Book of the Week: The Untrained Medium by Christopher J Brown

This week's book of the week is called "The Untrained Medium," and it's an autobiographical story by a medium whom I befriended while working at a couple of paranormal conferences. This medium endured a lot of trauma to come to understand his gifts, and he's now an amazing medium.

Christopher J Brown is a medium out of Augusta, Maine, and he had a rough start, trying to figure out what the voices in his head actually were... when they were messages from spirits of people who passed. The story of his life was really eye-opening, because it shows one of the ways messages from spirits could be misconstrued as a mental health issue. 

Christopher endured a lot, from alcohol and drugs to people in the medical field who kept treating him for mental illness. After many years of struggling, he finally connected with the right people who helped him see those "voices" were spirit messages, and that he had a gift. 

It's a great and tragic lesson that people who have this mediumship gift down't always get the support they need, and the understanding that they are not crazy.
