Outstanding Novel- Deck the Hounds by David Rosenfelt

Recently I read and thoroughly enjoyed "Deck the Hounds" by David Rosenfelt. This is the third
novel I've read by this author and I absolutely LOVE the characters and the mysteries.
Andy Carpenter is a lawyer who has a soft spot in his heart for dogs (he and his wife and son have 2 dogs and help fund a rescue). Andy's wife Laurie is his private investigator and he has a team of others to help him, including some that know how to access any info on the Internet, phone records, and he even has a hired muscle named Marcus. The novel is written in a first person narrative from Andy's perspective, and I LOVE the very short chapters. All authors should write this way.
In this story, Andy helps a homeless vet with a dog, and then puts him up in the apartment in his house. The vet is later accused of murder of a rich man, and Andy and his wife decide there's no recourse but to defend his new friend. The storyline is so amazing and complex and it will keep you on edge!!
I loved, loved, loved this story (like the others) and can't wait to read all of David Rosenfelt's novels!

ABOUT THE BOOK  "The perfect holiday gift for animal lovers.” – Publisher’s Weekly
This Christmas mystery, featuring criminal defense lawyer Andy Carpenter and his faithful golden retriever, Tara, showcases Rosenfelt’s trademark humor and larger-than-life characters.
Reluctant lawyer Andy Carpenter doesn’t usually stop to help others, but seeing a dog next to a homeless man inspires him to give the pair some money to help. It’s just Andy’s luck that things don’t end there. Soon after Andy’s encounter with them, man and dog are attacked in the middle of the night on the street. The dog defends its new owner, and the erstwhile attacker is bitten but escapes. But the dog is quarantined and the man, Don Carrigan, is heartbroken.
Andy’s wife Laurie can’t resist helping the duo after learning Andy has met them before… it’s the Christmas season after all. In a matter of days Don and his dog Zoey are living above Andy’s garage and become two new additions to the family. It’s not until Andy accidentally gives away his guest’s name during an interview that things go awry; turns out Don is wanted for a murder that happened two years ago. Don not only claims he’s innocent, but that he had no idea that he was wanted for a crime he has no knowledge of in the first place. It’s up to Andy to exonerate his new friend, if he doesn’t get pulled into the quagmire first.
David Rosenfelt’s signature wit, charm, and cleverness are back again in this most exciting installment yet.

Fantastic Mystery Play Dead by David Rosenfelt (5 of 5 Stars)

The second mystery book I read by David Rosenfelt was equally as amazing and gripping as the first.
I recently finished and totally enjoyed "Play Dead" which came out in 2007, but is as fresh as today. - David Rosenfelt writes about an attorney with a team who investigates cases he's handling - and there are always DOGS in them, and twists and turns to keep you reading a lot!   I don't want to give anything away, but the dog helped a lot in freeing his dog dad from a life prison sentence.
FIVE of FIVE STARS! You need to read this!!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Few can rival attorney Andy Carpenter's affection for golden retrievers, especially his own beloved Tara. After he astonishes a New Jersey courtroom by successfully appealing another golden's death sentence, Andy discovers that this gentle dog is a key witness to a murder that took place five years before. Andy pushes the boundaries of the law even further as he struggles to free an innocent man by convincing an incredulous jury to take canine testimony seriously. It will take all the tricks Andy's fertile mind can conceive to get to the bottom of a remarkable chain of impersonations and murder, and save a dog's life--and his own--in the process.

Fantastic Mystery! Hounded: An Andy Carpenter Mystery: by David Rosenfelt

I (Rob) love mysteries, and I love mysteries with dogs - that's a double win for me. So when I took a
Fantastic Mystery by David Rosenfelt
chance earlier this year and read a mystery by David Rosenfelt about a defense attorney  named "Andy Carpenter" who (like the author) loves dogs and works dogs into every mystery (although some indirectly), I loved it.
Tom bought me "Hounded," the 12th novel in the series and I couldn't read it fast enough. The characters, Andy (of course) and his girlfriend Laurie, have a group of folks that work as a team to solve mysteries to clear Andy's clients. One is a muscle guy, one is a tech expert and  there's a phone expert. In this story, they all come together to solve a murder that looks like was committed by a respected police officer, and who had close personal ties with the victim and victim's son. So it made no sense!
I LOVE the way that Rosenfelt keeps chapters short (like 3-10 pages max) and to the point. It makes it that much easier to read and keep track of plotlines when you read a book over the course of  a week or two.
This is another 5 of 5 star mystery (like the other one I read). I plan on reading ALL of them!
You should read them, too.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Andy Carpenter isn't sure what to think when he gets a mysterious phone call from a good friend, policeman Pete Stanton, asking him to drop everything, drive to an unfamiliar address, and bring his girlfriend, Laurie Collins. He certainly isn't expecting to show up at a crime scene. But that's exactly where he arrives-at the house where Pete has just discovered the body of ex-convict Danny Diaz. Upstairs are Danny's now orphaned eight-year-old son and basset hound. And that, Andy discovers, is why he and Laurie were called to the scene-Pete wants them to take care of the boy and the dog so they won't get thrown into the "system." This is already asking a lot, but soon Pete needs another big favor from Andy. Pete himself has come under suspicion for Danny's murder, and he needs defense attorney Andy to represent him...and to find out what really happened in Danny's house that day.
David Rosenfelt has done it again. Told with his characteristic humor and wit, Hounded is at once a heartfelt story about family and a page-turning legal thriller.

Great Mystery Novel: One Dog Night by David Rosenfelt

I recently finished a Great mystery novel called" ONE DOG NIGHT" in the "Andy Carpenter Novel" Series by David Rosenfelt and I can say I found a new favorite series! The author has been writing this series since 2003 and I happened to buy one on Amazon because there was a dog on the cover (yeah, I'm an easy sell when it comes to dogs). Turns out, the author is also very partial to dogs and has them on every cover of his series about an attorney.
The story was fast-paced, exciting, and had great characters (including the dog). I LOVE it when authors write short chapters, and that's the style of this book. The characters are funny, witty, serious, smart and realistic. I was surprised by the ending in this book and loved it!
FIVE out of FIVE stars!  - Rob

BOOK SUMMARY:  For six years Noah Galloway has lived with a horrible secret and the fear that his rebuilt life could be shattered at any moment. Now his dread has become a certainty, and he has been arrested for the arson murder of twenty-six people.
What he needs now is defense lawyer Andy Carpenter, who most definitely is not in the market for a new client. So Noah plays his hole card: a shared love for Andy's golden retriever, Tara, and the knowledge of what her life was like before Andy rescued her. Because Andy wasn't her first owner—Noah rescued Tara first, and when he wasn't able to care for her any longer, he did everything in his power to make sure that she was placed in the right home: Andy's.
With that knowledge, Andy has little choice but to take Noah on, and he soon learns that the long-ago event that may destroy Noah's life is only the beginning of an ongoing conspiracy that grows more deadly by the day. Andy will have to pull out all of his tricks to get to the bottom of this cold case turned white hot in One Dog Night, the latest in David Rosenfelt's popular mystery series.
