Summer From a Doggone Good Perspective

Video of Dolly playing her favorite game: ROPE TOSS- and she usually catches it in the air!

Our dogs Dolly, Franklin and Sprite have been enjoying most of the summer indoors because most of the summer has been hotter than 90F, but they do get to enjoy some fun outdoors. Here are some pictures from this past week.

A morning glory on our fence after a dog walk!
Yes, they only bloom in the mornings, thus the name. Don't ask me what color it is, though- I'm (Rob) colorblind. My guess is blue, but it could be purple or violet for all I know. :) Enjoy!

Hear my radio interview on the "Unknown Paranormal" Radio show.

On July 31, I was a guest of the Unknown Paranormal Radio show. The show ran from 9pm to 11pm EDT, and I talked with the hosts (one of whom is also a developing medium) about my book and my abilities.
 - We had some great conversation about energies, the difference and similarities between a ghost and spirit and much more.
NOTE: I come on about 15 minutes after the show starts. **Before that, they talk about some "housekeeping" things."
Hear it here:
SUMMARY OF THE SHOW:
Join Host Kevin Weddle, Founder of Unknown Paranormal, along with Co-Host Mike McCaskill as they discuss with guests topics of paranormal, spiritual, and the unknown and unexlained. Come join us for an in depth discussion of the paranormal world.  This week, our guest will be Rob Gutro.  Rob Gutro is a "developing medium" who is still learning how to use his abilities. He can receive messages from those who have passed either from Earth-bound ghosts or spirits who have crossed over. He wrote and published the book "Ghosts and Spirits: Insights from a Medium."  Because he's a meteorologist, he tries to provide some kind of scientific explanations on the how and why ghosts and spirits exist and are able to communicate.  He always gets a headache whenver he's in the presence of a ghost or a spirit.  There is a difference, which he explains in the book.  The book also contains personal experiences on and off ghost tours in historic places.

Henry Cavill as Superman - First Photo

The first photo of Henry Cavill in costume as Superman for the new big-screen version entitled "Man of Steel" was just released Thursday morning.  It shows Superman looking like he's rising to his feet against a smoking, smoldering vault door.

The costume retains the basic look from the comic books: blue with a red cape and boots.  But the suit has a textured, almost rubbery look that's different from previous movie incarnations, like Christopher Reeve's stretchy bodysuit.  The colors look darker and more muted than previous versions of the suit, and the raised "S" insignia on his chest also looks better.

National psychology group backs marriage equality

Gay marriage is now officially endorsed by the highest ranking psychological association in the U.S. -  SO...
I have A FEW WORDS for Evangelicals and the hateful, right-wing "Christians" (not all of them) who fight against gay marriage:  "Stick this where the sun doesn't shine."
Right-wingers are nothing but Hate groups and religious extremists masquerading as Christians.

National psychology group backs marriage equality
A policymaking body of the American Psychological Association has voted unanimously to approve a resolution supporting marriage rights for same-sex couples. Some say the move could have a big impact on the political debate surrounding the issue.

MOVIE TRAILER: "Immortals" - looks good!

This November, you can see Henry Cavill in the mythological action spectacle "Immortals."  You can watch the trailer for that below. This looks great. Of course, any time Henry Cavill is running around in body armor, or without it for that matter, we'll watch it. :)

Sign Holding Fun with my Nephews

My nephew Brian campaigning for his dad!

My (Rob) younger brother is running for local office, and his campaigning is in full-swing. So, one of the days that I was visiting with Dolly and Franklin, I participated in a sign holding event. My two nephews, my sister-in-law, and of course, my brother the candidate were there, too- all helping.  - I made a short video of my nephews Brian and Scotty holding the signs. It was a lot of fun, and they are so cute and so sharp!!
Here are the pictures... and let's hope my brother wins in November! He IS the best candidate after all.

Dolly and Franklin's (and Rob's) Trip to Mass.

Taking a break from the road.
I (Rob) went to Massachusetts with Dolly and Franklin, while Tom and Sprite stayed behind. (Tom has no vacation time yet). I visited my mother to help her with some things and was gone 4 days. It took 10 HOURS to drive up, and 10 hours to drive back!  - I was there 2 full days, and also got the chance to help hold signs for my younger brother's local political campaign. - those pictures will be posted tomorrow, with a video! Meanwhile here are some pictures of Dolly and Franklin's adventures.

Yay! Finally getting to NYC!

Vet Visit and a Recovery Day

I (Rob) just returned from visiting my mother in Massachusetts where I spent several days helping her around the house. I'll have a pictorial of the trip here on the blog soon. Meanwhile, today has been a day of catching up on sleep, walking the dogs, answering a ton of email (I didn't have connectivity in Mass.) and taking the dogs to the vet.
This is a picture of our vet, Dr Yates, at Family Vet Clinic in Gambrills, Md. with Dolly (left); Franklin (center) and Sprite (right). She's been treating them for years. Dolly's paw was checked after she stepped into a cup of hot Dunkin' Donuts coffee yesterday on my drive home from Mass. Fortunately, I thought fast and had a bottle of water to pour on it, and coated it with triple antibiotic ointment and covered it with one of my socks, so it helped reduce any blistering. Today, there were only some minor signs of redness! Yay!
Franklin went in for removal of stitches on his paw. An abscess developed in his left (digging) paw and he had to have surgery after 1 month of trying medication. Turns out there were 5 small things in his paw, causing the infection. So, now that the surgery is healed, the stitches came out!
Sprite just went along for the ride and to bark at the mutt in the reception area. Well, he had to do SOMETHING!  :)

Joke of the day!

From our friends Cathy and Cindy in PA, a great joke!
Redneck cemetery headstones?
Two reasons why it's so hard to solve a Redneck murder:
1) The DNA is all the same
2) There are no dental records

Another place that doesn't know how to Spell

Tom and I enjoy seeing names of places that are mis-spelled, or make up words. It just reminds us that there are a lot of bad spellers, or uneducated people in business.
Like the "Preceptual Praise House of God." THAT "winner" is in Crofton, Maryland. There's no such word as "Preceptual" There's a similar word "Perceptual"  which is likely what they were going for because it means "of, relating to, or involving perception especially in relation to immediate sensory experience." Well, maybe not.
 - Here's this month's winner (LOSER). We think they were trying to spell the word "Illusions."  This hair salon, however, is spelled "Ilussions." What the hell does that mean?
 - It means that whomever they paid to make the sign doesn't know how to spell either!

Cowboys and Aliens Movie- Trailer

I just learned that "Cowboys and Aliens" is a comic book (one I don't read), and it was made into a movie that just came out. The movie DOES look interesting, maybe because it includes hunky Daniel Craig (James Bond) and Harrison Ford. :)   The trailer looks good, too. Of course, I've always loved cowboys. - Rob
