I Discovered: 1970s Evangelical Publisher Used Comic Books to Lie About Science

Recently we found an old "comic book" at Tom's mom's house called "Primal Man." It had
cavemen on the cover, and it looked innocent enough. As a comic book collector  I had never heard of it.   When I researched it, I was glad I didn't. It was religious bullshit propaganda to teach children that science is "lies." I have to say that as a scientist, I was furious. So it went where it deserved to go, in the Trash. Keep this junk away from your children.  Here's the details on this garbage and this wacko publisher. >>>>

WHAT IS THE NAME OF IT?  "The Crusaders PRIMAL MAN?"  by Jack Chick publishing.

WHY IS IT DAMAGING TO KIDS?   At the end of the book, it stated in bold "Evolution is a lie."

This infuriates me on number of levels: 1) This "publisher" uses an innocent medium of comic books to teach bullshit religious ideas that the world was created in 7 days (it's a metaphor, people) and that evolution is not true (It IS A FACT).
2) It's a cheap way to brainwash innocent children to believe made up crap.
Evangelicals are the same fools that think humans and dinosaurs walked the Earth less than 4,000 years ago. Truly, they are idiots (I'm being nice here).

SO WHAT IS JACK CHICK PUBLICATIONS? I had to  look it up. It's a right-wing Evangelical wacko company that uses comic formats to brainwash people into believing their religious junk.

WHO WAS THE FOUNDER?  Jack Thomas Chick was an American cartoonist and publisher, best known for his fundamentalist Christian "Chick tracts". He expressed his perspective on a variety of issues through sequential-art morality plays. Born: April 13, 1924, Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, CA Died: October 23, 2016.

Idiots of the Week ‘Evangelicals Political Event During Pandemic In Las Vegas Draws Hundreds

Evangelicals for Trump rally - August 2020. Credit:  Las Vegas Review-Journal,
Last weekend I highlighted the annual motorcycle gathering of 250,000 people in South Dakota  without masks or social distancing. This week, there's another big batch of Idiots of the week-(AND a Bonus Idiot) and these are more than 500 Evangelical people who gathered in a political rally in Nevada for you-know-who (who should know better about having large groups meet during a Pandemic).
Throughout history, various religions have discounted science. In America, it seems that only the right-wing Evangelicals are that dumb (yes, I said "Dumb" because they choose to remain ignorant and place people's lives in danger). Now, these 500 plus IDIOTS have the capability to spread COVID19 back into their families and communities. STUPID.
If they do contract it, Darwin Awards need to be handed out...

Here's the story  (and Bonus Idiot follows):

‘Evangelicals For Trump’ Event In Las Vegas Draws Hundreds
  August 6, 2020
A Las Vegas hotel received a civil penalty and a $250 fine this week after hosting a faith-based campaign event for President Donald Trump that violated the city’s COVID-19 social gathering restrictions.

More than 500 people attended Thursday’s “Evangelicals for Trump” event at the Ahern Hotel and Convention Center, which was headlined by the president’s pastor and spiritual adviser, Paula White.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, attendees were required to wear masks, and their temperatures were checked upon arrival. Signs urged anyone who felt ill to go home.

Ralph Reed, a political consultant and chair of the Faith and Freedom Coalition, said Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman and the City Council threatened the owners of the Ahern Hotel with fines and license revocation if they allowed the event to proceed.

White added during her speech that Gov. Steve Sisolak also attempted to block the event.

The Review-Journal obtained a copy of a letter sent by the city to the event’s organizers Thursday afternoon warning that the event would be a violation of Sisolak’s Phase Two order limiting gatherings to no more than 50 people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

$250 violation issued

City spokesman Jace Radke said Thursday evening that the event’s organizers and owner Don Ahern were issued a notice of violation from the city’s business licensing department, which includes a $250 civil fine.

More than 500 people attended the event, according to organizers, which was held in the hotel’s lobby. The lobby’s maximum occupancy is more than 1,600, organizers said. Masks were required, and attendees’ temperatures were checked at each entrance. A sign ordered anyone feeling ill to go home.

The Trump campaign maintained that hotels are allowed to hold events at 50 percent occupancy and are not subject to the 50-person event cap placed on churches and other venues.

BONUS IDIOT  - You would think that someone speaking to reporters would at least have a cheat sheet about Historic Events. NOPE... and still cites his idea of history, which was off by about 30 plus years).
-

Trump's version of world history, as relayed at his press conference on Aug. 10, 2020:: "The 1918 influenza pandemic happened in 1917. It probably ended World War II, which started in 1939."
This is the person who wants to make mental aptitude a major talking point of the 2020 election.

Important! What Evangelical Christians Now Believe (not regular Christians)

There's a sharp distinction between Evangenlical christians and TRUE Christians. True Christians (many of whom we are friends with) are outraged that the Far-right wing Evangelical Christians keep giving them a bad name, because Evangelicals now stand for hatred and intolerance. In fact, what we've learned from the recent race in Alabama is that Evangelicals stand for much worse than just those two things.  Let us be CLEAR- Regular Christians don't stand for what Evangelicals do. Here's the list and suggestions to fix the "Evangelical" problem and re-claim Christianity:

SO, WHAT DO EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANS NOW STAND FOR?
1) Pedophilia is okay
2) Hatred for non-christians (like jews, muslims, etc.)
3) Gay people should be hated and deemed "Illegal"
4) Okay to defy the law and the Supreme Court
5) Okay NOT to treat all people equally (What would Jesus think?)
6) "Slavery unites families"
7) Muslims shouldn't be in Congress (but perverts can)
8) Okay to use racial slurs
9) Only white men should vote  (changed by one of the last 17 amendments)

WHERE DID THIS LIST COME FROM?  It was mostly "Evangelical Christians" (and White Men) who supported the losing Senate GOP candidate Roy Moore in Alabama. It was Roy Moore  who stood for those 9 things (and more) and Evangelicals totally supported him, thus, they stand for the same thing.
An "Evangelical Christian" woman supporting Moore

WHY THIS IS A PROBLEM - Evangelicals make up roughly 33% of all Christians (but Christians don't want them) and they always vote for conservatives who promote hatred and intolerance.
HOW TO FIX IT - We'll never be free of those kinds of politicians unless more non-evangelicals vote and drown out their hatred. Further, Christians who are NOT Evangelicals need to forcefully tell them that Evangelicals do not represent Christian beliefs.

MORE FACTS ON THE MISERABLE MOORE
Here's his record (sourced from Digg.com)  BTW- It's not just pedophilia (which should have stopped anyone's candidacy immediately), but a history of DEFYING the Supreme Court, bigotry, racism, etc.

1) Roy Moore served as a Republican elected (although he was first appointed when another judge died) judge in Alabama from 1992 to 2017. He was removed from office twice for ethics violations.
2) He's Known For His Religious Fundamentalism
3) In 1996, a court ruled that Moore's practice of opening court with a prayer was unconstitutional.
3) As Chief Justice of the state supreme court, Moore was involved in repeated controversy, and was suspended from the bench twice. In a 2002 opinion, Moore called homosexual behavior "an inherent evil, and an act so heinous that it defies one's ability to describe it."
5) In 2001, Moore commissioned the installation of a 5,280 pound Ten Commandments statue in the state's judicial building. A federal judge eventually ruled in 2003 that the statue violated the First Amendment's principle of separation of church and state, and ordered it to be removed. Moore refused to comply and was removed from office in 2004 on ethics grounds.
6) In 2005, he said "homosexual conduct" should still be illegal.
7) In 2012, Moore was reelected as Chief Justice in a surprise election result.
8) In 2016, Moore ordered Alabama judges to disobey the Supreme Court's ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges that legalized same-sex marriage. Once again, Moore was found guilty of ethics violations and was suspended from office for the rest of his term. In April 2017 Moore announced he would run for Senate.
