Planning a Vacation? Visit one of the Haunted Places Author Rob Gutro visited - and read about the ghosts you'll meet there in his series: GHOSTS ON A MEDIUM'S VACATION

1) Ghosts of Ireland on a Medium’s Vacation (JUST RELEASED Feb 24th, 2024!)

Imprisoned in a jail beyond life. Dying in battle. Accidental deaths, fires, and more. Meet the ghosts in the book "Ghosts of Ireland: On a Medium's Vacation.” The book provides a brief history of the places where Rob encountered a ghost or ghosts. The book will take you to haunted places including churches, castles, a jail, and unexpected ghosts in an art gallery and shopping mall and more. Readers can use this book as a guide for touring Ireland and learning, history, mystery and finding ghosts, even in some unexpected places!

2) Ghosts of the Bird Cage Theatre on a Medium’s Vacation
Shot against a wall! Shot in the throat! Some resident ghosts shared their pain of violent deaths. Others revealed their lives as actors, drinkers, gamblers, prostitutes, and gunfighters to medium and paranormal investigator Rob Gutro when he joined the museum’s ghost tour. He and his friend photographed faces of 2 ghosts in a painting and a mirror. Rob also sketched some ghosts he encountered. The Bird Cage Theatre is a very haunted and historic landmark in Tombstone, Arizona. It was a big part of the wild days of the old west in the United States. Because of the raw emotional events that occurred there, a number of people have chosen to stay behind as earth-bound ghosts.

3) Ghosts of England on a Medium's Vacation
Take a walk through the history of England and meet the many ghosts Rob encountered during two visits to England that may inspire a visit: *A ghostly screaming queen! *A prince's ghost who haunted Rob's room *A ghostly nobleman who acted as castle tour guide *Several ghosts shared their deathly pain *Friend's spirit sent his look-alike to help *Meet several famous historic ghosts, explore royal palaces, churches, structures, and cities. Come on this personal journey and meet some of the ghosts of England!

THE BOUND TRILOGY: Familiar scenes of brutality and corruption; fear and coercion, they were filtering their way into every part of daily life, slowly corroding the fragile balance between Bonders and humans. Like a cancer in every cell of our social and cultural autonomy, the rise of the Vampires, their monolithic need for revenge and control, threatened to destroy the collective body from the inside out. A sickness that makes you question your very presence on the earth and makes you wonder if letting go, if not holding on, if that’s the better choice...

JANE WAKELY: paranormal romance writer whom I met earlier this year at the Frederick Book Festival. Jane has been creating stories of love and romance for as long as she can remember. She's a sucker for a happy ending and thinks the best thing about any movie or book is when the characters find someone to love. Jane's stories reflect her interest in all romance genres, and all levels of spice, but paranormal romance is her true passion. She loves creating worlds around sexy shifters and vamps--even if the shifter is a smelly skunk!  Jane writes sensual romance that will warm your heart, and a happy ever after is guaranteed!

OH YEAH… and me: Rob Gutro:  "Ghosts and Spirits: Insights from a Medium" and "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead
I'm a member of Inspired Ghost Tracking who use scientific equipment to find proof of
ghosts or spirits. Since I was a child I could receive messages from ghosts or spirits (who have crossed over). I wrote "Ghosts and Spirits" and "Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead" to teach others how Ghosts and Spirits communicate and to give hope about the afterlife. I also provide some scientific explanations about how they do it. I'm not a medium who makes appointments - I'm not as well-developed in my abilities as learned mediums. I'm more of a "medium rare." I just hope you find comfort in these explanations based on my experiences.
Our loved ones are missed most around the holidays, and one way to take comfort is to understand that they're still around. - My books have provided a comfort by explaining how spirits make themselves known.
BOTH BOOKS AVAILABLE ON AMAZON:
Ghosts and Spirits: Insights from a Medium for $7.25 paper/$2.99 E-book and Lessons Learned from Talking to the Dead for $8.99 paperback and $2.99 E-book on AMAZON: http://tinyurl.com/q3bhgde

SCOTT LOPE'S  story in WOLVERINE (comics)
Recently, our friend Scott Lope had the amazing opportunity to co-write a comic book about Marvel's Wolverine character from the X-men series.  The story appears in December's "Savage Wolverine #12" on sale now AND NEXT MONTH'S "Savage Wolverine #13"   The Wolverine story addresses the serious issue of Rhino poaching in Africa and how countless Rhinos are slaughtered for their horns. This is one of the issues that Scott personally tries to stop through his organization.  The story is gripping and well-written and the artwork is fantastic.
Scott is the founder of the Non-Profit Organization called Animal Warriors. Animal Warriors is a group of like minded individuals from all walks of life who share a common goal of helping animals with active volunteer groups in both Florida and North Carolina. RANDY KELLER -Voices From Forever
Voices From Forever chronicles my journey through the paranormal by way of Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP). What started out as an experiment, proved to be the most eye-opening and profound experience of my life. There is no longer any doubt that beyond this existence is a greater continuation; an equally dynamic and vital place where the passion of human emotion and the animism of the universe converge to reveal a glimpse of what is to come. My attempts to make contact through EVP taught me just how thin the veil is between what we know as living, and the afterlife that claims us all. Death is not the end of being alive, but the beginning of our next step – one that we must all take. Check it out!: http://tinyurl.com/mvkeula

A Special Holiday Tree for Sprite!

Sprite's Holiday Tree with Butterfly
Because our 16 1/2 year old dachshund passed away this past summer we wanted to do something special to remember him this holiday season. Sprite was a funny little guy, who liked to keep to himself and didn't play with toys (he came to us from the rescue just before he turned 14 and wound up have several surgeries and 22 rotted teeth removed). Sprite loved Dolly and Franklin (and was learning to deal with Tyler the terror). He loved his grandma and grandpa (Tom's parents) and stayed there on some weekends.
Our favorite photo of Sprite
So, this weekend, we bought a small counter-top-Sprite-Sized tree and decorations. Tom surprised me when he topped the tree with a butterfly. Why? Because after Sprite passed we saw yellow and black butterflies following us and our other dogs around. Even friends who read about Sprite's story were followed around or visited by yellow and black butterflies - so that's his sign.
Every day I look at Sprite's tree this season I know he's around us.

Happy Independence Day- Nature's Fireworks

Sprite and Dolly
Happy July 4th! We hope you're enjoying the holiday weekend.
Our thanks to all who have fought for this country.
-Nature has provided fireworks this weekend in the form of strong to severe thunderstorms.
Last night a couple of severe thunderstorms rolled through with lots of cloud to ground lightning
striking close by. Lightning struck the roof of a house just 2 miles away from us. According to Patch.com for our town, "it took 35 firefighters 20 minutes to contain."
We all hunkered down for a good hour as the strongest storms rolled through.
Sprite, Dolly and Franklin take up our bed!
SOME SAFETY TIPS: *Unplug the computer and television. *Stay off the land line phones *Don't shower or use water from the tap *Stay away from windows (after closing them all).
Here are some pictures of how the dogs hunkered down... and a video of the kids later with their "dinosaur chews" and a befuddled Sprite.

A fun Easter Day

The weather warmed to 82F on Easter and we hosted dinner at our house for Tom's parents and our friends Jeff, Jose and their dog Daisy. We enjoyed ham, chicken, and lots of side dishes, desserts, etc. Here are some pictures from the day.

July 4th and 5th Cook-Ins

On July 4th it was about 100 degrees Fahrenheit (A local bank thermometer at 4pm said it was 104F). It was too hot to eat or cook outside (besides, we don't have a grill), so Rob cooked homemade spaghetti sauce with all the fixins, and Tom's parents came over for a nice dinner. Around 9pm when it was getting dark we heard all the fireworks going off in locations around our house and we walked the dogs. They're not afraid of fireworks, and walking them outside as they were booming made them less afraid.

JULY 5th- Again at 100F! It's too hot to do much during this heatwave, so we got up early and walked the dogs, went to the gym for an hour and did home projects. In the afternoon our friends Susan and Cary invited us over for a cook-in, which was fun! Here are some photos from the fun afternoon, with Cary, Susan and Ed (and Cary and Susan's 3 dogs); and all of us together).

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day.
St. Patrick's Day is celebrated by the Irish and Irish at Heart in big cities and small towns alike with parades, "wearing of the green," music and songs, Irish food and drink, and activities for kids and more. We've read that some communities even go so far as to dye rivers or streams green! (That's just wrong).
I, Ro,b heard today on the Boston radio station WBZ-AM 1030 (it's a clear channel station meaning we can hear it in Washington, DC at night) that people in the Irish-laden area of South Boston, Mass. were standing outside of Irish Pubs at 6 a.m. for their opening at 8 a.m. to take the day off and start drinking their green beer. UM... I think that's a little extreme (and I AM Irish).
Anyway, for all of those who were into it, there's even a website devoted to events around the U.S. and Canada!! WOW. Who would've thought it was that big of an event? The website is: http://www.st-patricks-day.com/.
Neither Tom nor I were wearing any green, unless you count Tom's complexion after eating corned beef that someone brought into his office (and he said it was Nasty!).

Who I am

I'm a simple guy who enjoys the simple things in life, especially our dogs. I volunteer for dog rescues, enjoy exercising, blogging, politics, helping friends and neighbors, participating in ghost investigations, coffee, weather, superheroes, comic books, mystery novels, traveling, 70s and 80s music, classic country music, writing books on ghosts and spirits, cooking simply and keeping in shape. You'll find tidbits of all of these things on this blog and more. EMAIL me at Rgutro@gmail.com - Rob
