Fun Mystery: The Chihuahua Always Sniffs Twice (Barking Detective Mysteries Book 4)

I read a lot of mysteries, and as I've noted on this blog before The Barking Detective mystery series is truly one of my favorites. I recently finished "The Chihuahua Always Sniffs Twice" by Waverly Curtis and it's another 5 out of 5 star, fun novel. It features Geri Sullivan, a private investigator and her Chihuahua named Pepe. The thing is that Pepe can talk in English, but only Geri hears him. He also  helps her solve every case. It's like Scooby Doo!
This novel was just as great as the other 4 in the series (I have already read the 5th). It's fun, light-hearted and a page turner. It's about a family of step-kids who are angry that their step mother left her fortune to 5 cocker spaniels. ... and they all want to prove she's insane (after she died).
The last Pepe novel (www.pepnovels.com) came out in 2015 and I can't wait for another one. I love Pepe and Geri. I really hope the authors are writing a 6th book! - Rob

You can buy it on Amazon.com here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KFP7YK4/ref=rdr_kindle_ext_tmb

ABOUT THIS BOOK: Aspiring P.I. Geri Sullivan's new case has got her talking Chihuahua, Pepe, hot under the collar. Wealthy widow Lucille Carpenter left her entire fortune to her beloved dogs, and someone is trying to poison them. Anyone who would hurt a perro is lower than a cucaracha in Pepe's book. But when Geri and Pepe investigate, they discover that it's not just the coddled canines who are in danger. Now there are human targets too.
At the lavish Carpenter manor, Pepe digs for clues among the pampered pooches, bitter relatives, suspicious staff, and larcenous lawyers. But there's only one diminutive detective smart enough to save the day--and the dogs.

Another Fun Barking Detective Mystery! The Big Chihuahua by Waverly Curtis

I just finished reading and enjoying the 3rd in the "Barking Detective Mystery" series with Pepe the talking chihuahua called  The Big Chihuahua by Waverly Curtis.
This is the third book I've read in the series and it is absolutely my favorite mystery series involving a dog. Pepe is a talking Chihuahua who has a fun personality, and seems to have lived so many adventures before his mom, Geri Sullivan adopted him.
This time, they're investigating a dog-related cult called "Dogawanda" that includes a Weimaraner (like ours) and a murder mystery.  The characters, including Geri's P.I. "boss" Jimmy G who always talks in third person, and her boyfriend Felix are great supporting characters.
I can't wait to read the next in the series!
BTW- You can follow the authors on their website devoted to Pepe at: http://www.thepepenovels.com/
-Rob

ABOUT THE BOOK: "In matters of courage, there is no bigger dog than me!"
P.I. Geri Sullivan and her talking Chihuahua, Pepe, are always hungry to sink their teeth into a new case. So if helping a hapless husband win back his wayward wife means sneaking into a cult of dog-worshippers, porque no?
Inside the believers' rural retreat, Pepe perks up his ears when the charismatic leader pegs him as the next incarnation of the spirit Dogawanda. But the discovery of a body, murdered between mantras, suggests there's more chicanery than channeling going on in this suspicious sect. While wild wolves howl, a killer is on the prowl--and it's up to Geri and her canine compadre to dig up the dirt.

A New Favorite Mystery: Chihuahua Confidential by Waverly Curtis

I (Rob) love mysteries, and love dogs. As I kid I loved Scooby Doo, so when you combine all three
of those elements in one mystery series with great characters, I'm hooked. "Chihuahua Confidential" by Waverly Curtis is a "Barking Detective Mystery" starring Geri (a PI in training) and her Chihuahua, Pepe, who she can actually understand (in English). Together they solve murder mysteries and this  was the second book in the series I enjoyed.
In fact, I loved it so much, that I would have to say it's one of my all time favorite mysteries ever. That's saying a lot!  I cannot recommend this book enough. I LOVE the characterization of little Pepe and his pet parent Geri as they work together to solve mysteries. In this book they are contestants in a "Dancing with Dogs" TV show. I couldn't put it down. Bravo to the author team!  I can't wait to read the next in the series.
   - Rob
Here is the summary of the book:
When novice P.I. Geri Sullivan first heard her adopted Chihuahua talk, she thought she'd gone barking mad. But it turns out Pepe is a savvy sleuth--and if he has his way, he'll soon be a bone-a-fido celebrity, too, as Pepe and Geri are Hollywood-bound to star in the reality show Dancing With Dogs. So far, so bueno.

Then Nigel St. Nigel, the judge everyone loves to hate, becomes the judge someone wanted dead. Pepe and Geri are hot on a killer's heels but between perfecting the paso doble and protecting Pepe's Pomeranian lady love, both have their paws full. If Pepe's new status as a Beverly Hills Chihuahua goes to his head, it may be the last waltz for Geri's crime-biting compadre. .

A fun dog mystery: The Silence of the Chihuahuas (A Barking Detective Mystery)

Looking for a creative mystery that involves a dog? I (Rob) just finished reading a great one, with a young female private eye and a Chihuahua named Pepe that helps her solve mysteries. The catch: He talks in English with a spanish-tinge and she understands him. It's really funny. It's well-written, the characters are interesting, and the book is really entertaining. I couldn't put it down, and I'm looking forward to reading the rest in the series.
The book in the series that I read is called The Silence of the Chihuahuas (A Barking Detective Mystery) by Waverly Curtis. I've already ordered the others.

BOOK SUMMARY:
Pepe, aspiring P.I. Geri Sullivan’s muy clever Chihuahua, has stopped talking. But why now, with Geri’s best friend Brad missing and her ditzy sister in grave danger? Geri’s lost without Pepe’s dogged detective work, especially when a client of Brad’s expires under very murky circumstances.
Luckily, Pepe turns out to be an excelente blogger, and his nose for clues soon has the detective duo chasing down leads. But they’ll have to put a bite on crime quickly, because danger’s afoot – and it’s making tracks in their direction . . .
