YORK, Maine — The York Police Department is crediting one of its K-9s for finding a man who went missing the overnight hours.
Police said they received a report early Thursday that a 79-year-old man, who suffers from cognitive impairment, was missing and had last been seen at his home around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
York police Sgt. Jon Rogers was called to the scene and brought his partner, K-9 Günther, to help find the missing man.

Günther and Rogers started searching at 4 a.m. Thursday and after 30 minutes, the K-9 began showing signs that the missing man was nearby.
Police said Günther led Rogers and another officer directly to the man, who had been down on the ground for an unknown amount of time.
The man appeared to be unharmed, according to police. He was taken to York Hospital for an evaluation.
