Enjoyable Graphic Novel; Sherlock Holmes: The Vanishing Man /Dynamite comics

I love Sherlock Holmes stories and have two volumes of stories from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Recently, I discovered a comic book series called "Sherlock Holmes: The Vanishing Man" by Dynamite Comics. I read the first issue and I was hooked, so I bought the graphic novel that contained the entire storyline and it was wonderful.

AN ODD FINDING - It turns out that this comic book series came out in 2018, and one of the comic book store employees accidentally put on the shelf of "new releases." I didn't check the date inside (it's also in very small print on the bottom of the first page) but it didn't matter when it came out. I love the character and Dr. John Watson, and this was a New story (Not one of Arthur Conan Doyle's stories). 

ABOUT THE BOOK - Michael Williams is a family man. A reliable man at both work and home. When he disappears, there are no clues left behind. Now, it is up to Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson to find out what happened to him and what danger may be lurking around every corner, in the case of The Vanishing Man! Softcover, 104 pages, full color. 

MY REVIEW - There's a good mystery here that I didn't see coming, and there's also an appearance of Professor Moriarity, Holmes' nemesis. The graphic novel is written by Leah Moore and John Reppion and illustrated by Julius Ohta. The story was very good, and the illustrations were amazing. I love how the artist depicts Sherlock Holmes and Watson. 

BOTTOM LINE - Definitely worth reading, especially if you're a Sherlock Holmes fan!

Enjoyable Book: Sherlock Holmes and the Army of Dr. Moreau

I (Rob) recently finished an Enjoyable Book: Sherlock Holmes and the Army of Dr. Moreau by Guy Adams. It brought

together these two classic characters from different authors for a great new Sherlock Holmes story. I've always been a fan of Sherlock Holmes and H.G. Wells' classic "The Island of Dr. Moreau." The author does a great job capturing the essence of Holmes and Watson, and ties them in nicely to the Dr. Moreau legacy. Well-worth the read!- Rob


BOOK SUMMARY: Following the trail of several corpses seemingly killed by wild animals, Holmes and Watson stumble upon the experiments of Doctor Moreau.
   Moreau, through vivisection and crude genetic engineering is creating animal hybrids, determined to prove the evolutionary theories of Charles Darwin. In his laboratory, hidden among the opium dens of Rotherhithe, Moreau is building an army of 'beast men'. Tired of having his work ignored -- or reviled -- by the British scientific community, Moreau is willing to make the world pay attention using his creatures as a force to gain control of the government.

My 1975 Comic Book to be Displayed at Sherlock Holmes Museum, U.K.!

The comic to be displayed in London!

While I (Rob) was going through my extensive comic book collection (I've been collecting since the mid-1970s) I came across DC Comics' Sherlock Holmes #1 from 1975. Instead of selling it, I decided to try and make more of a mark with it, because we were so impressed by London's Sherlock Holmes Museum. 
  So, I wrote to the curator, explained about the comic, and offered to send it there for display. After all, it is 38 (almost 39) years old. It was graciously accepted and will be put on display there!  We are so excited!

 Here's my email and the response. 
   Dear Ms. van Ehernstein - As a U.S. fan of Sherlock Holmes, I had the good fortune to visit the museum during my first visit to the U.K. in 2012, and really enjoyed it!   I am writing because I wanted to offer the museum a collectable Sherlock Holmes #1 DC Comics comic book that I've had in my collection since 1975! It's over 38 years old, and I thought the museum would appreciate the copy to possibly display (pictured below).
   I've been collecting comics since I was a child in the 1960s, and this is one of the oldest Sherlock Holmes series that I recall, and it's from the U.S., which makes it more unique. (I know that a lot more have cropped up since this came out).
  If the museum would like it, I would be happy to send it your way (free of charge of course). I would rather it go to the museum, than sell it as I really loved my visit.
