Idiot of the Week: Woman Assaulted mother and daughter for speaking Spanish

The bigots and idiots continue to feel empowered from 4 years of it, and even in Boston, my hometown, and one of the most liberal-leaning, most accepting states, the Bigots still come out. That's what happened when a white woman decided to assault 2 women who were speaking Spanish to each other on a sidewalk (and it had nothing to do with the bigot). Here's the story from the Boston Globe:

A woman accused of assaulting a mother and daughter for speaking Spanish on a Boston street was sentenced Thursday to two years probation.

Stephanie Armstrong was found guilty on charges of assault and battery, but not of civil rights violations, NBC 10 reported.

Earlier this year, civil rights organizations publicly decried what they said was an overly lenient sentence given to another woman accused of assaulting the mother and her teenage daughter. That woman, Jenny Leigh Ennamorati, struck a plea deal in February for 15 months probation. Prosecutors first sought two years probation, The Boston Globe reported.

Armstrong, the other woman charged with assault, took the case to trial.

The incident occurred on Feb. 15, 2020, when Sara Vasquez and her then 15-year-old daughter were walking in Maverick Square in East Boston. Vasquez testified this week that the two were heading home after a birthday dinner and were chatting in Spanish, CBS Boston reported. Two white women began following them and yelling phrases like “Go back to your country,” and “this country speaks English.”

The confrontation then turned physical. Vasquez testified that Armstrong and Ennamorati started hitting her and pulling her hair, resulting in injuries to her neck, face, and hand.

The incident was captured on surveillance video, which shows one woman rushing across the street to hit Vasquez, who then punches back.

Armstrong faced four charges for assault and civil rights violations.

After Armstrong’s sentencing, Vasquez said she was “disappointed, because they have been working on this for two years and I think it ended in nothing,” according to NBC 10.

Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden also voiced his opinion on the trial’s result. “I find it terribly disappointing that she wasn’t also convicted of violating their civil rights. This unforgivable assault exposed an ugly side of our society that my office—and I hope every caring citizen—will never tolerate,” he wrote in a statement.

Armstrong’s attorney said that Ennamorati was the one who began yelling at the mother and daughter that night, and that it was Ennamorati who initiated the physical altercation, according to WCVB. Armstrong maintains that she got involved in an effort to break up the fight.

Idiot and SOB of the Week: Congressman Andy Biggs- Voted AGAINST COVID19 Bill because it Includes Same-Sex Partners

Idiot and Bigot of the Week:  AZ Congressman Andy Biggs
Wow. Even in the midst of a world-wide pandemic that is killing thousands of people, leaving
countless people jobless, there's STILL an asshole. Yes, an asshole. He's beyond idiot. That's AZ Congressman Andy Biggs who voted AGAINST the COVID19 bill because it gives sick leave to same-sex partners. Yes, he's that bigoted and hateful. His hatred for gay people is so deep he would refuse help to anyone in the U.S. There are a lot of idiots, but this ass takes the trophy. People in Arizona, vote this SOB OUT! Here's the story from Newsweek on March 20>>>

REP. ANDY BIGGS VOTED AGAINST CORONAVIRUS BILL BECAUSE IT GIVES SICK LEAVE TO SAME-SEX PARTNERS
March 20, 2020 Newsweek

Arizona Republican Congressman Andy Biggs said during a Monday radio interview produced by the conservative Christian group, the Family Research Council (FRC), that he voted against the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) on Saturday because it included provisions for domestic partnerships, including same-sex relationships.

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, the FRC has been labeled a hate group because of its fervid anti-LGBTQ stance.

Biggs was one of 40 Republicans who voted against the FFCRA, although the legislation was ultimately passed by the House of Representatives.

Language within the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act, which is part of the overall economic package, defines both the terms "domestic partner' and "committed relationship."

"The term 'domestic partner,' with respect to an individual, means another individual with whom the individual is in a committed relationship," read the legislation.

"The term 'committed relationship' means a relationship between 2 individuals, each at least 18 years of age, in which each individual is the other individual's sole domestic partner and both individuals share responsibility for a significant measure of each other's common welfare," the bill continued. "The term includes any such relationship between 2 individuals that is granted legal recognition by a State or political subdivision of a State as a marriage or analogous relationship, including a civil union or domestic partnership."

Biggs took issue with the definitions by claiming the legislation attempted to redefine the meaning of 'family,' something Biggs claimed federal laws had never attempted to accomplish in the past.

"They've redefined family for the first time in a piece of federal legislation to include committed relationships," Biggs said. "The problem with that, of course, is it's really hard to define a committed relationship and it's really hard to define anything related to that and so they've tried to—they've put in, in my opinion—sort of an amorphous definition. But that leaves it wide open and then they expand it, expand on that."

Biggs also said that the provision has nothing to do with the coronavirus, but "that's just par for the course for the Left."

"While LGBTQ couples can be rightfully recognized in marriage today, many LGBTQ and non-LGBTQ Americans remain in domestic partnerships," GLAAD Chief Communications Officer Rich Ferraro told Newsweek. "Voting to harm his LGBTQ constituents and their children is nothing new, but using COVID-19 to do it is a new low for Representative Biggs."

"Representative Biggs' constituents, his wife Cindy Biggs, and their family should be ashamed and angry that during a national crisis when Americans are coming together, Representative Biggs is busy continuing his long campaign to harm LGBTQ families and also using his unethical relationships with anti-LGBTQ hate groups like the Family Research Council to inaccurately claim this relief bill would 'redefine family,'" Ferraro added.

Biggs and his wife have been previously linked with United Families International (UFI), a conservative Christian group noted for its stance against same-sex marriage. Representative Biggs was reportedly the group's policy adviser while his wife, Cindy, was the secretary and treasurer.

In an article published on UFI's website in February, the organization says that shifting the definition of marriage away from the traditional viewpoint of one man and woman "is to ignore a fundamental truth that gives substance to our understanding of how human beings interact, and how we teach this moral belief to our children."

"When marriage is undermined the healthy family is as well, and thus the strength of our nation," the article adds.

THIS ASSHOLE HAS A HISTORY OF BIGOTRY- On March 7, 2019, the Arizona Republic reported:
Arizona's Reps. Andy Biggs and Paul Gosar once again went against the grain in the House, opposing Thursday a resolution condemning bigotry in the wake of repeated comments by a freshman Democrat seen as anti-Semitic.
The Republican lawmakers were on the short end of a 407-23 vote on a resolution that condemned anti-Semitism and anti-Muslim bias.

SUPER-Bigoted Idiot of the Week: Commissioner Warren Hurst, unloads on white rights, 'queer running for president'

Bigot, Pig, Idiot of the Week: Warren Hurst of Sevier County, Tennessee
This week's idiot infuriates me. He is the Sevier County Commissioner and his name is Warren Hurst.
This Tennessee "Commissioner" was calling for "White Rights" and attacks Mayor Pete as a "queer running for President." What an IGNORANT, BIGOTED, UNEDUCATED, WHITE NATIONALIST jackass.
It's appalling that such ignorant, stupid people are still elected to office in the state I once lived in and love. He is a disgrace and should be immediately tossed out of office. People in public office should have some sense of decorum and stand for all people. This ignorant man needs to be thrown out.  What's also infuriating is that HALF of the people in that hearing CLAPPED when this asshole said those things. YOU LOOK PRETTY DUMB, TENNESSEE.

Here's the story about the IDIOT OF THE WEEK - from www.thehill.com:

Tennessee county commissioner unloads on white rights, 'queer running for president'

A Tennessee county commissioner said he has “very few rights” as a white man in America during a Monday meeting where he also said an openly gay person running for president is “about as ugly as you can get.”

Sevier County Commissioner Warren Hurst’s comments came as he spoke on a pending vote over becoming a gun sanctuary city, reports WVLT, a local CBS affiliate.

“It's time we wake up people. It's time, it's past time," Hurst said, according to video footage reported by WVLT.

"I'm not prejudice, a white male in this country has very few rights and they're getting took more every day,” he added, though he did not expand on what rights were being taken away from him for being a white man based on the reported video footage.

Hurst then hit the Democratic Party candidates, specifically calling out an openly gay candidate for running in the race.

Idiot of the Week: Jerry Falwell Jr's. "Racy pictures"

The Disgusting Jerry Falwell Jr. Th
The biggest homophobe, Jerry Falwell Jr. idiot from Liberty University in Virginia, has apparently been sending naked pictures out... and Trump's former Attorney (now in prison), Michael Cohen prevented the photos from being made public.
Interesting Timing, too:  Months before evangelical leader Jerry Falwell Jr.’s game-changing presidential endorsement of Donald Trump in 2016, Falwell asked Trump fixer Michael Cohen for a personal favor regarding some “personal” photographs.
As a gay guy,  I have ZERO interest in seeing this hypocritical ugly bigot's naked pictures. He's disgusting on so many levels and very unattractive. My personal feelings aside, here's the story of this week's IDIOT:

Cohen claimed he helped bury personal photographs for Jerry Falwell Jr. before the evangelical leader backed Trump

Michael Cohen, President Trump’s longtime personal attorney, claimed to have helped prevent the release of personal photographs embarrassing to Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. shortly before the influential evangelical leader endorsed Trump’s insurgent presidential bid in 2016.

Cohen made the assertion, which was first reported by Reuters, in a phone call in March with actor Tom Arnold. Arnold provided The Washington Post with a recording of the call Tuesday night.

“There’s a bunch of photographs — you know, personal photographs — that somehow, the guy ended up getting,” Cohen said on the call. The person who had the photos, who is not identified on the call, was demanding money from the Falwells, and Cohen threatened to report the person to legal authorities, according to Reuters.

Reuters reported that the alleged episode took place months before Falwell’s endorsement of Trump. Arnold told The Post that Cohen told him it occurred during the presidential race.

A statement released by an attorney for the Falwells called the account “not accurate.”

“While the Falwells have a long-standing friendship with Michael Cohen, they never engaged or paid Cohen to represent them in any legal or other professional capacity, and Cohen did not ever resolve any legal matter on their behalf,” the statement said.

The attorney, who declined to be named, said in a follow-up text message that “there are no compromising or embarrassing photos of Falwell, period!”

Lanny Davis, a spokesman for Cohen, declined to comment. Cohen began serving a three-year prison sentence on Monday for tax evasion and campaign-finance violations.

Arnold, a staunch critic of the president’s, said he became friends with Cohen last summer, adding that the longtime Trump confidant sees him as an ally.

Arnold said Cohen did not know that he was recording their March conversation at the time, but Arnold said that he subsequently told Cohen that he had recorded it. He said he indicated to Cohen that he would release details about the Falwell portion of their conversation after Cohen went to prison.

“He knows I’m going to help him,” Arnold said, adding: “I said, ‘As soon as you go in: Jerry Falwell Jr.’ ”

Last month, Arnold shared with the Wall Street Journal his March 25 phone call with Cohen. The Journal reported on other portions of the 36-minute conversation, including Cohen denying responsibility for some of his crimes.

The longtime Trump fixer said he kept a copy of one of the Falwell photos on his phone, Cohen told Arnold on their March 25 call.

It is unclear what the photos allegedly depicted. Cohen described the images as “photos between husband, wife, and the whole bit.”

“I actually have one of the photos,” he said on the recording. “It’s terrible.”

Falwell’s early support of Trump was seen as crucial, giving the candidate a key stage in front of evangelicals, an important group of voters for Trump.

He delivered a glowing welcome to Trump during a campaign visit by Trump to Liberty University in 2016 and formally endorsed him. His continued support for Trump after the “Access Hollywood” video was released was seen as critical to the Trump campaign, although some graduates returned their diplomas over Falwell’s support.

“Jesus said ‘Judge not, lest ye be judged,’ ” Falwell wrote in an essay for The Washington Post in 2016. “Let’s stop trying to choose the political leaders who we believe are the most godly because, in reality, only God knows people’s hearts. You and I don’t, and we are all sinners.”

As recently as this week, Falwell made headlines for his lavish praise of Trump. The president shared a tweet over the weekend in which Falwell declared, “Trump should have 2 yrs added to his 1st term as pay back for time stolen by this corrupt failed coup.”

According to the Reuters report, the Falwells asked Cohen for help with the photographs around the time Cohen was working with Liberty University to promote Trump’s candidacy in 2015.

Cohen flew to Florida, met with a lawyer for the person with the photos and informed him that his client was breaking the law, Reuters reported. Arnold said that Cohen described the Florida trip to him.

Ultimately, the lawyer told Cohen that all of the photos were destroyed, Reuters reported.

“I was going to pay him and I was going to get the negatives and do an agreement where they turn over all technology that has the photographs or anything like that, any copies,” Cohen told Arnold on the call. “And it never happened. The guy just either deleted them on his own or what have you.”

In January 2016, days before the Iowa caucuses, Falwell formally announced his backing of Trump, calling him “a successful executive and entrepreneur, a wonderful father and a man who I believe can lead our country to greatness again.”

Along with religious leaders such as evangelist Franklin Graham and Florida megachurch pastor Paula White, Falwell is seen as one of Trump’s most prominent religious supporters.

He is the son of the late televangelist Jerry Falwell Sr., a megachurch pastor who helped to organize religious conservatives especially in the 1970s and ’80s. Falwell has taken the school his father started in 1971 in Lynchburg, Va., and expanded it into one of the largest Christian universities in the world, with more than 100,000 students. Last year, the university released a film suggesting Trump had fulfilled a divine prophecy.

One of the largest universities in the country, Liberty is seen as an innovator in online education and has become a prominent platform for politicians to visit. Trump gave a commencement address there in 2017, and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) spoke there in 2015.

Falwell is expected to welcome Vice President Pence to deliver the university’s commencement address on Saturday.
