I always like to end my travels on a good note, so after Alex and I toured historic downtown Fort Worth, we found a Nestles Toll House Cookie restaurant. I also learned that my hero, Wyatt Earp has a star of fame in Ft. Worth.
It’s the Nestle Toll House in Sundance Square. It’s located at 124 East 4th Street. They only really sold cookies and beverages, but that was perfect. After walking around for a couple of hours and taking in the history of the city, sugar was much in need. When you visit Fort Worth, be sure to stop there. The cookies are well-worth the stop!
WYATT EARP’S STAR OF FAME – One place we didn’t get to
visit was the stockyards in Fort Worth. I later learned that’s where Wyatt Earp
is honored with a star on the Texas Trail of Fame. His star is located in the front of the Texas
Cowboy Hall of Fame.
WHAT IS THE
TEXAS TRAIL OF FAME? The Texas Trail of Fame was established in 1997 to honor those who
have made a significant contribution to our western way of life. Throughout the
walkways of the Fort Worth National Historic District, bronze inlaid markers
were placed in honor of their achievements.
WYATT’S BIO IN THE HALL OF FAME – The hall of fame has an on-line presence, and includes the following bio for Wyatt: Wyatt Earp was a farmer, lawman, gunfighter, politician, gambler, saloon keeper, sports enthusiast and rancher. But it was as a lawman that he gained his greatest fame. Credited with cleaning up Dodge City, Kansas, he eventually settled into what he hoped would be a peaceful life in Tombstone, Arizona. Once there, Wyatt, along with his brothers Virgil and Morgan, who held various law enforcement positions (his brother James was there, too) clashed with a gang of outlaw cowboys who threatened to kill the Earp brothers. The conflict came to a head on Oct. 26, 1881 during the gunfight near the O.K.Corral.
