Excellent Graphic Novel! DC Comics: Suicide Squad vol 5., 2018

The new Suicide Squad film is out now at theatres, and the premise is that a secret
organization related to the government uses supervillains to combat worldwide menaces.  There are several volumes in trade paperback that collect the individual comic books. Volume 5 from 2018 was fantastic in several ways. Read on! 

The first version of the Suicide Squad debuted in The Brave and the Bold #25 (September 1959) and the second and modern version, created by John Ostrander, debuted in January 1987. 

WHAT IS THE CURRENT VERSION ABOUT? The modern incarnation of the Suicide Squad is Task Force X, an special operations team composed mostly of incarcerated supervillains who undertake high-risk black ops secret missions in exchange for either parole, work release, and/or reduced prison sentences. Regardless of abilities and talent, every member of the squad is expendable and it is expected that not many will return. As expendable assets all, members are fitted with an explosive device in their neck to assure obedience. The Suicide Squad's name alludes to the dangerous nature of their missions. The team is based out of Belle Reve Penitentiary under the directorship of Amanda Waller and is generally commanded by Colonel Rick Flag Jr. in the field.

THIS GRAPHIC NOVEL IS EXCELLENT - Suicide squad Vol 5  was published in  2018. The storyline is fantastic and so is the artwork! 

THIS ISSUE:  Amanda Waller , manager of the squad is mentally controlled by a Russian energy entity  and the Russian leader has his own suicide squad to eliminate the world's heroes.  The Suicide squad figures it out and the villains become heroes. 

Baltimore Comic-Con Pt 4: The Suicide Squad

In this final blog about the Baltimore Comic-Con, we're highlighting a group of attendees who made great costumes from the current movie "Suicide Squad."  While dressed as Green Lantern, I (Rob) love getting pics with others in costume. This was a treat.   Suicide Squad is a 2016 American superhero film based on the DC Comics antihero team of the same name.

WHAT IS  \THE SUICIDE SQUAD-  In Suicide Squad, a secret government agency led by Amanda Waller recruits imprisoned supervillains to execute dangerous black ops missions and save the world from a powerful threat, in exchange for leaner sentences.

WHO ARE THE SUICIDE SQUAD MEMBERS? - Ther  elite hitman Deadshot, former psychiatrist Harley Quinn, pyrokinetic ex-gangster El Diablo, opportunistic thief Captain Boomerang, genetic mutation Killer Croc, and specialized assassin Slipknot. They are placed under command of Colonel Rick Flag to be used as disposable assets in high-risk missions for the United States government. Each member has a nano bomb implanted in their neck, designed to detonate should any member rebel or try to escape. One of Waller's intended recruits is Flag's girlfriend Dr. June Moone, an archaeologist possessed by a witch-goddess known as the "Enchantress." The Joker was also in the the movie but not a member of the Squad. He's Harley Quinn's boyfriend!   Katana, pictured here in the group is also Not a member of the Squad - she's actually a japanese superhero who was brought in to help keep all the criminals in line.
