IT HAPPENED TO US - The windows fogged up. That's exactly what happened to the 4 windows in the front of out house in November (always at the start of the winter). So, we ordered and paid for 4 new windows in November, and they finally came in and were installed in early January when it was of course, 25 degrees Fahrenheit outside....

The new windows are once again clear and filled with gas |
BEST GAS IN THERMAL WINDOWS - Fill the space between panes of glass in the IGU with a heavy, inert gas such as argon or krypton. (Not from Superman's homeworld, I might add)
HOW THE GASES INSULATE - In these dense gases, the molecules move very
much slower under the impact of thermal energy, which means windows with
IGUs filled with such a gas will create a much better barrier against
heat loss. For this reason, nearly all insulated thermal windows now use
one of the inert gases to fill the space between panes.
