BRADFORD, Vt. — A man from South Paris, Maine is facing charges after Vermont State Police say he tried to drive his car over a wooden footbridge on private property.

Police say Christopher Shorey, 70, was in Bradford, Vermont, at about 3 p.m. Wednesday when he drove down a narrow walking trail and tried to cross the foot bridge. A picture shared by police shows the car had to go down a hill with a narrow path before getting to the bridge.

Shorey's 2018 Volvo S90 broke through the bridge, causing extensive damage. Police said the car was partially hanging off the edge of the bridge.

Firefighters helped get Shorey safely out of the car.

Troopers say they observed signs of impairment and say Shorey made comments about drinking.

He was taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center to be checked out and then issued a citation on charges of driving under the influence and negligent operation. He is due in court in September.

The car was being removed from the bridge on Thursday.

The bridge itself was built in 1997 and helps connect a walking path to the elementary school in town, though it is privately owned. Volunteers were already working to rally supplies and efforts to rebuild the bridge.

Idiot of the week Mass. driver charged with speeding 120 mph

Another weekend, another idiot speeding. This moron was doing TWICE the speed limit on a well-traveled state highway in New Hampshire. He also drove north from Massachusetts to share his stupidity.

Idiot of the Week: Another Jan. 6er Imprisoned for Life. He plotted to kill FBI special agents who investigated him

There's a reason why the criminals who participated in Jan. 6th were imprisoned. Since the felon pardoned them all earlier this year, quite a few have committed more crimes and have been imprisoned again. This week's idiot got life for plotting to kill 2 FBI agents who investigated him. And his co-conspirator's trial is next. Sigh.

Jan. 6 defendant sentenced to life in prison for plotting to kill FBI special agents who investigated him

President Donald Trump's mass pardon of Jan. 6 rioters did not apply to Edward Kelley's separate plot to murder law enforcement officials, the Justice Department said.

July 2, 2025 MSNBC, By Ryan J. Reilly

WASHINGTON — A Jan. 6 defendant who plotted to murder FBI special agents who investigated him over his actions at the Capitol was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday.

Edward Kelley was convicted in November of conspiracy to murder employees of the United States; solicitation to commit a crime of violence; and influencing or retaliating against federal officials by threat. President Donald Trump pardoned Kelley, alongside roughly 1,500 other Jan. 6 defendants, in January.

U.S. District Judge Thomas A. Varlan imposed the sentence on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 during a hearing in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Kelley's team argued that Trump's pardon should apply to his conduct in the murder plot. While the Justice Department had argued that the pardons should apply to separate gun cases against other Jan. 6 defendants, they said the pardon did not apply to Kelley's conduct. A federal judge ruled that Trump's pardon did not apply to the murder plot.

Federal prosecutors sought life in prison for Kelley, calling him “remorseless" and writing that he had "shown neither a capacity nor desire" to rehabilitate.

"On the contrary, Kelley not only believes the actions for which he was convicted were justified but that his duty as a self-styled ‘patriot’ compelled him to target East Tennessee law enforcement for assassination,” federal prosecutors wrote in a sentencing memo.

Kelley, prosecutors wrote, "committed crimes that are serious, violent, and all designed to achieve the same end: the murder of federal, state, and local law enforcement."

Kelley "formed a self-styled militia to attack the FBI," and "conducted combat drills to realize his plan," they wrote. He "strategized ways to bomb the FBI Knoxville office" and "identified a 'hornet’s nest' at which to store his various weapons at 'arms’ reach.'" Kelley also "devised a kill list of individual agents to be targeted" and then "gave the go-ahead command — 'start it' — to his confederates, noting that 'every hit has to hurt.'"

Kelley's lawyer wrote that "no individual was directly threatened with harm or violence by Kelley, and no one was injured" and that "Kelley does not deserve the same sentence as an actual 'terrorist' who injured or killed hundreds or thousands" of Americans.

Austin Carter, who admitted that he conspired with Kelley in the murder plot and pleaded guilty, is scheduled to be sentenced next month.

Florida Republican nearly died under the abortion law she supports

Republican legislators like this moron, Rep. Kat Cammack (R) in Florida who suffered from an Ectopic pregnancy and required abortion care was furious at doctors who were scared to do anything for fear of being arrested, fined or losing their license, because of FLORIDA LAWS, that this MORON put in place. When she needed it, she was furious and instead blamed democrats who had nothing to do with it. It was HER OWN FAULT. In these cases, they should have left her alone to suffer. I have NO SYMPATHY for these hateful people. They only care when it hurts them. Here's her story.

Anti-Abortion Lawmaker Blames The Left After Docs Delay Care For Her Life-Threatening Pregnancy

Huff post, June 25, 2025

Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.) opened up about her life-threatening experience with an ectopic pregnancy last year amid her state’s six-week abortion ban, which left health professionals in fear of prosecution for delivering reproductive care.

Cammack detailed her life-threatening experience with the Wall Street Journal in an interview published over the weekend. She said she learned about her ectopic pregnancy, a condition in which a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, in May last year. She was five weeks pregnant and had woken up with heavy bleeding.

Ectopic pregnancies are nonviable and life-threatening. Cammack told WSJ she refused surgery to remove the embryo, and instead asked for methotrexate, a drug that can stop the embryo’s growth and dissolve existing cells.

However, doctors and nurses were hesitant to give her the medication out of fear of losing their license or worse, facing criminal charges amid the six-week abortion ban that had taken effect that month.

Cammack pulled up the state law on her phone for hospital workers to read, and tried calling Gov. Ron Desantis’ (R) office for help, but her calls were unanswered. She eventually received methotrexate hours after arguing her case.

Florida’s abortion ban has exceptions for the life of the pregnant person, and it allows for the treatment of ectopic pregnancies. However, lifesaving care has nevertheless been delayed or denied altogether to some Florida women under its law, and medical professionals have expressed concern about the law being unclear.

Cammack, who opposes abortion, blamed the wariness of her doctors on the left, not on the abortion ban. She told the WSJ that the left’s messaging around the law had made health care workers paranoid about criminal penalties.

Idiots of the Week: Dozens of drivers caught speeding over 100 mph on I-93 in NH

There's a dangerous problem in New Hampshire, and it's drivers who decide that driving at excessive and dangerous speeds is something to do. They obviously have no regard for anyone's safety. Memorial Day weekend brought out dozens of insane, selfish drivers on Interstate 93 in NH, which goes through the large cities of Manchester and state capitol of Concord. Here's the story.

‘Reckless driving’: Dozens of drivers clocked at speeding over 100 mph on I-93 in NH

By Maria Papadopoulos, Boston 25 News May 26, 2025 at 8:34 pm EDT

SALEM, N.H. — A Massachusetts man driving a sports car at approximately 140 mph was among dozens of drivers who were stopped for excessive speed on Interstate 93 on Memorial Day, state police said Monday.

Brandon E. Babcock, 22, of Salem, Massachusetts, was arrested on multiple charges, including reckless driving and disobeying an officer, state police said.

Babcock was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in Salem District Court on July 17.

Babcock is among 42 drivers who were clocked traveling at 90 mph or faster, and six drivers who were seen driving recklessly at 100 mph or faster, state police said.

On Monday morning, troopers assigned to the Special Enforcement Unit used the unit’s fixed-wing aircraft to detect dangerous driving behaviors on I-93 northbound in Salem, state police said.

Troopers noted 111 motor vehicle violations, which included excessive speed, cell phone use, following too closely, “Move Over” law violations, and reckless driving, state police said.

At 7:45 a.m. Monday, troopers saw a white 2024 Corvette traveling at 110 mph.

When troopers attempted to stop the Corvette, the driver, later identified as Babcock, “sped up significantly and passed other drivers recklessly, across all other lanes of travel,” state police said.

Trooper Thomas Lombardi monitored the vehicle from the State Police aircraft, noting speeds of approximately 140 mph before the driver of the Corvette got off the interstate at Exit 3 and continued onto side roads in Windham.

Lombardi kept an eye on the Corvette from the sky and guided troopers to its location on the ground, state police said.

Ultimately, Sgt. John LaPointe pulled Babcock over on Johnson Road, and arrested him.

The minimum penalties for reckless driving in New Hampshire include a fine of $620 with an additional mandatory penalty assessment and a 60-day loss of driver’s license, state police said.

The standard fine for traveling 86 mph or greater is $434.

“The members of the State Police extend their gratitude to all drivers who traveled through the state safely during the holiday weekend and encourages residents and visitors to remain alert and responsible during the summer season,” state police said.

Idiot of the Week: Right-wing Influencer arrested- ‘track record’ of sexually abusing teen girls

This week's idiot is another right-wing Trump supporter arrested for sexually abusing teenage girls. This guy is also a right-wing media influencer. On top of this idiot, over the last month, you read about two other right-wing nuts arrested for sex with teens: Trump's previous "spiritual guide"/pastor and a Minnesota legislator who thought people who didn't vote for trump were deranged. (Ironic, isn't it, that these sickos blame LGBTQ people who don't do this, while these GOP guys are the ones molesting children). Today's blog is about the latest Idiot.

Right-wing Influencer has ‘track record’ of sexually abusing girls as young as 13

By Nate Gartrell | Bay Area News Group ,UPDATED: March 20, 2025

SAN FRANCISCO — If a court filing by federal prosecutors is any indication, the allegations against Ricci Wynne are even worse than previously believed.

Wynne, a 39-year-old right-wing social media influencer, is already facing state charges of pimping a woman in San Francisco, and a federal indictment on charges of possessing child sexual abuse material of two girls. But in a court filing, prosecutors revealed he is also suspected of sexually abusing girls, one who met him when she was 12, and was allegedly sexually abused by Wynne on camera at age 13.

“(Wynne’s) established track record of sexually abusing children demonstrates he should be detained,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Cheng wrote in the document. He added that after being released in a prior drug case Wynne “almost immediately” began “contacting children as young as 12 or 13 and then sexually abusing them.”

“Evidence recently identified by investigators shows (Wynne) not only sexually abused children, but further video recorded many of his sexual acts with them,” Cheng added.

The document, filed in December but not previously reported, gives the public its best glimpse into the allegations against a man who has made a career as an influencer and commentator by highlighting the worst aspects of life in San Francisco. He posted a widely-viewed “Mister Rogers” parody that went viral, depicting a trash-and-graffiti filled city alleyway, and has appeared as a Fox News guest, mocking safe consumption sites and other progressive policies.

But according to federal prosecutors, while Wynne was railing against the political status quo, he was harboring dark secrets. In 2018, authorities investigated a tip that he was involved in pimping and pandering, but found evidence he advertised a “cocaine buffet” online, resulting in a federal drug case based in San Francisco.

The case ended with a request from prosecutors for a 12-year prison term, highlighting their suspicions about “human trafficking” and arguing he sold cocaine while armed, and was with a teen girl when he was arrested. The defense, though, convinced U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer to forgo jail altogether, portraying Wynne as a lifelong victim of abuse who witnessed atrocities as a child, who suffers from a learning disability and who tried to harm himself multiple times during his jail stay.

But after getting out of jail, while still on supervised release, Wynne began grooming girls, prosecutors allege. He met one when she was 14, then allegedly sexually abused her when she turned 15. Police later found videos on Wynne’s electronic devices showing him “in multiple types of sex acts with a juvenile victim that appears to the officer to be in her early teens at the underdeveloped puberty stage.”

The girl, identified in court as Minor Victim 2, was later identified by a school resource officer who knows her. Police believe she was 12 when Wynne met her, and 13 when the alleged sexual abuse occurred.

All the while, Wynne was building his public persona as a reformed ex-drug dealer who was concerned about San Francisco’s descent into fentanyl-plagued chaos. He amassed more than 100,000 Instagram followers, mocked the city’s inability to curb homelessness and frequently posted impromptu video interviews, sometimes confrontational, with homeless people or suspected drug addicts.

The pimping charge, which involves allegations he pandered a woman, involves a police raid that turned up $79,900 in currency, prosecutors allege.

Wynne is behind bars at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin and cannot be bailed out, records show. He is next due in court March 26, where he is set to appear in front of the same judge, Breyer, who declined to send him to prison in 2021.

Idiot of the Week: Teen Accused Of Driving 122 MPH With Kids Inside A Car

This week's idiot is another driver who drove at excessive speeds on a New Hampshire highway. This time, it was a teenager. It would be dangerous enough if he was alone, but there was a woman and two small children in the car. Thankfully, the New Hampshire State Police stopped him before a tragedy. Today's blog shares that story.

NH Teen Accused Of Driving 122 MPH With Kids Inside A Car

Tony Schinella, Patch. com, March 12, 2025

CONCORD, NH — A Queen City teen was arrested Saturday by New Hampshire State Police accused of driving 122 mph with infants in his car.

Around 11:30 a.m. on Interstate 93 south in Londonderry, a state trooper patrolling the area saw the Dodge Charger Hellcat driving at more than 100 mph. The trooper accused the driver, Jaden Cummings, 18, of having passengers in the car. The car was clocked at 122 mph, Michal Sventek, a public information officer for state police.

Karma for Idiot of the Week: An Election-Denying AZ Clerk Sentenced to 9 Years in Prison!

This week's idiot is another Trump-related lawbreaking criminal jerk, and Karma arrived. Her bogus claims also sparked death threats against Colorado County Clerks Association director Matt Crane and his family. She refused to apologize or admit her actions were criminal and hurtful to others. This scum, like the others around the country who also tried the same thing, deserve to rot in prison. America is better than them.  Here's the story.

ARIZONA ELECTION-DENYING CLERK GETS 9 YEARS IN PRISON

A judge called a Colorado county clerk a "charlatan" over her crimes and lies before sentencing her to nine years. Former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters was a one-time hero to election deniers

MEAD GRUVER , Associated Press, Oct 4, 2024

ARIZONA (AP) - A judge ripped into a Colorado county clerk for her crimes and lies before sentencing her Thursday to nine years behind bars for a data-breach scheme spawned from the rampant false claims about voting machine fraud in the 2020 presidential race.

District Judge Matthew Barrett told former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters — after earlier sparring with her for continuing to press discredited claims about rigged voting machines — that she never took her job seriously.

VIDEO REPORT:

Video link: https://youtu.be/t7h2tkzjtVg?si=EM68XqvkpOjvWIaw

“I am convinced you would do it all over again if you could. You’re as defiant as any defendant this court has ever seen,” Barrett told her in handing down the sentence. “You are no hero. You abused your position and you’re a charlatan.”

Jurors found Peters guilty in August for allowing a man to misuse a security card to access to the Mesa County election system and for being deceptive about that person’s identity.

The man was affiliated with My Pillow chief executive Mike Lindell, a prominent promoter of false claims that voting machines were manipulated to steal the election from former President Donald Trump. The discredited claims trace back to Trump himself, whose supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol because of them and who still hints at them in his third run for president.

At trial, prosecutors said Peters, a Republican, was seeking fame and became “fixated” on voting problems after becoming involved with those who had questioned the accuracy of the presidential election results.

A one-time hero to election deniers, Peters has been unapologetic about what happened.

Before being sentenced, Peters insisted that everything she did to try to unroot what she believed was fraud was for the greater good. “I’ve never done anything with malice to break the law. I’ve only wanted to serve the people of Mesa County,” she told the court.

When Peters pressed on with claims no legal authority has corroborated about “wireless devices” and fraud software in voting machines, however, she drew the judge’s exasperation. Ballot recounts showed no discrepancies, he pointed out.

“I’ve let you go on enough about this,” Judge Barrett said. “The votes are the votes.”

Later, the judge noted that Peters has kept up public appearances in broadcasts to sympathetic audiences for her own benefit.

“It’s just more lies. No objective person believes them. No, at the end of the day, you cared about the jets, the podcasts and people fawning over you,” Barrett said.

Peters had the right to be defiant, he noted, but it was “certainly not helpful for her lot today.”

The breach led by Peters heightened concerns that rogue election workers sympathetic to partisan lies could use their access and knowledge to attack voting processes from within.

It’s impossible to overestimate the damage Peters has done to other election workers in Colorado and elsewhere, Colorado County Clerks Association director Matt Crane told the court.

“In a real and specific way, her actions have led directly to death threats and general threats to the lives and the families of the people who work in our elections,” Crane said. “She has willingly aided individuals in our country who believe that violence is a way to make a point. She has knowingly fueled a fire within others who choose threats as a means to get their way.”

He, his wife and his children have been among those threatened, Crane said.

In Mesa County — a scenic, mostly rural area on the Colorado Western Slope known for its peaches, vineyards and mountain biking as well as oil and gas drilling — Peters’ actions have cost the local government $1.4 million in legal fees and lost employee time, County Commissioner Cody Davis estimated at the sentencing hearing.

Also Peters’ notoriety has incurred “unseen costs” for the area, Davis told the court. “We have a lot of pride in this community but our reputation has taken a hit,” Davis said. “Her behavior has made this county a national laughingstock.”

Peters was convicted of three counts of attempting to influence a public servant, one count of conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation, first-degree official misconduct, violation of duty and failing to comply with the secretary of state.

She was found not guilty of identity theft, one count of conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation and one count of criminal impersonation. Yet she persisted on social media to accuse Colorado-based Dominion Voting Systems, which made her county’s election system, and others of stealing votes.

Idiot of the Week: Shelby Busch Said She’d ‘Lynch’ Election Official

This week's idiot is Shelby Busch, a Top politician in Arizona's Maricopa County, who called for lynching the election official who is responsible for certifying votes and because the last election didn't go for Trump, she clearly said she would murder him by hanging. This woman, who claims to be a Christian, wants to murder an innocent man for doing his job, when the outcome doesn't suit her insanity.

Top Maricopa County GOP Official Said She’d ‘Lynch’ Election Official
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A new viral video shows Shelby Busch, one of the leaders of the Maricopa County GOP, saying she’d lynch Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer.

video: https://youtu.be/AnEYtFuMi5Q?si=kc31uoM_QN--mlqc

******************************************************

It’s not the first time Richer has faced threats or verbal insults from his own party. Over the past two years, Richer has received numerous death threats related to the last election.

Since the 2022 election, several men have been sentenced or indicted for threatening the county’s top election official. Richer said that kind of language has no place in politics

“If lynching is in your vocabulary you need to have a heart to heart with yourself,” Richer said. “That shouldn’t be in your vocabulary given the history of that term and it shouldn’t be on your vocabulary to say about anyone you with whom you disagree.”

We contacted the state GOP for comment but haven’t heard back.

Given the history of verbal abuse and threats he’s received from his party, Richer also said he was not going to vote this year for Donald Trump, Who has accused Richer of wrongdoing and pushed unsubstantiated claims that the elections have been rigged.

Richer’s comments followed the final debate before early voting starts next week.

Current state lawmaker Justin Heap and information technology management expert Don Hiatt are also running for county recorder. Unlike his opponents, Richer was the only candidate on stage who stated that the 2020 and 2022 elections were not stolen.

Busch responded to a request for comment from Arizona’s Family. She said: “Everyone knows I don’t like Richer. The statement was a joke and was said in jest. I do not condone and would never condone violence against anyone.”

The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Phoenix and the ADL Desert also released a statement saying that they are appalled by these vile comments against Richer, who is Jewish.

“We urge Ms. Busch to retract and apologize, and the Maricopa County Republican Party to stand against such rhetoric,” the groups said.

Idiot of the Week: Co-worker Caught on Video Dumping Water in Colleague's Bag (after 5 months)

Imagine hating someone at work who holds different beliefs than you, enough to drench their bag of personal belongings with water over the course of 5 months. I can't. The man who was the victim reported that someone had been soaking his personal effects for that long, and he finally set up a spy camera that caught the female co-worker who kept doing it. The reason isn't clear, but what is clear is that she is the Idiot of the Week. It also happens they work for the State of Vermont. Here's the story.

Lawmaker Releases Spy Cam Video of a Rival Dumping Water in His Bag
By KEVIN MCCALLUM, Seven Days Newspaper, Vermont, June 11, 2024

Spy camera videos of a Republican lawmaker dumping water into a Democratic rival’s bag at the Statehouse were released on Tuesday, confirming previous reporting by Seven Days about the bizarre incident.

Rep. Jim Carroll (D-Bennington) shared with Seven Days two videos he surreptitiously took in the Statehouse hallway that captured Rep. Mary Morrissey (R-Bennington) pouring a cup of liquid into his tote bag as it hung on a hook outside his committee room.

The paper requested copies of the videos on May 30 under the state Public Records Act, a request Carroll initially denied through an attorney. But on Tuesday morning, days after Seven Days wrote about the videos and the confidential ethics investigation into Morrissey’s conduct, Carroll released a written statement.

VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/R2evxfn3xlc?si=KesBAaHD3Qu3AemF

"I have been very reluctant to disclose the video because I believe it will deeply embarrass Representative Morrissey,” Carroll wrote. “However, it has become clear to me that the media are aware of the details of Representative Morrissey’s behavior, and likely will continue to report on that behavior in the near future.”

The videos, which Carroll took using a remote camera in an effort to catch the person responsible for repeatedly soaking his belongings, show Morrissey, 67, approaching a bag outside Carroll's committee room and dumping a cup of water directly into it. Portions of both videos are obscured, as though the camera is partially concealed behind something. Both videos captured Morrissey from behind, so her face is not shown. But her distinctive shock of long gray hair leaves little doubt that it is her. Her committee room is right across a Statehouse hallway from Carroll's.

In the first video, taken March 23 at 9:10 a.m., shows Morrissey, wearing a gray suit, entering the frame. She walks directly to the tan and green bag, reaches up and, as though watering a houseplant, pours a cup of liquid into the bag.

In the second, taken March 26 at 12:21 p.m., Carroll can be seen sticking his arm into the bottom of the bag, as though checking its contents. The bag has a Statehouse logo on it, and it rests against a blue sport coat on a hanger.

(Photo: Idiot Rep. Mary Morrissey (R-Bennington) pouring a cup of liquid into her political rival's tote bag . Credit: Seven Days)

Carroll then walks toward his committee room, and seconds later, Morrissey, wearing a rose-colored jacket and scarf, pops into the frame. She quickly lifts a clear cup of water up to the top of the bag, dumps it in and scurries off.

"What that tells me is that she was watching me," Carroll told Seven Days on Tuesday.

Carroll initially told his committee chair, Rep. Mike Marcotte (R-Coventry), about his stuff getting soaked and asked for help figuring out how it was happening. After ruling out other explanations, Carroll concluded he was being targeted. So he conducted a one-man Statehouse sting operation.

He installed a small $23 spy camera in the hallway pointed at the coatrack outside his committee room. He took the video evidence to House Speaker Jill Krowinski (D-Burlington), who confronted Morrissey about it.

Krowinski has been out of the country and unavailable for an interview. Morrissey initially denied responsibility, Carroll said, but in a follow-up meeting where Carroll was present, she apologized to him. "It was a very uncomfortable meeting," Carroll recalled.

After the meeting, Krowinski blocked Morrissey, who was first elected in 1997, from serving on a key legislative committee. The matter was then referred to the House Ethics Panel. The status of the complaint is unclear.

The five-member panel operates in secret and only publicly releases details about complaints if the accused person wants them released or if the panel finds after a formal hearing that the person violated ethics rules.

Morrissey has not returned multiple calls and emails for comment. Minority Leader Rep. Pattie McCoy (R-Poultney), who was present when Krowinski confronted Morrissey, has also not responded to multiple messages.

Rep. Angela Arsenault (D-Williston) previously told Seven Days that Carroll showed her the video during the session and she couldn't believe her eyes.

"It was jaw-dropping," Arsenault recalled. "It was bizarre. Why? That's what I kept saying. Why?"

Idiot of the Week; Someone broke a glass jar at a Public Pool: $15,000 to Clean it

An unknown person at a public pool in Needham, Massachusetts brought a glass jar of salsa to a public pool to enjoy with their chips... and glass is forbidden around the pool to prevent accidents, and pool shutdowns. But this week's idiot (who is unknown) brought it anyway, and apparently dropped it... tossing broken glass in the pool. The pool was closed for days and the cost to drain it was astronomical. Here's the story.

How a jar of salsa led to a costly pool cleanup
Draining, cleaning, and refilling the pool could cost the town somewhere in the vicinity of $15,000 to $20,000, according to the Needham Observer.

Abby Patkin, Boston. com ; July 18, 2024

Needham officials were forced to close and drain a popular lap pool this week after a jar of salsa reportedly shattered poolside, sending glass shards into the water.

The incident happened July 14, shuttering the lap pool at the Rosemary Recreation Complex for several days amid an ongoing heat wave, according to the town’s Park and Recreation department. In a post on Facebook, Park and Recreation Director Stacey Mulroy said the pool needed to be drained and cleaned, chemically rebalanced, and tested for bacteria before it could reopen to the public.

“All these steps take some time,” Mulroy wrote on Sunday. “We are unsure of the exact number of days it will take us to reopen the pool.” In the meantime, some water activities continued as scheduled in the complex’s separate family pool, according to the post.

“As a reminder — there is absolutely NO GLASS of any kind allowed anywhere at the Rosemary Pools,” Mulroy wrote. “Today’s incident was avoidable and unfortunate.”

According to local news site the Needham Observer, the culprit was a broken jar of salsa, and the pool cleanup could cost the town somewhere in the vicinity of $15,000 to $20,000 once staff labor, overtime, and pool chemicals are factored in.

Mulroy told the Observer the clear glass shards can float undetected in the water, posing a risk to swimmers and necessitating a heavy duty cleanup. “They can float into somebody’s eye or somebody’s mouth or into their lungs if they ingest shards of glass,” Mulroy told the news outlet. “That is a more concerning situation, which is why we go through this very specific procedure.”

The 140-member Needham Sharks summer swim team uses the Rosemary lap pool for its practices and meets, and head coach Kate Curtin scrambled to adjust their schedule and find alternative places to practice.

Idiot of the Week: NH Woman Arrested After Driving 112 Mph With Unbuckled Children In Vehicle

This week's idiot is a 23 year old mother of 2 kids who thought it was okay to speed excessively with 2 unbuckled kids. Fortunately, the NH State Police caught her and saved the children. What possesses someone to do that? Here's the story.

NH Woman Arrested After Driving 112 Mph With Unbuckled Children In Vehicle

New Hampshire State Police News Release: May 7, 2024

RAYMOND, N.H. – A Manchester woman is facing multiple charges after driving an SUV more than 100 mph with unbuckled children inside.

On Friday, May 3, 2024, at 9:17 p.m., a State Trooper with the Troop A barracks observed a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV on Route 101 westbound, traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic. At one point, the SUV was observed at 112 mph.

After stopping the driver, the Trooper found two children, ages 1 and 4, inside the SUV. The children were not buckled or secured with any type of child restraint system.

Ex-Trump Finance Chief Weisselberg Jailed For Perjury

A New York State judge on Wednesday sentenced former Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg to five months in jail for lying under oath in the attorney general's civil fraud case against Donald Trump and his business associates, imprisoning a close ally of the former president on the eve of his hush-money trial.

Allen Weisselberg, the former chief financial officer of the Trump Organization, was sentenced Wednesday to five months in jail after pleading guilty to two counts of perjury last month in his testimony during former President Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial.

The sentencing matched Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's recommendation.

After Weisselberg's sentence was agreed upon by prosecutors and the defense, Judge Laurie Peterson asked him whether there was anything he would like to say.

Weisselberg replied, "No, your honor," and the judge handed down the sentence.

The hearing lasted only about two minutes.

Weisselberg was accused of committing perjury in a deposition and during testimony in Trump’s trial, including allegedly lying when he said in July 2020 that he learned Trump’s triplex apartment had been overvalued from a Forbes report, but really knew about it well beforehand, Bragg’s office said.

Idiot of the Week: Another Trumper charged in Jan. 6 Capitol riot was seen taking painting

It's astonishing to think that the guy who orchestrated and conducted an insurrection against the U.S. is currently running for President, while the people who supported him and followed his direction keep going to jail for the idiot/criminal. This week's idiot is another follower of Trump, who was recently arrested and caught in many cameras that showed him stealing a painting from the Capitol. Like Trump, not only is this guy an idiot, but so are all the people who continue to support Trump - which are about 37% of Americans, sadly.

Maine man charged in Jan. 6 Capitol riot was seen taking painting

WASHINGTON — More than three years have passed since the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, but the FBI continues to investigate and make arrests in connection with what happened.

On Monday, Michael Gerard Fournier of Portland was arrested in Portland and charged with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restrict building or grounds; disorderly conduct in a Capitol building or grounds and; parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building.

He is the ninth person from Maine charged in connection with the riot.

On Jan. 11, 2021, just five days after the riot, someone who knew Fournier reached out to the FBI and identified him as having taken part in the riot, according to court documents filed Monday.

In November of 2021, court documents say the FBI met with Fournier's brother, who confirmed that Fournier was in Washington, DC on the day of the riot. In August of 2022, the brother told the FBI that Fournier was inside the Capitol during the riot.

On Dec. 3, 2021, Fournier's then-attorney, Michael Zerillo, provided a letter to the FBI in which he admitted to being inside the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021. In that letter, Fournier claimed that he “observed no signage restricting his entry” into the U.S. Capitol and “there was no attempt to stop the protestors on that side of the building from entering.”

The FBI says Fournier is first seen on video at 2:38 p.m. on Jan. 6, 2021, approaching the Capitol from the east. He was seen taking a picture on the sidewalk and then continuing to the front of the Capitol where a crowd had gathered.

Campaign memo suggests Haley moving on regardless of primary outcome in New Hampshire A short time later, court documents say Fournier was seen climbing the Capitol steps to the Rotunda doors chanting "It's our house" with his fist raised in the air.

At 3:02 p.m., the FBI says Fournier was seen entering the Capitol through the Rotunda doors, by which time windows in the doors had already been smashed and alarms were sounding.

One minute later, Fournier entered the Rotunda and spent several minutes there, appearing to take pictures and/or video.

At 3:06 p.m., video shows Fournier coming face to face with a line of law enforcement officers wearing riot helmets as officers tried to clear the Rotunda.

He was then seen trying to leave the building but was stopped as Capitol Police officers temporarily closed the doors.

At 3:09 p.m., Fournier was seen talking with another person inside the Capitol who had picked up a painting. Fournier took the painting from the other person and was seen walking away with it. Two minutes later, he returned to the Rotunda area, no longer holding the painting.

He then left the building through the Rotunda doors, but court documents say he was seen putting both hands on a Capitol Police officer and appeared to exchange words with the officer.

He then went to the west side of the Capitol and spent at least an hour on the Upper West Terrace, according to court documents.

About 4:38 p.m., court documents say Fournier was seen at the stairs next to the inauguration stands on the southwest side of the U.S. Capitol where another police line had formed.

Court documents say Fournier left the area a short time later, after spending more than two hours on Capitol grounds and inside the building.

Idiot of the Week: Another Capitol rioter who assaulted at least 6 police officers, sentenced to 5 years in prison

This week's idiot is another Trumpanzee who stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021 under Trump's direction to use violence to keep him in power. Now this guy, who is said to be one of the most violent attackers, will be spending 5 years in prison. He's also from Florida... so he's a "Florida Man." Here's the story.

BY MICHAEL KUNZELMAN, AP News, January 17, 2024

A Florida man described by prosecutors as one of the most violent rioters who attacked the U.S. Capitol was sentenced on Wednesday to five years in prison, court records show.

Kenneth Bonawitz, a member of the far-right Proud Boys extremist group’s Miami chapter, assaulted at least six police officers as he stormed the Capitol with a mob of Donald Trump supporters on Jan. 6, 2021. He grabbed one of the officers in a chokehold and injured another so severely that the officer had to retire, according to federal prosecutors.

Bonawitz, 58, of Pompano Beach, Florida, carried an eight-inch knife in a sheath on his hip. Police seized the knife from him in between his barrage of attacks on officers.

“His violent, and repeated, assaults on multiple officers are among the worst attacks that occurred that day,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean McCauley wrote in a court filing.

Idiot of the Week: A Florida Pastor & Wife Leads a 1 Million Dollar Theft Ring

I bet there's no "thank you, Jesus," coming out of the mouth of a Florida pastor,  his wife and her mother, who were caught stealing and selling over a million dollars worth of goods from stores. This week's Idiots are a "Man of Godf" and his wife in Florida. Here's the story.

Pinellas pastor led ring that stole $1.4M in Home Depot goods, officials say

Robert Dell, his wife, her mother and 2 others are accused of selling the stolen merchandise on eBay, according to prosecutors.

By Michaela MulliganTimes staff, Aug. 11, 2024

A Pinellas County {Florida} pastor, his wife and others are accused of stealing over $1.4 million worth of home improvement merchandise from Home Depot stores across Florida and reselling the goods on eBay, state officials said.

Robert Dell, 56, also “forced vulnerable people” to take part in the scheme, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody announced this week. A news release from Moody’s office said Dell is a pastor at The Rock Church in St. Petersburg and the founder of a halfway house serving people recovering from drug addiction. But a note on the homepage of The Rock Church’s website says Dell hasn’t been pastor there for more than two years.

The news release names four other people as co-conspirators in the case: Jaclyn Dell, 39, who is Robert Dell’s wife; Karen Dell, 72, who is Robert Dell’s mother; Jessica Wild, 40; and Daniel Mace, 36.

Robert Dell, Jaclyn Dell and Karen Dell were arrested on Aug. 1 after officers with the Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement executed a search warrant at Robert Dell’s home on the 2600 block of 39th Avenue North in St. Petersburg. He is charged with racketeering, conspiracy to commit racketeering and dealing in stolen property as an organizer.

Jaclyn Dell was arrested on a charge of conspiracy to commit racketeering and Karen Dell on a charge of dealing in stolen property. Mace, of Tampa, was arrested Wednesday on charges of racketeering and conspiracy to commit racketeering. Wild’s booking and charge information was not available.

According to Moody’s office, the group shoplifted Milwaukee, DeWalt and other branded products from Home Depot stores in Citrus, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sarasota counties.

Mace and Wild stole a majority of the merchandise and, “on average, victimized stores five to six times a day,” the release said. The pair then delivered the products to Robert Dell, who sold them on an eBay storefront named “Anointed Liquidator,” the release said.

“According to the investigation, Dell demanded the crimes under threat of abuse and used the positions of being a pastor and founder of a halfway house to manipulate other vulnerable people to participate in the criminal scheme,” the release stated. The release did not give the name of the halfway house.

Home Depot suspects Robert Dell operated this scheme for more than 10 years, and that the company has lost more than $5 million, the release said. An eBay account with the name “annointedliquidator” that has sold tools matching the brands named in the release was created in August 2011. The account has sold more than 35,000 items, according to the website.

Robert Dell was being held in the Pinellas County Jail on Friday, with a bond set at $752,150. Jaclyn Dell was also being held Friday, with a bond set at $150,000. Mace was also still in jail, with a bond set at $500,000. Karen Dell was released from jail on Tuesday after posting $20,000 bail. Times staff writer Tony Marrero contributed to this report.

Idiot of the Week: Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, Woman Hater

The Attorney General in Alabama is a woman hater. He doesn't want women to have access to the birth control pill and if they have a medical emergency or unwanted pregnancy he will prosecute women who travel out of state! What the hell? Women of Alabama, stand up and get rid of this Republican women-hater! That's what today's idiot is about.

Idiot  of the Week: Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, Woman Hater

1) ALABAMA PLANS TO PROSCUTE WOMEN SEEKING OUT-OF-STATE ABORTIONS

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall (R) argued he has the right to prosecute people who provide and facilitate travel for out-of-state abortion access on "criminal conspiracy charges" in a new court filing. “An elective abortion performed in Alabama would be a criminal offense; thus, a conspiracy formed in the State to have that same act performed outside the State is illegal,” he said.

2) Alabama Just Said It Will Use Drug Laws to Prosecute Women for Taking Abortion Pills

Law and Crime News, Jan 12, 2023

Alabama intends to criminally prosecute women who use abortion pills to terminate a pregnancy, using an old law adopted to protect children from cocaine and other drugs, the attorney general has announced.

The announcement fell just days after the FDA changed its regulations to make a commonly-used abortion pill far more accessible than it has ever been.

Alabama has a near-total ban on abortions called the Alabama Human Life Protection Act (AHLPA), which was signed into law by the state’s Republican governor Kay Ivey in 2019. At the time the law was adopted, it was unenforceable as an unconstitutional deprivation of liberty under the Supreme Court’s interpretation of the First Amendment in Roe v. Wade.

Idiot of the Week: Man Hit By Fireworks Mortar

Here's the final fireworks fool for the idiot of the week. Even more foolish and idiotic because personal fireworks are banned in Maryland. But this idiot bought them anyway, and during an attempt to light fireworks in a mortar tube lost his life. Although I am usually sympathetic to people in accidents, when they're doing something they know is illegal, and it adversely affects them, it's hard to do that. Here's the story:

MD Man Hit By Fireworks Mortar In Chest Dies: Fire Marshal

Deb Belt,Patch Staff, Jul 6, 2023

WALDORF, MD — A man hit in the chest when fireworks detonated in a mortar tube at a Waldorf home died Wednesday night, the state fire marshal said. The fatal accident happened when a group of friends were setting off fireworks behind a residence.

Authorities have not released the name of the victim.

A deputy state fire marshal and the Charles County Sheriff's Office responded to Bannister Circle in Waldorf on the report that someone was injured by a firework detonation. The explosion happened about 9 p.m.

The victim, a 20-year-old man, suffered hand and chest injuries. He was taken to Charles Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries, a news release said.

"Fireworks have been a long tradition of many celebrations. Please make safety your number one priority so everyone can go home safe. The safest way to enjoy fireworks is to attend one of the many public fireworks displays throughout the state," said State Fire Marshal Brian Geraci.

Idiot of the Week: Cape Cod Man with Traumatic Injuries from Igniting Illegal Fireworks

Here's another fireworks fool - this week's Idiot of the Week- this time from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Police in Yarmouth, Mass. have put out many warnings in June and July, reminding residents that fireworks are Illegal (and for a good reason). This week's idiot decided not to listen, and he may lose and arm and leg. Don't be an idiot. Here's the story.

Man suffers life-threatening injuries in July 4th Cape Cod fireworks explosion
 By Abby Patkin, July 5, 2023, Boston.com,

A man suffered life-threatening injuries during a Fourth of July fireworks explosion in West Yarmouth, Cape Cod officials said.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. at a home on Cocheset Path, according to a press release from the Yarmouth Fire Department. Firefighters reportedly received multiple calls about a 40-year-old man with “traumatic” injuries to his leg and hand from a fireworks explosion.

First responders looked into a helicopter transport for the man, but none were available due to the weather, according to the press release. The man was ultimately treated and taken to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis with “serious life-threatening injuries,” the Yarmouth Fire Department said.

“This is a reminder that the use, possession, or sale of fireworks is illegal in the state of Massachusetts,” the department cautioned, urging members of the public to “leave the fireworks to the professionals.”

Yarmouth fire officials cited data from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which reported that an estimated 10,200 people were treated in emergency rooms last year for fireworks injuries. There were also 11 fireworks-related deaths in 2022, the agency noted.

“Fireworks are beautiful to watch, but they can be deadly when mishandled or misused, or if the fireworks themselves contain illegal components,” CPSC Chair Alex Hoehn-Saric said in a statement ahead of this year’s Independence Day festivities.
