The Salmon Falls river separates Eastern New Hampshire from Western Maine. The Salmon Falls River runs alongside the Counting House Museum in South Berwick, Maine. That's where the waterfall is located. The Counting House is a historic building that was once the office space for a cotton textile mill. On March 8th, 2025, we parked in the visitor lot and roll the window down a little bit to enjoy the comforting Roar of the waterfall. It is also a hydro electric dam that generates electricity. The park is a scenic place overlooking the river and the falls near the interstate bridge on Rt. 4.

SOME HISTORY - The area has quite a long history. According to Maurene K. on Trip Advisor, "The Wabanakis (Native Americans who first lived in this area) called it Quamphegan. “Quamp” means scoop or dip and “hegan” means net. It was the place to dip the net. In other words, it was their place to fish with nets in the relatively shallow waters there."
