Even Cat Sitters Get the Blues" was another outstanding mystery!

Another great mystery in the Dixie Hemingway Mysteries series. Book 3, called "Even Cat Sitters Get the Blues" was another outstanding mystery of a pet sitter with a great personality, interesting characters, romantic interests, and complicated mystery. 
  I bought the first two books in the series and immediately wanted to read more, so I ordered several more in the series. I can't wait to read the rest of them!  I won't give the story line away, and will just put the book summary promo below.

BOOK SUMMARY: Dixie Hemingway has a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The day she happens upon the dead body outside a fancy mansion is no different. She's had her fill of homicide investigations, so she leaves the gate-keeper's corpse to be found by somebody else. Unfortunately, that somebody else sees Dixie leaving the scene of the crime, and the fatal bullet might have even come from her own gun! To make matters worse, the owner of the mansion is Dixie's new client—a scientist who is either a genius, insane, or both—whose pet iguana is under her charge. All that, plus a feisty calico kitten that needs some TLC, means that time is running out for Dixie to catnip this case in the bud… and collar the killer.

  Back on Sept. 14th, we posted a blog about the book "Duplicity Dogged the Dachshund," which I thoroughly enjoyed. That was the 2nd in the "Dixie Hemingway mystery series" by Blaize Clement. I went back and bought the first in the series called "Curiosity Killed the Cat Sitter" and it was ALSO fantastic.   
    Dixie is a 32 year old former Sheriff's deputy, widower and now pet sitter with a vivid personality. The supporting characters of her gay brother and partner as a fireman and undercover cop really added to the story and you could picture Dixie talking with them and dining with them. In addition to a murder or two that will keep you guessing, I also enjoyed reading about a young gay character that Dixie met. He lived in a house with two hateful, bigoted parents, and he tried keeping his secret until an accident. - Although a minor part of the fast-paced main storyline, the author did a great job explaining the stress and horror teenagers deal with, who grow up in a home with unaccepting and even hostile, bigoted parents. Again, that was a fringe storyline.
   There were funny parts, serious parts, intrigue, mystery, murders, and of course cats and dogs. 
I will be ordering ALL of Blaize Clements "Dixie Hemingway" novels. You should read them, too! - Rob

I just read one of the best pet mysteries I've ever read: Duplicity Dogged the Dachshund by Blaize Clement

    This was my first read of the Dixie Hemingway mystery series and I loved it. Truly one of the better pet-mystery-type stories I've read (and I've read many). Dixie is a 32 year old former Sheriff's deputy, widower and now pet sitter with a vivid personality. The supporting characters of her gay brother and partner as a fireman and undercover cop really added to the story and you could picture Dixie talking with them and dining with them. There were funny parts, serious parts, intrigue, mystery, murders, and of course dogs. 

   The author paints a true picture of how different people care for their animals - some very well, others not well - but the character's passion for animals is clear. As a dog rescuer, I thoroughly enjoyed the way the animals were portrayed (in both situations).
  The plot was really well-thought out- and kept you guessing. If anyone thinks the murders were too dark, they need to turn on their television in the U.S. - they weren't, but the way the victim(s) was murdered was interesting, and made you guess.
   You'll enjoy the supporting characters, too- and get inside Dixie's head about men she deals with and struggles to deal with. At one point when she was with an elderly friend I actually laughed out loud reading what the elder character said.
    So, if you want a great mystery, solid, developed characters, dogs, something to make you laugh, cry, thrilled and wonder who is behind it all- I highly recommend this book. I look forward to reading Blaize Clement's other novels! - Rob
