What Would YOU Do?

In today's blog, this question is for YOU.  You manage a business and someone who is your right hand person hides his/her past from you about restraining orders against him, and domestic abuse. Turns out because of his violent history he can't get a clearance to work with your company's secrets and finances. He gets found out and quits but he's already been privvy to that private info for a year. What would you do?

HOW DO YOU REACT?  - Do you give him sympathy?
Do you praise him?
Do you offer sympathy to his abused victims?
Read the real-life case below and you'll be shocked at his boss' reaction (like most people would).

THE CASE: Rob Porter’s two ex-wives detailed episodes of alleged verbal and physical abuse. The Daily Mail published a copy of a protective order obtained by Porter’s second wife in 2010, and later published photographs of Porter’s first wife with a black eye she said came from Porter punching her.

BACKGROUND: According to Politico, White House Chief of Staff General Kelly had learned in recent weeks that the FBI would recommend denying Porter a full security clearance. **NOTE: But Porter has already seen 1 year's worth of classified material**

HIS BOSS' SURPRISING SYMPATHY FOR THE ABUSER: President Donald Trump said “it was very sad” to learn about Porter’s alleged abuse, but pointed out that Porter has denied the claims.  “As you probably know, he says he’s innocent, and I think you have to remember that,” Trump told reporters.Trump praised Porter’s work in the White House and wished him well.
“It’s obviously a tough time for him,” the president said. “He did a very good job when he was in the White House, and we hope he has a wonderful career.”
