

Ellie
Ellie is a 3 year old spayed female.  She is high energy and is good with other dogs and bigger kids.  Ellie is crate and house trained and is currently working on being a running buddy to get some of that energy under control.  She would do best with no cats.

MetroMax is a nice 3 year old neutered male.  He is house and crate trained and a very
Metro Max!
loving guy.  He is good with other dogs.  MetroMax has Retinal Atrophy and can see large things, movement and some colors.  He has learned his environment quickly and would do best with another dog to follow!
Konrad is an 8 year old male.  He is good with other dogs and kids.  He has not been around cats.

Spike

Spike is a 6 year old male.  He is house trained and should be good in a crate.  He is good with other dogs.  Spike is on his way here and we will know more about him once he arrives.  He will be neutered before placement.

Nikki is a 7 year old spayed female.  She is a big girl
Nikki
and is good with other dogs and kids.  Nikki is house and crate trained and is a very nice girl.

Konrad
Konrad is crate and house trained and has pretty good manners and commands.  He will be neutered before placement.

A Successful Weimaraner Rescue Event!

Cooper (Left) and Ellie (right)
On Sunday, March 19, we helped with the coordination of an event for the DC Area Weimaraner Rescue
Justin Ledger talks with folks
at the Gambrills, Maryland Pet Valu store. The manager of the store gave Justin our contact info, as we've done both Dachshund and Weimaraner rescue events at his store before.
It turned out to be a wonderful event thanks to two Weimararner foster moms and Justin Ledger, a local realtor (who actually raises Boxers) who put it all together for the store. He donated 2 big baskets of toys and treats, a large dog bed, and bag of food for people who entered his free raffle. Justin's facebook  page is: https://www.facebook.com/justinledgerrealtor/.
Cooper, Ellie and their foster moms

Ellie and Cooper's Foster moms brought them to the event and both came quite a distance (over 1 and 2 hours!), but that's what dog rescue people do!  Ellie's mom from Northern Virginia, and Cooper's mom from the Maryland/Delaware line.   Both stayed for the duration of the event. There was also a Weim member who brought her agility winning dog  to the event and spent time there.

Folks stopped by to meet Ellie and Cooper
We were able to put up the big banner on one of Justin's tables as people came right in the front door so they saw it first. On that table we put the jar, the rescue info handout  and the list and description of all of the adoptable Weims.

Two families expressed heavy interest in Ellie, and one woman  came back TWICE with middle aged parents, and their other dog to see if their dog and Ellie meshed well (they did).

For an event that just came together, I'd say it was pretty successful over the 4 hour period!
