We were jointed by our friend Jeff and saw the re-enactment of the funeral of President Lincoln (whose body was transported by train from Washington, DC to his home state of Illinois).

THE EXHIBIT -

replica casket, Civil War soldier re-enactors and funeral music played by the Federal City Brass Band.

THE CASKET- Tom overheard that the museum had the replica casket made to look exactly like the one that President Lincoln was buried in. Lincoln's casket was made of walnut with lead lining, covered with white satin and framed with silver plates. There was also a life-like mannequin of the President in the casket and people walked by to pay their respects.
