The Godfrey Hotel brings a modern touch to two classic Downtown Crossing buildings.
If you’re looking to plan a staycation,
you just got one more option. The restored Amory and Blake buildings are
home to the new 242-room luxury Godfrey Hotel,
which opened its doors to the public for the first time on Wednesday.
It’s the second Godfrey location—the original debuted in Chicago in
2014.
Boston rolled out the red carpet for the
opening: Mayor Marty Walsh gave a speech at the ribbon cutting ceremony
Wednesday morning, along with Greater Boston Convention and Visitors
Bureau President and CEO Patrick Moscaritolo, and Boston BID President
and CEO Rosemarie Sansone.

In addition to supporting the heads of
those who sleep on its pillows, the Godfrey, owned by Oxford Hotels and
Resorts, is also supporting local community organizations. The hotel
donated $25,000 to The Wang YMCA of Chinatown, Boston Asian: Y.E.S.,
Kwong Kow Chinese School Afterschool Program, and Asian American Civic
Association Work Force Development.
The party continued Wednesday night, when the new spot hosted guests for drinks and food, provided by the hot new restaurant Yvonne’s,
which is just around the corner from the Godfrey. The party also
featured a live DJ set, and offered guests a sneak preview of the new
George Howell Coffee café that will open in the hotel later this spring.
