- New Hampshire has had a gay marriage law for a couple of years now, and we have friends that have married under the law. NOW, there's a huge move by the Republican Party to repeal the gay marriage law and Invalidate all of the gay marriages. A nasty, hateful thing to do, and certainly not one of equality.
- NOT all Republicans believe in repealing gay marriage. We have straight friends who are Republicans that live in NH and believe in gay marriage rights. Now we know they're not alone.
- It was founded by a straight, married, Republican, Ex-marine who has a gay brother. Republicans For Gay Marriage in NH |
I can't tell you how relieved I (Rob) am to see this group and movement. I think all states should read their message and be aware of it.
PLEASE SIGN THEIR PETITION NOW TO SAVE GAY MARRIAGE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE (you can be from any state):
ABOUT THE GROUP: http://standingupfornhfamilies.org/
Standing Up for New Hampshire Families is a bipartisan group of
citizens, business owners, people of faith, and civic leaders who
oppose repealing the popular 2009 law allowing gay and lesbian couples
to marry. Lew Feldstein, former president and chief executive officer of
the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, and Craig Stowell, a former
Marine who served in Iraq, serve as co-chairs.
Feldstein has been named one of the ten most influential people in New Hampshire by Business NH Magazine. Last year, he was inducted into the New Hampshire Business Review’s Business Excellence Hall of Fame. Feldstein serves on the Boards of Directors of the Independent Sector and the National Center for Family Philanthropy. He is a graduate of Brown University and holds a Master’s in Law and Diplomacy from Tufts University.
Stowell, a former Marine who served in Iraq, provided testimony before the New Hampshire Legislature earlier this year on behalf of his gay brother’s freedom to marry. He also wrote an Open Letter to state lawmakers published in the Union Leader. “As a former Marine, I take freedom and liberty very seriously,” he wrote. “And as a conservative, I find the effort to take away marriage from loving gay and lesbian couples not only to be wrong, but completely off task. This is not why we sent you to Concord.”
