A Great Cozy "Pet Boutique mystery": Collared for Murder

Annie Knox has written three books in the "Pet Boutique Mystery" series, and I've now read all three. The latest, "Collared for Murder" was as interesting and well-done as the first two. The lead character, Izzy, a 30 something woman who owns "Trendy Tails" pet Boutique in Minnesota, is surrounded by great characters including a quirky aunt named Dolly, a goth-type lesbian co-worker named Rena who bakes dog biscuits, Izzy's boyfriend Jack a police officer, and of course her dog and cat among others.
This books kept me guessing who the murderer was, although there were only a few suspects! You gain insight into cat shows, too. Well-worth the read.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Groomed for Murder’s Izzy McHale is back, and her pet boutique, Trendy Tails, is raking in the green. But someone else in town is seeing red.…

The Midwestern Cat Fanciers’ Organization is bringing its annual weeklong retreat to Merryville, Minnesota. While that’s perfect for Izzy’s business, it unleashes headaches for everyone else. The event has lots of workshops on the care and breeding of cats, and it culminates in a cat show with a fabulous prize—a platinum collar dangle worth some big bucks.

Cattiness, of course, ensues. But the claws really come out after the prize disappears, and the wealthy director, Phillip Denford, is done in with a pair of grooming shears. Now Izzy and her furry friends, Packer and Jinx, can’t waste time pussyfooting around. They have to solve this case before a killer pounces again.

Fun Mystery: Groomed for Murder (A Pet Boutique Mystery) by Annie Knox

I love reading mysteries with pets in them, and recently enjoyed "Groomed for Murder" (A Pet Boutique Mystery) by Annie Knox. Previously I read the first book in the series called "Paws for Murder" and it was equally as enjoyable. The lead character, Izzy McHale owns and manages a pet boutique in a small Minnesota town. She's surrounded by great characters, her  co-worker Rena, her Aunt Dolly, a next door shop owner that wants to close her down, a rival pet store owner, 2 possible romantic interests and many others.
The characters make the mystery, and this will keep you guessing. Izzy defies Jack, the detective, and conducts her own investigation. It's a fun read!

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Izzy McHale wants her new Trendy Tails Pet Boutique in Merryville, Minnesota, to be the height of canine couture and feline fashions. But in a week of wedding bells, someone is about to hold their peace…

forever. Love is in the air, and Izzy is hard at work coordinating two special weddings at Trendy Tails. First, Izzy’s friend and mentor, Ingrid, will be tying the knot with her old flame. And a week later, Izzy will host “pupptials” for two lovable dogs.

But even with the hullabaloo, the Trendy Tails crew is intrigued by Daniel, an enigmatic writer boarding above the shop who’s caught the attention of Izzy’s zany aunt Dolly, who gossips like most people breathe.

Unfortunately, it’s Daniel who stops breathing when he drops dead at the altar on Ingrid’s wedding day. Then Dolly is found at the scene with the murder weapon, and it’s up to Izzy, her Trendy Tails pals, and her scrappy pets, Packer and Jinx, to find a killer before the two affianced doggies bark down the aisle

Really Great book! Paws for Murder by Annie Knox

I recently finished reading "Paws for Murder" by Annie Knox. It was really outstanding. The reader quickly gets to know
Izzy, who owns a pet shop in a small Minnesota town, and a lot of the quirky characters there. The writing is great and keeps the reader wanting to continue reading more and more.
I love the various characters, and could picture the small town, and small town gossip and politics. The writer really is wonderful, and I can't wait to read her second novel.

STORY:  Izzy McHale is on the brink of launching her new business, a pet boutique called Trendy Tails, when she winds up on the wrong side of Sherry Harper, Merryville, Minnesota’s resident trust fund baby and social activist. With Sherry threatening to picket Trendy Tails’s grand opening, Izzy’s worried her business will fail before it officially opens. But the night of the big event, Sherry Harper is found dead in the alley behind Izzy’s store and suspect number one is her best friend, Rena Hamilton. Izzy and her friends and family have to solve the mystery of Sherry’s murder before Rena gets sent up the river for a crime she didn’t commit.
Paws for Murder is the first in the new Pet Boutique Mystery series. Set to be released on January 7, 2014
